*Click! Click!*
The door to the apartnt opened with a click as soone inserted the key inside the lock and unlocked it. He stepped inside the living room and sothing fell on his feet as the room was dark lit and he couldn't make out what it was so he ignored it and walked forth. He should be surprised that the lights didn't switch on automatically like they usually did whenever he stepped inside the apartnt, but things didn't surprise him these days.
He walked ahead and with every step he took forward, the heart in his chest hamred, paralyzing his body with fear. Fear of sothing very known. Sothing he shouldn't have done but it was too late to undo it. Moreover, he was not given the option to do things otherwise.
He opened the door to his bedroom and found the room pit dark with the exceptional on and off of the lamp. He could sense that soone was sitting on his chair near his desk and was fiddling with the lamp button.
*ON!*
He saw the profile of the person sitting on the chair as the light switched on for a few seconds and terror gripped his body.
"You don't seem surprised?" The man sitting on the chair in the darkroom was Long Jie. Even he could see that the person he was waiting for didn't seem as surprised as he anticipated.
'Very Good! So they don't have to do the dance of oblivion!'
Looking at how Long Jie was staring into the blankness, the man answered with a grimace, "I know you would co after if not soone from her family first."
And then Long Jie turned around, as his eyes focused on his silhouette, he hissed venomously, "And you still chose to betray her?"
All Long Jie wanted was to catch this bastard and shoot him in the gut but it would be too easy death for a rat like him. His wife trusted him and what did he give her in return?
The betrayal! He would be punished and that too badly!
There was a special place in hell for treacherous and disloyal people like him. If allowed, he would burn him alive in the pyre of his suffering and agony but no. Not like this, he didn't want to kill him with his own hand but at the sa ti, he wanted to cut him into shreds and feed it to the dogs or hang his body in the middle of the city and announce to the world that whoever dared to lay hands on his wife would suffer the sa fate.
"I don't have another choice," Alexander, the head of Zhenyi's security team and her temporary Right hand stared at Long Jie's face and said. He rubbed his hands on his face and added in a painful voice, "Hell, I was never given a choice."
Yes, the man who indirectly helped Zhenyi was Alexander who also happened to be her Security head and was working in place of Cao Feng as he was currently not healthy enough to resu his job, and it was mainly the reason he successfully implented his plans.
"Wrong. We always have choices even when we think we don't have one. It is always us who made our mind think otherwise," answered Long Jie.
Alexander let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Funny coming from you."
Long Jie leaned against the chair and shook his head. "I'm talking from experience. It is not about that our choices are limited, it has always been about who or what is limiting our choices."
Alexander stepped back as he heard Long Jie's voice full of accusation. 'He didn't betray his boss, it was just that he had no other option.'
"You betrayed her," Long Jie simply announced. Alexander shook his head. He seed to have been placed into a difficult situation. His conscience, if he had any, was not accepting that he had betrayed the person who made him what he was today. Long Jie could sense what he was going through but he didn't stop just he. He went on," She trusted you but you chose to break her trust. She hasn't seen it coming from you. The great betrayal. She will never forgive you. Well, only if you will be alive till then."
Alexander kept on stepping backward and shaking his head at Long Jie's accusations.
"You are nothing but an enemy Alexander and you know what's the consequence of choosing to be the enemy of Xin Zhenyi or Long Jie," Long Jie spat out.
Joseph Heller once said, "The enemy is anybody who's going to get you killed, no matter which side he is on." Alexander was not an enemy in the beginning but he was transford into one at the mont he preferred to join hands with those who were trying to kill her. It was his duty, his oath, and his obligation to protect her at any cost. He beca the enemy the mont he broke his oath and what was a man without his words?
There were many kinds of enemies. The worst enemies, the sworn enemies, the friends turned into enemies and whatnot. But none is as dangerous as the one pretending to be your friend or accomplice.
And Alexander was one, the reasons why he beca one didn't matter because an enemy is an enemy no matter what forced him to beco one.
"So, lets stop your emotional discourse and tell who was limiting your choice of giving your loyalty to your Boss? What made you break your oath? Who persuaded you break the trust of on you should honor?"
This novel is a contracted work with W e b n o v e l. c o m (remove spaces). If you're not reading 'The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife ' on W e b n o v e l, it has been stolen. It's very heartbreaking to see pirates profiting from my hard work. Please support the original author,(tanu_sam).
