That made Joanna laugh. "They should pray that they don’t lose all their teeth when they try to eat alive!"
"Nice. Your courage is comndable. I’ll give you a round of applause."
Looking at the confident Joanna, Ethan almost overflowed with admiration.
"To be honest with you, the only person I’m afraid of in the entire City is Ace Moran. But now that Ace is gone, those old fools are destined for defeat."
She knew her words were very arrogant, but it was not without reason.
’That ans you’re hoping that Ace’s dead for real. Tsk tsk... Poor Ace. He’s so sincere to you, but you want him dead."
"Sincere?"
Joanna snorted. "How could you utter a blatant lie like that? Ace’s sincere to ? Would you want that kind of sincerity?"
"I know you have a lot of resentnt in your heart, but Ace has his own difficulties too. There are so misunderstandings between you, and those misunderstandings have been brewing inside you for four years.
Neither of you wants to let it go, but..."
’That’s enough!"
Joanna impatiently interrupted Ethan and sneered, "He’s already dead, so these things are aningless now. Talking about them will just reopen old wounds and make feel the pain again..."
"What if Ace cos back from the dead? Would you be willing to give him another chance?"’
Ethan asked one more ti.
He’s probably not the only one who was curious about the answer. Ace would be curious too.
Joanna remained silent for a mont, then said firmly, "No!"
She had only made peace with Ace because he was dead.
If he were to co back to life, she would feel like a clown that he could fool anyti he wanted. Her hatred for him would only deepen.
"Fine. The relationship between you two is way too complicated. We outsiders can’t help you even if we wanted to."
Ethan sighed and shook his head.
"Why do you keep asking that? What about you? I heard that your love life has been pretty bumpy in recent years. Shirley White has you completely under her spell. I heard you did a lot of things for her that you normally wouldn’t do."
Joanna joked.
She would occasionally read entertainnt gossip when she was bored, and Ethan was famous for his high-profile acts to make his girlfriend happy
The most famous one was him booking the entire Ti Plaza, which was a famous landmark in the City, and covering the entire plaza with red roses to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. It made lots of won envious.
He was so famous that even Clara would often gossip about him.
However, unlike other won, Clara was not envious. She would always laugh out loud when she talked about him, saying that Ethan was a fool.
"Sigh. I don’t feel like talking about those embarrassing things. In short... I’ve fallen for her hard!"
Ethan awkwardly coughed a few tis and said, "I’ll tell you the details when we have ti. I’m in a real dilemma."
At that mont, the press conference officially began. Jovan finished up his socializing and took his seat at the very center.
Alexander, Ace’s father, suddenly stord in. He pointed at Jovan and yelled, "You shaless rat! Get up! You don’t deserve to sit in that position!"
It caused a huge uproar. The caras flashed non-stop. The major drama that everyone was eagerly anticipating had arrived surprisingly quickly.
Joanna and Ethan also stopped chatting to focus on the stage.
Jovan did not panic. His thin lips curled into a smile as he bowed and gestured an invitation to Alexander. "You’re right, Uncle Alexander.
Although you only have shares but no real power in Moran Group now, you still have the highest status in the entire Moran family outside of grandpa’s generation. Since you’re here, of course you should take this seat instead.’
Alexander had no intention of putting on an act with Jovan. He accused Jovan in front of all the reporters. ’Do you think I’m only referring to that seat? You did so many dirty things while the Moran Group was in chaos. In ancient tis, you would be like a thief usurping the throne. It’s a cri punishable by execution!"
"Your words are too extre, Uncle Alexander. After Ace t with an accident, the Moran Group beca leaderless, so I rushed back from overseas as quickly as I could to stabilize the situation. As for the subsequent decision made by the board of directors, I’m sure It was made after careful consideration. For the sake of the big picture, I can only comply."
Jovan spread his hands helplessly, as if he usurped the throne out of kindness.
If Alexander’s anger level was at seven out of ten before this, it had now jumped to ten out of ten. "You cunning bastard, still trying to act like you’re the good guy. In that case, tell everyone whose decision it
was. You must have spent every penny you had on bribes."
Jovan smiled and said no more. Instead, he looked over at several board mbers.
The oldest one among them was Barry Brown.
His father had served under General Pierce on the battlefield and later assisted General Pierce in founding the Moran Group. He also joined the Moran Group and was one of the six mbers of the board of directors. He had always been loyal to Ace and held a high position in the company.
But today, he did not behave as he usually did. He told Alexander," Alexander, since you’ve already retired, you shouldn’t interfere in the Moran Group’s decisions anymore. You have plenty of shares, so just sit back and wait for the dividends."
’There are a lot of reporters here today. Be more considerate of the Moran Group’s image. How can you, as an elder, argue with your nephew like this? It’s unsightly. Sit down and stop making a fool out of yourself."
Alexander snorted and said, "Barry Brown, now that’s a surprise. You used to be the Uncle Barry that Ace trusted and respected the most. He entrusted you with so many important business matters, but now you..."
’Things are different now. Pursuing benefits and avoiding harm are rely animal instincts. I rely made the most logical choice. There’s no use trying to persuade . It wouldn’t change anything."
The conversation between them conveyed a large amount of information. Watching from below the stage, Joanna was initially angered, but she then sighed with emotion.

"These things are normal. Even lizards would sever their tail to survive. Humans have to learn to protect themselves too. Ace is already a thing of the past. You would be a fool to still remain in Ace’s faction."
Ethan said without much emotion.
Joanna beca even angrier. "I don’t agree with your nonsense. If you have to pick a side in order to survive too, would you betray Ace and choose to collude with a villain like Jovan?"
Ethan shrugged with a smile. "It’s hard to say. I’ve never been in such a situation before, so I’m not sure what I would do."
"Hmph, Ace would be stirring in his grave if he knew that. If it were , once I chose soone, I would always be loyal to them and I would never betray them, even if it might endanger my life!"
"Are you feeling indignant on Ace’s behalf? Of course you’re taking your husband’s side... Looks like you still have feelings for him. If he knew, he would definitely feel so happy that he would co back to life."
Ethan jokes.
