Upon the arrival of the alien soldier, Thorin, still struggling to make sense of everything, clenched his teeth. "Dammit, what now?! What do they want from us this ti?!"
None of us had any answers, though. The alien soldier stood motionless—silent, imposing and intimidating—fixing its gaze on John with an intensity that made John tremble.
Eventually, after a mont of hesitation, John mustered the courage to speak, his voice shaky. "D-Did I do sothing wrong?? I an, the trial said only one of us can proceed to the final stage, right? So... I figured I should get rid of these six guys to make sure that I’m the only one who gets to advance."
It was then the alien soldier, who had remained silent the entire ti, suddenly spoke. "Ah, don’t mind . I’m just here to deliver a ssage."
"Oh, what is it?" John asked, his voice respectful as he stared up at the giant 12-foot-tall alien soldier.
"Well, nothing much. I’m just here to let you know there’s a minor problem, so the final trial will be delayed a bit. That’s why we didn’t set a ti limit for the 4th trial in the first place. Besides, it’s not a big deal anyway, considering ti works differently here. To put it simply, one year in this world equals just one day in the outside world," the alien explained.
"I see, so that’s how it is," John said, nodding as he processed the information.
"Yep, exactly," the alien soldier replied. "Since there’s a delay with the final trial, you and your party are free to do whatever you need to pass the ti. There’s no rush right now, so you can take it easy. Once we’ve resolved the minor issue on our end, I’ll return here to update you on the new schedule for the final trial. Just keep an ear out, and stay tuned—we’ll get things sorted out as soon as we can," the alien said.
"Got it. Well, I’m always ready, so just let know when it’s ti for the final trial," John said with a carefree grin.
"Of course, no problem. It shouldn’t take long anyway. It’s just a minor issue to fix," the alien said. "Alright, I’ll take my leave now. By the way, the final trial is likely to start in a few months from now. This ans that, in the outside world, only a few days will pass for us. So, consider yourself lucky to have the chance to enjoy a few months’ worth of ti in this world of trials," the alien added.
I’m not entirely sure what the alien ant by "the outside world," but I’d assu he was referring to the fact that ti in the colossal spaceship is different from ti in this world of trials. Now that I think about it, maybe this world is actually a dungeon—that could explain why the ti here is different. But then again, who knows? Maybe I’m just overthinking after all.
"Thank you for letting know. I’ll keep that in mind," John replied with a respectful nod.
The alien soldier nodded slightly, acknowledging John’s response. Without another word, the alien turned around, his movents smooth and deliberate, and stepped toward the shimring portal. The air around it seed to hum as the alien vanished through it. Just like that, the alien was gone, leaving the underground dungeon quiet once more.
After the alien soldier left, John imdiately shifted his attention to us. "Alright, I’m in a bit of a bad mood right now, so let’s get started right away," he said, his voice sharp.
I could see the anger in John’s eyes—he clearly resented having to lower himself in front of the alien, almost as if he despised being controlled by them. It was as though he had a deep-seated sense of superiority, the kind of person who could never stand being beneath anyone. And in this case, he felt inferior to the alien, but sadly, at the mont, he wasn’t powerful enough to go up against the aliens.
"Hmm, killing all of you at once would be too boring and no fun," John said with a cold grin. "So let’s do it one at a ti. It’ll be far more interesting this way." He paused for a mont, scanning us as if considering who to pick first. "Very well! We’ll start with Cain first."
"W-Wait, what?! Why ?!" Cain yelled, clearly freaking out. "This isn’t fair! Why does it have to be first?!" He looked around, desperately trying to avoid being picked first. His panic was obvious—he definitely wasn’t ready to accept his death yet.
In a last-ditch attempt to save himself, Cain turned to the girls, his eyes locking on Sasha. "Sasha should die first! After all, the phrase ’ladies first’ exists for a reason! So take her instead of ! Bitches first, n after!" he pleaded, desperation in his voice.
"Cain, you fucking bastard!" Sylvara, the mage, snapped, clearly furious. "How dare you treat Sasha like that?! You should be ashad to even call yourself a man!" Her eyes were burning with fury, and the anger in her voice was unmistakable. "Seriously, shut up! Stop complaining and just accept your fate already!"
"Shut the fuck up, Sylvara! You fucking bitch! Who the hell are you to tell what to do?!" Cain shot back, his voice filled with rage.
Seeing Cain and Sylvara arguing, I couldn’t help but laugh quietly to myself. I didn’t expect Cain to show his sexist side at the very last mont. But I couldn’t really bla him; he was just desperate and wasn’t ready to face his death yet. Welp, whatever. It’s none of my concern; it’s not like I could do anything to help anyway.
"Alright, both of you, shut the hell up!" John snapped. "If you make angry, you’ll both suffer even more. So be obedient and do as I say if you want to lessen your suffering!"
With those words, John turned his gaze to the two undead goblins standing nearby. His tone shifted, firm but asured, as he issued his command. "Alright, grab Cain and take him to the other room now! Move fast, because my patience is wearing thin!"
Imdiately, the two undead goblins bowed their heads in unison, their movents stiff but quick, before grabbing Cain aggressively and dragging him out of the cell room. The rest of us stood in tense silence, watching helplessly as Cain was forcibly taken away.
"Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I can’t accept this!!!" Cain begged desperately, but it was all in vain.
It was difficult to watch, but what could we do? We had no power to oppose John. On top of that, the restriction collars around our necks had severely weakened our power, leaving us extrely vulnerable.
CLANG!
"Fuccckkk!!!" Thorin punched the iron bars in frustration, feeling hopeless as he realized he couldn’t do anything to save Cain, let alone stand a chance against John.
