A little past one in the morning.

Rong Zhi received a call from the hospital.

The hospital’s on-duty nurse couldn’t find Rong Xian’an, and Ying Man was in a state of ntal collapse, unable to take charge. Rong Fangjun was still lying in the hospital himself, so the call ended up going to Rong Zhi.

"I’m sorry to disturb you, Miss Rong. It’s like this, your sister, the patient Rong ng, is currently being resuscitated in the operating room, and we need a family mber to sign a critical condition notice..."

The nurse briefly explained the process of Rong ng being beaten. Rong Zhi put her phone on speaker, set it aside, rubbed her throbbing temples, and slowly got out of bed, pulling open the arm around her waist.

"Okay," she said coolly after the nurse finished, already slipping on her shoes and picking up her phone, "I’ll be there soon."

Just as she moved, a force pulled her clothes backward.

Rong Zhi paused slightly, turned her face to et the sleepy eyes of the man, and softly said, "Sleep first, I’m just going out for a bit."

Bai Su slowly moved from the bed to sit at the edge, releasing his hold on her clothes, instead circling her slender waist. His eyes were extrely sleepy, but he still rubbed her back and spoke in a low and raspy voice, "I’ll go with you."

Rong Zhi going out alone at night made him uneasy.

After speaking, he reluctantly snuggled in front of her, giving a muffled hum.

His hair looked soft but was quite prickling to the skin. His collar was nudged open, itching against the skin.

Rong Zhi pushed at his forehead slightly, but Bai Su refused to let go, holding on tighter and looking down to find that he’d fallen asleep again at so point; this was purely muscle mory.

"..."

She hadn’t wanted to wake him up in the first place.

Helpless, Rong Zhi had no choice but to gently stroke his hair, her fox-like eyes lowered, hiding warmth even she hadn’t noticed.

-

By the ti she reached the hospital, it was nearly three in the morning.

Rong ng was still in the operating room. The doctor, upon hearing that her family mber had arrived, prepared the critical condition notice and explained the situation to Rong Zhi.

"The patient had previously suffered severe injuries. This ti, being struck again caused heart and lung damage. We can only do our best to save her life, but this critical condition notice still needs to be signed."

Rong Zhi’s face was emotionless as she took the pen handed by the doctor and signed her na with a few swift strokes.

Bai Su moved his chin buried in his collar, bending limply over her shoulder, the scent of incense mixed with mint cool and clear, drifting on the delicate white neck.

He murmured in a sticky voice, "Why did you co?"

The red light above the operating room door was glaring.

Rong Zhi slightly raised her eyes to glance at it, pulling the man who was nearly hanging on her to sit beside her, pulling out and unwrapping a candy to put against his lips, "Wake up."

The man lazily opened a thin slit of his eyes, pouted and childishly refused, "No."

Rong Zhi raised her delicate eyebrows; since he didn’t want it, she would eat it herself.

With the candy in her mouth, the cool, refreshing mint mixed with the air, gradually waking her drowsy mind.

She subtly shifted Bai Su’s head from leaning on her; her shoulder was all bone, yet he felt no discomfort while asleep.

"I just wanted to see how she managed to play herself to death."

In the quiet, desolate hallway, the youth’s vague voice was especially rebellious.

Rong Zhi had no particular feelings.

She only ca to see, as one of the culprits who caused He Songzhi’s illness was Rong ng; how could she let Rong ng go?

From the mont she received the hospital call, she knew Ying Man had acted.

Hypnotizing soone is simple. She spent two days learning from Yuan Xiyao, then went to the hospital to hypnotize Ying Man, and after a few days, Ying Man’s cognition had reached the point of error and subsequent insanity.

The pain He Songzhi once suffered is now entirely repaid on them.

Rong Zhi leisurely rolled the candy around her mouth, her eyes dark and deep.

-

Rong ng was lucky enough; she was resuscitated by more than five in the morning, but apart from having a breath, she was no different from being a waste.

She couldn’t manage on her own and needed care.

Rong Zhi hacked into Rong Xian’an’s phone, discovering that he was actually in the underground black market, quite surprised to see the location display.

When she arrived at the black market to see Rong Xian’an, Si Ye unexpectedly raised his eyebrows.

Rong Xian’an’s clothes were filthy, resembling a dog abandoned by its owner, kneeling and huddled low, pleading pitifully and humbly to the burly man in front of him.

From his trembling body, snot-covered face, and confused eyes, Rong Zhi could tell that ultimately, he couldn’t accept the change in his fate, weakly choosing another path to the abyss.

So things, once touched, are hard to quit unless forced.

Many people sell such things in the underground market, and Rong Xian’an could find them if he wanted to, but unfortunately, he had no money.

Due to his large demand, he sold everything in the villa that could be traded, but it still wasn’t enough to et his needs.

The world’s three major sins: gambling, drugs, and prostitution.

And he had picked one of them.

Rong Zhi took a few steps forward, patting the shoulder of the burly man.

The man turned his head imdiately, a cigarette in his mouth revealing yellow teeth as he spoke, "What’s up, dude?"

Rong Zhi casually stuck a hand in her pocket, lifting her delicate chin to point at Rong Xian’an on the ground, "How much does he owe you?"

"Yo."

The burly man playfully raised his voice, scrutinizing the young person in front of him who only showed half their face, then flashed a grin upon eting her clear eyes, "You want this guy? Sure, he owes a million. If you can bring it, he’s yours."

This young visitor seed difficult to provoke, especially with those eerie eyes. Staring at them too long sent a shiver down his spine.

Probably soone not to be ssed with on the streets.

As for Rong Xian’an, well, he was just an ant fallen from the clouds. Now, soone wanted to ransom him out with money, which suited the man perfectly.

To his surprise, the young person lightly shook their head.

The burly man paused, not here to redeem him?

"There’s a place in the black market called the Killing Ground."

She spoke with a very gentle tone, her voice even softer, radiating the aloofness and oppression of soone long in a high position.

"Send him there; earning that sum from one round would easily surpass a million."

The burly man was silent, "..."

Woah!

This kid’s fierce!

The Killing Ground in the black market had existed since the market’s inception, more dreadful than underground boxing and street races.

The death rate was 99%.

The remaining one percent would beco the king of the Killing Ground until soone challenged everyone to beco that one percent, a battle of kings where the victor lived and took the throne from the deceased.

The Killing Ground offered you a substantial encouragent fee if you dared to register, provided you survived to take it ho.

Though the burly man was ruthless, he never considered sending Rong Xian’an there, as entering ant being pulverized would be the least of his worries.

But this kid casually suggested sending Rong Xian’an there.

... Such deep-seated hatred.

The burly man swallowed, took a deep drag from his cigarette, and said, "No need for that, right? From what I heard, his family was quite wealthy. Gathering a million shouldn’t be a problem."
