"Why did we have to change to such a godforsaken place for the exchange this ti? There are so many damn bugs, and each bite leaves a huge welt. It's really annoying..."
The scrawny man with sparse red hair that gave off an air of shrewdness raised his hand and slapped his arm with a "smack," complaining to Wolff beside him in an irritable tone.
In front of them, seven or eight large engineering vehicles crowded on a slightly narrow clearing in the jungle.
People wearing different miner uniforms were operating robotic arms, continuously transferring one heavy-looking box after another from one engineering vehicle to another.
Wolff casually tossed a cigarette to the man, silently lit one for himself, and then shook his head, saying, "There's no choice. People from the mine have co over; we can't just blatantly trade in front of them."
"They sent people again?"
The scrawny man was just about to light a cigarette, but upon hearing Wolff's words, his expression changed. He squinted slightly and said, "Are you planning to take action this ti?
You've done this several tis already. Are you not afraid of pushing them to the limit?"
"What else can we do if we don't take action? Let them investigate us unchallenged?"
Wolff slowly exhaled a ring of smoke, glanced at the man expressionlessly, and said, "If they find out, neither I nor any of the brothers under can escape. We'll spend the rest of our lives eating garbage on Exile Star...
Since I chose to take action back then, this is the only path I can keep taking.
However...."
With the cigarette dangling from his lips, Wolff said lightly, "After this job, there probably won't be a next.
In another six months, I'll wash my hands of all this and walk away."
The scrawny man nodded, "We can't keep doing this forever either.
You've earned quite a lot over the years.
Hank is about to graduate, right?"
"Next month."
"Tsk, tsk..."
The scrawny man couldn't help but click his tongue in admiration, "Graduating from the top chanician University of the Empire, and imdiately selected as a Spirit Court reserve.
Having a brother who's going to be a Spirit Court Guard, I really envy you...
Still, it hasn't been easy for you, single-handedly supporting him until graduation..."
Wolff held his cigarette, a faint sense of pride appearing on his face, "It's mostly because he's capable."
"You both are capable, truly exceptional people!"
The scrawny man gave a thumbs-up, unstinting in his praise.
After chatting for a while, the scrawny man suddenly asked, "What are you planning this ti? Another 'accident' with the mining equipnt?"
"I haven't decided yet."
Wolff tossed the almost-finished cigarette to the ground and crushed it underfoot.
"We probably won't take action any ti soon.
The person who ca this ti seems to have a special status, and the ones with them are even trickier...
We should hold off on trading for a while. Once I've sorted things out on my end, I'll let you know."
The scrawny man frowned slightly, speaking in a low voice, "You better hurry.
One of my buyers seems to be losing interest in continuing.
If he stops buying, it would take at least another six months to contact the next buyer..."
Wolff nodded, "I understand."
As they were talking, suddenly, a part in the shrubs ahead rustled lightly, as if sothing was approaching.
Wolff, noticing this keenly, his eyes flashed, and he swiftly rushed forward, coldly demanding, "Who's there? Show yourself!"
The scrawny man's expression turned grave instantly.
Raising a hand in signal, everyone at the scene imdiately halted their activities. The once noisy forest suddenly fell silent.
More than a dozen eyes fixed on the spot where the shrubs were rustling.
After a few breaths, a well-dressed, handso young man erged effortlessly from behind the shrubs.
As he brushed off the leaves on himself, he looked at the people before him, slightly surprised.
His sowhat bewildered gaze swept over everyone present, finally resting on Wolff. Lifting a hand, he said a bit dazedly, "Good morning, Wolff, right?"
The young man's appearance also took the people at the scene by surprise.
No one spoke, but Wolff quickly reacted, greeting the young man with respect and warmth, "Good morning, honorable mine owner. Did you sleep well last night?
Why are you here?"
"Not really."
The young man shook his head, "The noise from the mining equipnt kept up all night....
I had breakfast this morning and decided to take a walk."
"Did you co here alone, mine owner?"
Wolff's gaze scanned around the young man.
The young man nodded, "Yeah, Lu Feng went out for business early in the morning...."
As soon as he finished this sentence, Wolff's expression changed imdiately.
His eyes slowly narrowed, with lights flashing swiftly within.
"There are a lot of poisonous insects and wild beasts in the forest; it's quite dangerous. It's better not to wander around alone, mine owner..."
Wolff's previously slightly bowed back gradually straightened, and he began to walk slowly toward the young man without giving anything away.
The scrawny man standing behind Wolff seed to realize what he intended.
With a look, he signaled to the workers, each equipped with chanical arms, who then began to slowly move toward the young man.
In the silent jungle, the atmosphere bit by bit turned colder and off.
Yet the young man seed unaware of the subtle change in the atmosphere, his eyes still moving back and forth among the engineering vehicles, filled with curiosity as he asked, "What are you doing here, Wolff?"
"Oh, just so backlog of substandard ore. We're having it refined and processed by soone to increase its value...
To avoid disturbing your rest, mine owner, we specifically chose this place for transferring goods.."
With a smile on his face, Wolff took step after step toward the young man.
"Oh."
