Shen Qinglan and Fang Tong left the dormitory building and went their separate ways, Fang Tong headed to the library to look up so information, while Shen Qinglan planned to visit her own apartnt at Shangya Garden, she needed to organize the previous sketches and then have Daniel co over to pick them up.
"This sister, do you know where Yan Shengyu is?" Just as she arrived at the school gate, Shen Qinglan heard a familiar voice, she followed the sound and saw Ya Xi, whom she hadn’t seen in a long ti, asking a girl not far from her.
The girl seed to be a new student this year, unfamiliar with Yan Shengyu, she shook her head, and Ya Xi looked disappointed, glancing around as if searching for her next target to inquire.
Shen Qinglan instinctively didn’t like this and was about to avoid her when Ya Xi’s voice rang out, "Big sister."
Then, Shen Qinglan saw a figure rushing towards her swiftly.
"Big sister, it really is you, I thought I was mistaken just now," Ya Xi stood in front of Shen Qinglan with a face full of surprised smile.
Having no way to avoid it, Shen Qinglan had to stand her ground, though her face was as cold as usual, Ya Xi couldn’t make out any other expression.
But soon, the surprise on Ya Xi’s face turned into confusion. "Big sister, aren’t you from Hang City? Why are you here at B University? Oh, I know, you’re a student at B University, aren’t you?"
Ya Xi looked as though she had discovered a great secret, excited like a child, although in Shen Qinglan’s eyes she really was just a child.
Shen Qinglan didn’t confirm nor deny, asking instead, "Why are you here?"
Ya Xi finally rembered her original intent. "I ca to find my brother, his na is Yan Shengyu. Big sister, do you know him?"
"I don’t know him." Shen Qinglan told a barefaced lie without blushing or skipping a heartbeat.
Ya Xi looked dejected, "My brother is quite famous in the school; how could you not know him? But it’s okay, I can introduce you two. Big sister, let tell you, my brother is really handso and he’s even the heartthrob of your school, you’ll definitely like him."
Ya Xi spoke more and more excitedly, almost as if she couldn’t wait to push Shen Qinglan right in front of Yan Shengyu.
"If you ca to find your brother, why didn’t you just call him directly?" Shen Qinglan interrupted her monologue.
"I was coming to have dinner with my brother, but I lost my phone and didn’t morize his number, so I had no choice but to ask around one by one; I never expected to see you here, big sister."
"Big sister, do you know, after you rescued last ti, I asked my brother to find you, but he couldn’t, and soon after we returned to Beijing. When I thought that I might never see you again, I felt really sad for a long ti."
Shen Qinglan walked on while Ya Xi followed behind, chattering about how much she had missed her during this ti.
"Aren’t you supposed to be finding your brother? Why keep following ?" Shen Qinglan reluctantly looked at the little girl beside her.
"Of course I’m following you, big sister. My brother is right over there and he won’t run away. It’s not easy to et you and I haven’t even had a proper chat with you," Ya Xi said as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Your brother will be worried if he can’t find you," Shen Qinglan remarked, expecting that would surely send the little girl off to find her brother, but Ya Xi always managed to surprise her.
"My brother has no idea I’m coming, he won’t be worried at all. Big sister, just let follow you, please? I don’t have any money on , and now I can’t find my brother, you wouldn’t have the heart to leave alone, would you?" Ya Xi looked at Shen Qinglan with a pitiful expression.
eting those dewy and clear eyes, Shen Qinglan felt a softness in her heart, "I can treat you to a al, but after we eat, you must go find your brother."
Ya Xi nodded vigorously, not worrying about what would happen after the al, deciding to follow for now.
Ya Xi genuinely liked Shen Qinglan, especially since Shen Qinglan had saved her last ti, that affection had grown deeper. She hadn’t lied earlier; after returning to Beijing, she indeed felt sad for a long ti because she couldn’t see Shen Qinglan.
Ya Xi might be naive, but she wasn’t stupid. eting Shen Qinglan here, if at first, it was because she was too surprised to react, now she understood that Shen Qinglan probably wasn’t really from Hang City. She said that just to appease her.
If it had been anyone else treating her this way, Ya Xi would have been furious long ago, but since it was Shen Qinglan, she only felt grateful. She was grateful Shen Qinglan wasn’t from Hang City, grateful that there would be a day they could et again.
Shen Qinglan, with Ya Xi, naturally couldn’t go to Shangya Garden, so she changed plans on the fly and took Ya Xi for a stroll nearby.
Throughout the walk, Ya Xi chattered non-stop, sharing amusing incidents she had encountered. Shen Qinglan, whowas typically reserved, showed no impatience and listened patiently.
"Should you be taking your college entrance exams next year?" Shen Qinglan asked, rembering that Ya Xi was currently in her final year of high school.
Ya Xi was suddenly interrupted, a fleeting look of perplexity on her face, "Ah? Oh, yes, we’ve already gone through the first round of reviews."
"Have you decided which university you want to apply to?"
Ya Xi scratched her head, "I haven’t thought it through yet." Her gaze caught Shen Qinglan’s, her eyes lighting up, "I’ll apply for University B, then I can be at the sa school as you, big sister." The more she thought about it, the more excellent the idea seed, never considering whether her grades would be good enough for University B.
Shen Qinglan rcilessly shattered her beautiful illusion, "I’m graduating next year."
Hearing this, the smile on Ya Xi’s face completely froze, as if soone had splashed a bucket of cold water over her in the dead of winter.
Shen Qinglan found it amusing inside; this was a pure-hearted girl whose emotions were always plain to see on her face. Perhaps this was one of the reasons she couldn’t dislike her—Shen Qinglan liked unadulterated things.
Shen Qinglan took Ya Xi to a nearby barbecue restaurant, "Is barbecued at okay for lunch?" Shen Qinglan asked for Ya Xi’s preference.
Ya Xi nodded weakly, feeling listless ever since she learned Shen Qinglan would graduate the next year.
"Although I’ll be graduating, I will still be in Beijing. You can co find when you have ti," Shen Qinglan said faintly, her clear voice like a pot of water on a sumr’s day, moisturizing Ya Xi’s parched heart.
"Really, big sister? Can I really co find you in the future?"
Shen Qinglan nodded affirmatively.
Ya Xi was genuinely delighted; big sister was willing to let her co find her, which ant she was willing to accept her. For Ya Xi, this was more thrilling than receiving a long-coveted gift.
"However, you must be admitted to University B," Shen Qinglan added, knowing from Ya Xi’s ramblings that her grades weren’t that great.
"Don’t worry, big sister, I will definitely get into University B with my own abilities," Ya Xi said, full of confidence.
