Chapter 264: ss With

anwhile, as Raine threw herself into a fit of mourning, Lyne made sure to personally see to the fact that she was eating properly. She stood by the sidelines, even if her boss still refused to co out of her room.

"Boss, try this dish that Levi cooked. It’s really good," Lyne respectfully called out as she arranged the al on the table.

"Lyne, how many days has it been?"

Lyne looked up, Raine flashing her a dead look as she kept her composure. The forr had never witnessed their Boss in this kind of mood before, and seeing such a thing scared her to no end. Usually, their Boss was too transparent; what they saw was what they got. But now... none of them could even fathom what was going on inside her head.

"It seems as if I can’t think rationally... I should have seen this coming sohow, but I still don’t know why I’m feeling like this," Raine spoke with a hollow confusion. "He died saving , and I don’t even know who to point the bla at for this, Lyne. I hate losing my cool like this, but I just want to snap soone’s neck and sohow get better."

Lyne sighed and reported, "The weapon they fired at you was sothing ancient, as far as we could tell. We’ve gathered enough details about it and we reviewed the footage at the ti of the incident. In the end, we found out that Alpha Sasha is responsible for all of this." She then continued her explanation, "Nathan wasn’t aware of it, and neither were his n. Apparently, that Sasha wanted to secure the role of the Queen at the Convel Society, and she saw you as a threat for getting that goal. As such, she wanted to make sure that you’ll be out of her way."

There was a smirk on Raine’s face as she then asked, "Is that what Boris told you?"

Lyne gulped. It was true that she got all of her current information from Boris alone.

"Where is our new King right now?" Raine asked once more, her eyes darting towards the outside scene visible from her balcony.

"He left to return to the Convel Society," Lyne dutifully replied. "He put Prince Davin and Princess Ester in charge of the Moon Clan in the anti."

"Why is he leaving his Queen behind then? I should get ready and give him a surprise visit there myself..." Raine smirked, a deadly smile lingering on her lips as she seemingly ca alive.

"But Boss-"

"He marked , and I marked him," Raine stoically pointed out. "That’s pretty much like a marriage in the werewolf world, right?" She then trailed off, deep in thought as she spoke, "The Mate Bond... I want to see how that bitch will gun for my life while I’m there..."

Her glare was sharp in its intensity. She wanted revenge. Couldn’t she at least do that for the father that treated her so well?

Seeing her boss’s thinly veiled intentions, Lyne sighed and said, "Boss, the food is ready. Also... Regarding Randall, we already confird his identity through his prints. He’s Lark Tai. Yours and Mara’s DNA matched with his."

Raine kept an expressionless face at what she was hearing. She didn’t ask anything about it, but knowing Lyne, she probably took the initiative to further investigate the claims that King Marcus said in his last words.

"Princess Ester also confird a bit of the detail about it but she kept her silence because of King Marcus’ threats. According to Princess Ester, Randall seems unaware of his own identity, or anything about himself, really. Anything, except for King Marcus who he had only served as soon as he arrived at the Moon Clan territory, is utterly wiped," Lyne relayed with a small breath. "Even then, no one recognized him since he’s always hiding his face. He also grew a beard and mustache to further hide his face from scrutiny."

"It’s probably his curse to live like that. For unintentionally killing my mother," Raine breathed out.

"I’ll look more into-"

"There’s no need," Raine cut off. "Call it off."

"But aren’t you curious to know more about it, Boss?" Lyne inquisitively countered. "About what really happened to your biological father?"

In response, Raine simply smiled. "It’s more than enough to see that he’s still alive, Lyne. At least Father let him be near

even in the shadows. Where is he now?"

"He’s still in the Yue Mansion," Lyne promptly replied. "King Nathan let him stay under Princess Ester’s care. You can see him there anyti, Boss."

Raine nodded at the added information as she then mumbled, "He’s from the Sun Clan. I’m sure news of this would’ve reached them by now..."

"It also ans that you’re also a Princess of the Sun Clan, Boss," Lyne helpfully pointed out. What’s your plan now? Don’t you want to et and see your real family? I’ll talk to Boris so we can go out and-"

"There’s no need, Lyne. I don’t want to go out of the Moon Clan Territory anyway unless it’s for

to travel to the Convel Society," Raine faintly smirked. I want to go to my mate and give him a surprise visit. Besides, I also have a few things to settle there first before anything else."

"But Boss, it’ll be too dangerous if you go there with the current events in mind," Lyne cautiously warned. "Those werewolves are still mad because of the attack we launched, and-"

"You worry too much, Lyne. I’m sure Nathan won’t let any of them touch ," Raine confidently stated.

Giving her boss a level stare, Lyne sighed as she eventually conceded. "Alright, I’ll arrange for it to happen. But first, you need to eat your lunch, Boss," she half-pleaded. "And please eat more this ti around. You’re starting to lose weight from eating too little and not sleeping enough."

At Lyne’s begging tone, Raine let off her first smile in a long ti. Looking up at Lyne, she said, "I’ll be back to my old self soon enough, Lyne, so please bear with

being like this for so ti."

Lyne quickly nodded in understanding, but she still couldn’t help but feel worried. The feeling of guilt due to conspiring with Nathan for this attack just kept on attacking her conscience. With a sigh, she bit her lip and whispered, "I’m sorry, Boss..."

Raine knitted her brows while she grabbed her utensils and started eating. Giving Lyne a level stare, she simply stated, "Sit and eat with , Lyne. Stop apologizing. What’s done is done. It’s not like you conspired to kill my father." She rolled her eyes as she scoffed, "I know that the ti when he had to pay for his cris and deeds will co soon, but I still just can’t, and will not accept the way he died just to save . That shot was ant for ... I won’t stay idle knowing that soone wants to ss with ." She then plainly declared, not even caring as she started eating, "Make sure that Nathan won’t know that I’ll be arriving at the Convel Society."
