Infuriated by his carefree attitude, Joanna stord over to him and grabbed his tie, jerking his head down as she snarled, "Can you swear that you didn’t slash and ruin my brother’s face? Can you honestly tell that you didn’t defeat my brother because of Taylor’s betrayal?"
"Taylor just did what she felt was right. I don’t think it was a betrayal." Ace looked up and t Joanna’s gaze intently. They were so close that they could feel each other’s breath on their skin, and suddenly, the air beca thick with tension.
Joanna swallowed briefly and put so distance between them. She gritted her teeth and said, "As a man, you should at least have the integrity to admit to what you did. You tricked Joanna and ruined my brother... Don’t you feel even the least bit guilty?"
"As opponents in a battle, it’s only natural that there’s a winner and a loser. If I didn’t do what I did, it might have been my face ruined or my corpse in the sea."
"You..." Joanna couldn’t argue.
"Do you believe that Night Demon would have been as generous if he had the chance?"
Ace demanded as he stood up and approached Joanna. "I rember vividly how torturous it was in the water dungeon, and how helpless it felt to be blind. Don’t you think he’s cruel too?"
"That... was an accident..." Joanna mumbled, reluctant to admit that Ace had a point.
Quinton’s actions had been more ruthless than Ace’s, so Ace wasn’t wrong.
"Accident?" A mocking smile crept up on Ace’s face. "Well, can I say that it was an
accident that I ruined his face back then? If Joanna didn’t stab him and drive him mad to the point that he started attacking everyone, I wouldn’t have had to use such a thod to calm him down."
Ace frowned slightly, not wanting to recall those unpleasant mories." After that, he
grabbed Taylor and jumped into the sea, and after that, both of them went missing. I
helped him manage Carmine Pawnshop for free for so many years to keep it from going out of business. It had been nearing ruin, but I made it successful again. Haven’t I done enough? In fact, I think I deserve a reward."
Joanna’s jaw dropped, and she gaped at Ace like a goldfish.
"Unfortunately, that person is still as bullheaded as before. If he insists on provoking , then don’t bla if I fight back." Ace’s gaze slowly turned fierce.
It seed like he wanted to make a counterattack because of the news, and that was exactly what Joanna did not want.
"Both of you are blinded by your hatred, and it gets worse every ti the both of you fight.
In the end, both of you might get seriously hurt..." Joanna tried to explain, but Ace just shook his head.
"There’s no point in you telling this, you’d have better luck trying to persuade your stubborn brother. I’m just a businessman, and I don’t hold grudges. The only thing I want is profit."
"Yes, I ca to et you today because I know that. I hope you can give a bit of ti to help you and Quinton resolve this,’ Joanna said earnestly.
"You?" Ace scoffed, raising a brow doubtfully.
"Of course, I can’t do that. But Taylor can." Joanna’s gaze was determined as she spoke.
Ace went silent, his gaze turning icy. Although he was always aloof and distant, he did feel sorry for Taylor.
"Promise not to take revenge on my brother during this period, and I guarantee that you both will cooperate well after this issue is resolved." Joanna was afraid that they might fight while she was gone, so she could only ask Ace to stop for the ti being.
However, she didn’t know if he would agree or not.
After all, he had forgotten about her, which just made her his opponent’s younger sister. He felt nothing for her.
"Can... Can you do that?" Joanna asked softly, hoping he would accept the olive branch.
He stared at her coldly for a long ti before he said, "Ten days. That’s all I can promise."
Joanna felt relieved after getting Ace’s answer. So part of her knew that the man wasn’t as aloof and cruel as he made himself out to be.
Although she did not have much ti to carry out that difficult mission, at least Ace would not do anything to Quinton during that period. She could leave the City with peace of mind.
After she walked out of the president’s office, she saw a lot of employees in the corridor.
She only knew so of them, but all of them looked at her with sparkling eyes.
"Hi, Mrs. Moran!"
When so of the senior employees saw her, they waved at her frantically as if they were fans who were eting their idol.
"Umm... hi." Joanna nodded politely before she corrected them, "Please don’t address as Mrs. Moran anymore. I’ve divorced your president."
She felt annoyed every ti she thought about it. She had divorced the sa man twice, and the second ti had been thanks to Quinton. It was just like when Ace pretended to be Mr. Q and married her. She was dumbfounded throughout the process even though she was the one marrying him.
At that ti, Quinton had made Ace sign a docunt since the latter was blind and held hostage in Carmine Pawnshop-that docunt had been a divorce agreent.
After that, she divorced Ace for the second ti. It was quite a bit of a hassle.
"It doesn’t matter, you’ll always be Mrs. Moran to us. Please co and see us more often, think of us as family." The senior employees’ eyes turned watery as they said to Joanna.
Back then, they had witnessed Mr. and Mrs. Moran’s love story when they were in a love-hate relationship. It had been so tumultuous that the senior employees felt like they were watching a drama.
"Yes, we’re your family. Please co and see us more often..." The other senior employees echoed enthusiastically.
The sound of heels clacking on the ground filled the air, and instantly, the employees fell silent. They lowered their heads quickly, full of trepidation.
"Well, with all this fuss happening, I thought a VIP was visiting Moran group. I didn’t expect that it was you... Miss Pierce,’ Seraphina sneered as she ca over, swinging an exclusive branded bag. The look she gave Joanna was full of envy and hatred.
"Hi, Miss Murphy." The employees greeted Seraphina softly.
Seraphina smiled gracefully and waved at them. "I bought coffee and snacks for all of you. Thank you for your hard work."
"Thank you, Miss Murphy."
"You don’t have to thank , it’s what I should do. And you don’t have to call Miss Murphy either, it’s too formal. Just call Mrs. Moran..." Seraphina said with a triumphant smirk.
The employees either rolled their eyes or twitched their lips before they returned to their working spaces. "Okay, Miss Murphy. We’ll get back to work."
To them, Joanna was the only one who deserved the title of Mrs. Moran—the others were just wannabes.
Seraphina clenched her fists furiously, but could not do anything to them because she had to maintain her image as an honourable young lady.
"Miss Pierce, didn’t we have a deal? You disappear from Ace’s world, and I’ll be
responsible for him for the rest of his life... But here you are, coming all the way to his
company to et him. You’ve lost your integrity." Seraphina said with a sickly sweet smile.
"I’m sorry." Joanna shrugged, feeling helpless. "Stellar Group’s business overlaps with Moran Group’s, so it’s inevitable that I’ll bump into him. Don’t worry though, I’m just a stranger to
him. I won’t affect your love affair." "Hmph! You won’t affect my love affair?"
