Zhenyi ran after Long Jie, calling out for him loudly. But he didn't stop walking. His steps were neither swift nor slow. He was walking in a manner as if he didn't hear his wife's voice calling for him.
Since Zhenyi was running after him in heels, she was bound to fall down. However, as she stepped on the final stairs to descend to reach her husband, her feet slipped and she lost her footing.
"Jie," a loud shriek escaped her mouth coupled with the sound of a thud.
Hearing the thud, Long Jie turned his head back to see Zhenyi dropping from the stairs. He ran towards her but before he could reach her, her head had hit the tal railing and blood had started rushing from her forehead.
No. No. This was not happening. She was not getting hurt again. He couldn't go back to the ti when she was silently lying on the bed.
"Zhenyi!"Long Jie wasted no ti and collected her in his arms. Before Long Jie, the hidden guards had started acting when they saw Zhenyi hurt.
"What happened?" Zhang Boyan happened to pass by. He froze when he saw Zhenyi lying in Long Jie's arms unconsciously. Collecting his wits, he imdiately added, "I'm a doctor. Let see her."
Zhang Boyan pursed his lips and took out his identity card from his suit pocket to show him that he was indeed a doctor. "Let see her. We can't afford to delay."
"Would she be alright?" Long Jie asked Zhang Boyan, walking back and forth while the latter was checking up on the unconscious Zhenyi. "No. She must be alright or I will make sure you won't ever be able to practice dicine again."
If Zhang Boyan was not bandaging Zhenyi's wound on her forehead, he would have certainly punched Long Jie. If Long Jie couldn't shut up and let him do his job, he should at least leave the room to let him do his job in peace. But seeing the situation and place he was in, he didn't retort.
Truth be told, he didn't want to co in Zhenyi's bad books by arguing with her husband.
"She will wake up after a few hours," Zhang Boyan replied after a while. "Her wound doesn't need stitches. It's just a minor tear, nothing major to worry about."
"Nothing to worry about?" Long Jie sneered. "My wife is unconscious and you are saying I shouldn't worry about her? What kind of doctor are you?"

"She fell unconscious due to her alcohol intake not the injury on her head," Zhang Boyan inford. "You have to keep an eye on her alcohol consumption."
Actually, one couldn't bla Long Jie for thinking so unreasonable. Zhenyi's last accident had done a number on him. It seed he was greatly traumatized by her accident. And whenever she gets hurt, his unreasonable self erges.
"How about you get your wife checked by your doctor again?"Zhang Boyan uttered when he saw that Long Jie didn't believe his examination. "I'm sure he will be here any mont. Get Miss Zhenyi checked by him once again and hear the sa explanation from him."
Long Jie didn't pay any attention to him. He just ignored him and let the other doctor who ca a few minutes later check his wife. When the doctor checked her, he also inford him of the sa examination as Zhang Boyan.
"Dr. Zhang?" The doctor who checked Zhenyi for the second ti called out in surprise. He couldn't believe his eyes that he t his idol here. Dr. Zhang Boyan, thirty five, heir of the Zhang family that was a dicinal clan, was one of the top surgeons in the country.
Zhang Boyan just politely nodded. Although he was a genius at what he did, he wasn't arrogant or proud as one at his post must be. It was because he knew that he wasn't the only one who could achieve what he has achieved today. He has always believed that if Alcina had pursued the sa career, she would have long surpassed him but the girl was more interested in poisonous animals or the weirdest stuff she could concoct from the elents they all used to make dicines from.
"Mr. Long, I suggest you follow Dr. Zhang's prescription," The doctor kindly suggested. "Dr. Zhang is a genius in our line of work. With Dr. Zhang's examination, I don't think anything can go wrong."
Long Jie just nodded. "Sure. If anything 'unfortunately' went wrong, I am sure Dr. Ma will be here to face consequences."
The doctor felt his forehead sweating unusually. Why was it so hot in this room? His heart disease must be flaring up? Wasn't that why he was feeling so nervous?
"Mr. Long, I will take my leave. Please inform once Mrs. Long wake up, I will check up on her once again." With this said, the doctor ran faster than an athlete.
"Does it always work out for you?" Zhang Boyan asked Long Jie while his eyes were still fixed on Zhenyi's 'innocent' face. Why must such a beautiful girl marry this cold blooded psycho? She could have married any normal man and lead a happy life.
"Work for what?" Long Jie asked in curiosity but he didn't bother to look at him. Anyway, he was just seconds away from throwing him out of the room.
"Threatening people for your benefit," ca the reply.
"Most of the ti," Long Jie replied. "And other tis, I just get rid of them. Simple."
"I wonder if it's in your Dna or it's just your and Alcina's thing," Zhang Boyan found himself replying.
"So, you are from the infamous Zhang family," Now Zhang Boyan had Long Jie's all of the attention. Even he wanted to know about this Zhang family.
"And you are the reason why Alcina is still connected with that family of traitors," Zhang Boyan scoffed. He replied to him in the sa manner as Long Jie did. Of course, he knew why Alcina was so hung up on the Long family especially when she didn't care about them. "If you really cared about your so-called half sister as you make it appear, you would not have made her acquainted with your family. They are snakes with their fangs spread, all ready to hiss her to death once they get the opportunity. Although Lord Ryuu is powerful, I wonder how long he would protect her. One day he had to choose between his wife and your wife… After all, he is just a nominal head."
"What did you say?" Long Jie asked him too calmly.
Before Zhang Boyan could reply, the door to the room opened and in entered Alcina along with Faye. She was shocked to see both n conversing together. She didn't know why but the look on Long Jie's face scared her.
"What are you both talking about?" Alcina found herself asking the question. The smile on her face was stiff and awkward. It was as if she was worrying that her secret might be discovered anyti soon.
"He was telling how I should have let 'my sister' not get acquainted with the Long family," It was Long Jie who broke the uneasy silence.
Alcina's face changed in an instant. The thing she had been worried about had happened. Long Jie found the truth. She found Long Jie staring at her with accusation in his eyes. She opened her mouth to say sothing but closed it again when no words ca out.
"Mama?" Faye's soft voice jolted Alicia from the stupor.
Alcina looked down to find her baby girl blinking at her.
"Washroom?" Faye reminded her while pointing at the washroom door.
"Oh, go baby I will wait for you here," Alcina said.
"No, mama. You said you have to go to the washroom," Faye looked at her mom in confusion.
"I-i…"
"It's okay, mama." Faye's eyes shifted towards the bed and she found Zhenyi lying there. Her forehead was covered with a band aid. "What happened to Aunt?"
"Your Aunt fell down and hurt herself," Zhang Boyan replied to the replica of Lord Ryuu. "You should walk carefully and prevent yourself from falling down like your Aunt, okay?"
Faye just nodded at the stranger.
"Ge?" Alcina whispered.
"Not now, Alcina," Long Jie said, turning all her advances to talk to him. Turning towards Faye, he added,"Take your mama to your dad and tell them not to worry about your Aunt. She is just sleeping."
