Vol 2 Chapter 22: Huang Wushang

A powerful being.

The mont Huang Wushang detected Mo Wen, she confird his identity.

In this world, aside from that Divine Martial Emperor, absolutely no one else could be this powerful. That he even brought along that slippery eel for this visit showed genuine consideration.

In the next instant, she transford into a human form specialized in close-quarters combat - a handso young man in red armor wielding a giant halberd, soaring into the sky.

She laughed heartily: "Divine Martial Emperor's visit, I failed to welco you properly. Please forgive my poor hospitality."

Mo Wen realized the Phoenix was quite friendly toward him, but didn't want their conversation known to her descendants. However...

"Long Yunshui, what exactly did you say back then? Why does the Phoenix get so excited when she sees you?"

Long Yunshui's eyes darted around: "No idea. Maybe you could move your hand from the back of my neck first? It's not convenient for making an escape."

Mo Wen sighed softly. After all, Long Yunshui was the first friendly living being he encountered in this world and had helped him nurous tis. He couldn't just stand by and watch her get beaten without doing anything.

He released Long Yunshui, allowing her to retreat behind him while bowing to Huang Wushang: "Senior Phoenix, I ca to request your assistance in dealing with the signs of dynastic decline."

"Regarding your matter with Long Yunshui, perhaps I could diate sowhat. Please tell the reason."

Huang Wushang paused. Her eyes remained fixed on Long Yunshui, but she ultimately didn't imdiately attack: "Divine Martial Emperor, you may address as Huang Wushang."

"That was not only the na I used as a human, but also the na I'm determined to use as a Phoenix."

"Long Yunshui - this terrible na was temporarily chosen just because you thought Yunxiang tea tasted good, wasn't it?"

Long Yunshui, hiding behind Mo Wen, cautiously peeked out, tilting her head with effort to smile and raising her right hand in a maneki-neko pose, trying to appear harmless: "Ehehe!"

In the next instant, Huang Wushang's face darkened.

Her expression beca unreadable, only those phoenix eyes visible as if burning with fire.

She spoke in a terrifyingly calm voice: "Between us, it's just a minor conflict. I won't kill her. But since she's co right before , I can't help but want to teach her a lesson."

"Don't worry, it'll be superficial wounds at most."

Mo Wen couldn't help turning back to look at Long Yunshui: "So, what happened?"

"Long Yunshui - this terrible na was chosen on a whim just because you thought Yunxiang tea tasted good, wasn't it?"

"I've already apologized and repented. I ant well at the ti, and I'll absolutely never do it again."

Ah, after all, she is a dragon.

Mo Wen calmly sidestepped, moving two kiloters away.

Amid Long Yunshui's screams of "Mo Wen, save !", he watched as these long-separated, kindred spirits engaged in passionate, exhilarating friendly activities.

Monts later, having changed forms into a great red robe resembling wedding attire that exuded virtuous wife and mother energy, Huang Wushang carried the bruised and battered Long Yunshui, smiling gently at Mo Wen: "Sorry to keep you waiting, Divine Martial Emperor. Although I've resolved to ignore worldly affairs, this gift is truly rare."

"If I went looking for her myself, this slippery eel would definitely run away."

"With you here, she chose not to escape... I couldn't bring myself to beat her back to her true form in front of her acquaintance. And she probably wanted to use this opportunity to settle old grievances by taking a minor beating."

Dangling from Huang Wushang's hand, barely conscious Long Yunshui exclaid in surprise: "Eh? That's what I was thinking? Then doesn't that an Brother Mo Wen owes a favor?"

The gently smiling wife imdiately delivered a gut punch, the fierce force transmitting through the body that made the petite dragon lady curl up like a shrimp, a sonic boom cloud erupting from her lower back.

Huang Wushang said with a gentle expression: "Pay no mind to this foolish dragon. She has no descendants, no long-term interaction with short-lived species - she's the most long-lived species-like among us."

"According to her, beating her like this is equivalent to a regular person being hit for a few seconds compared to our existence ti. Compared to our lifespans, it's but a fleeting mont."

"A mortal's hundred years - how insignificant compared to true longevity..."

As she spoke, Huang Wushang's expression changed, turning serious: "So, Divine Martial Emperor, as a long-lived species, do you truly intend to help those insignificant mortals forcibly survive this late dynasty calamity?"

"This calamity isn't a tangible enemy. It's not even visible mountain collapses or tsunamis, but an intangible disaster that suddenly manifests on everyone."

"You might slaughter all living beings, but you cannot kill soone's ti of natural death. In this war between you and natural law, there won't be a visible enemy whose death ends everything."

"As ti passes, beautiful lives completely collapse, unstoppable death sweeps through all living things. Those who once worshiped you will spurn you, the legends and epics composed for you will turn into curses."

"They will stop believing in you, stop obeying you. They will begin to refuse, to resist, and the next dynasty will prove their resistance was correct."

Mo Wen said calmly: "What concern are their loves and hates to ? I decided to transform this world based on my own thoughts, not acting for others' admiration."

"I want to live with all my strength, that's all."

"Moreover, intangible disasters aren't unsolvable."

"During the Hundred Birds Dynasty, facing extrely severe plagues, you could only actively burn the infected, creating quarantine belts. By the Ancestral Spirit Dynasty, the sick would thodically burn themselves, transmitting their souls to inheritors through secret thods, believing they would continue through this way."

"During the Qilin Imperial Court period, people used great arrays to drive away and kill disease energy, obliterating plagues. Now in the Chenyao Dynasty, we've completely deciphered disease energy's transmission thods, with Dao Institutes distributing charm water everywhere to strangle it before outbreak."

Huang Wushang countered: "This proves even more that dynastic change is correct. Without the signs of decline, if people beco satisfied at any mont, technology won't progress."

"And disease energy is completely different from late dynasty calamities. Being able to solve disease energy doesn't an people have the possibility to solve the causes leading to decline in this generation."

Mo Wen's emotions showed no fluctuation, as if stating sothing universally known: "Progress doesn't require war and chaos to nurture it - re dissatisfaction is enough."

"I've seen civilizations that continuously advance driven by thirst for progress."

"Whether this generation solves the problem or not, I don't care. The key is - we must try with all our strength!"

Huang Wushang looked at this man before her. She had doubted whether the so-called Divine Martial Emperor was soone with nothing but power, but truly eting him made her realize this was a strong individual scarred like sea cliffs yet stubbornly resisting the ocean.

Just like that person she had loved.

Huang Wushang said wistfully: "I once made a promise with soone to live happily. So I won't rashly gamble with my life. But aside from that, you may command as you wish."

As she spoke, Huang Wushang's expression changed, turning serious: "So, Divine Martial Emperor, as a long-lived species, do you truly intend to help those insignificant mortals forcibly survive this late dynasty calamity?"

"Boom!" A powerful strike interrupted Long Yunshui's words.

Huang Wushang smiled: "Well then, Divine Martial Emperor, let's discuss the specific details of the work ahead."
