As the laughter and chatter continued, Shen Qinglan’s phone screen lit up.

Seeing the caller ID, Shen Qinglan’s expression paused. She gracefully pushed herself off the bed rail and landed lightly on the floor, a sight her dorm mates were used to by now.

She took the phone and headed straight to the balcony, closing the balcony door behind her.

"Hello," her clear voice traveled through the call to Fu Hengyi.

"Are you asleep?" Fu Hengyi asked.

Shen Qinglan glanced back at the two people making a ruckus in the dorm room, shook her head, and then rembered the person on the other end couldn’t see her.

"Not yet."

Hearing the faint noise through the earpiece, Fu Hengyi guessed, "You’re at school?"

"Yeah."

"Why not stay at ho? Is it uncomfortable at ho?"

"No, it’s just that there are so things at school these days; it’s more convenient to stay at the dorm." Shen Qinglan explained, without ntioning that she had spent a night in the apartnt, lost sleep because of Fu Hengyi’s unfamiliar scent, and, not wanting to return to the Shen Family, opted for the dorm.

Fu Hengyi didn’t press further, only responded with a simple "Hmm."

Shen Qinglan moved the phone away from her ear, checked the ti, "Did you just get back? At the hotel?"

"Yeah, recently I’ve been getting back quite late." Actually, today was the earliest Fu Hengyi had returned; in the past week, he hadn’t returned to the hotel before midnight, refraining from calling Shen Qinglan to avoid disturbing her.

Knowing their work had certain unique aspects, different from regular security firms, with strict rules, Shen Qinglan didn’t ask further, only reminded him to rest.

"Are you concerned about ?" Fu Hengyi’s voice, laced with a smile, reached Shen Qinglan, making her cheeks slightly warm.

"You’re my husband. Isn’t it natural for to be concerned?" Shen Qinglan replied calmly, if one ignored her current unusual complexion.

This ti, Fu Hengyi truly laughed, his deep laughter resonating in his chest and in Shen Qinglan’s ears.

Shen Qinglan remained silent, listening to the laughter around her, feeling an unexpected calm.

Silence lingered between them, yet neither felt awkward.

"I have a three-day leave at the end of the month," Fu Hengyi said.

Shen Qinglan paused, and after a long mont, said, "Oh."

Fu Hengyi smiled silently, "Take good care of yourself while I’m not at ho. If you find the apartnt uncomfortable, go stay at the family ho, I’ve already inford Grandfather."

Shen Qinglan acknowledged with a simple affirmation.

"It’s getting late, sleep early, goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Just as Shen Qinglan was about to hang up, Fu Hengyi’s voice softly ca through the phone, like feathers brushing against Shen Qinglan’s heart, bringing a bit of an itch.

He said, "Qinglan, I miss you."

Fu Hengyi hung up, looking at the pitch-black night sky, a silent smile on his lips. For this past week, whenever he had a mont, Shen Qinglan’s image would appear in his mind.

Cold, calm, sad... except, none of her smiling.

His heart ached slightly, for the girl who first made him yearn. He didn’t know if it was love, he only knew he wanted to see her smile, to see her happy, to see her smile because of him.

This was not only his promise to the late elder, but also his deepest wish.

He thought, this girl nad Shen Qinglan had indeed entered his heart, but he didn’t resist this feeling; it wasn’t bad at all.

Shen Qinglan ended the call and, upon stepping back into the dorm room, t two pairs of inquisitive eyes.

"Qinglan, honestly, which handso guy were you calling just now?" Yu Xiaoxuan grinned mischievously.

"Yeah, be honest, don’t say we’re just guessing. Your flushed cheeks have already given you away," Fang Tong added, for once aligning with Yu Xiaoxuan.

"You’ve guessed wrong, my face is red only because it’s too hot outside," Shen Qinglan remained calm.

eting their stare, Shen Qinglan’s steady gaze caused Fang Tong and Yu Xiaoxuan to sheepishly avert their eyes; they had hoped for so juicy gossip.

Shen Qinglan climbed back onto her bed nonchalantly, surveyed the room, and noticed Wu Qian’s absence. "Where’s Wu Qian?"

"She got a call, rushed out with her bag in a hurry. Didn’t say what for, just ntioned eting a friend, all secretive."

Hearing this, Shen Qinglan paid no mind. It was just a casual question, and she picked up the book she had been reading, flipping to the page she last stopped at.

But after five minutes, she hadn’t absorbed a single word, sowhat frustratedly setting the book aside and decided to sleep.

anwhile, Wu Qian ran all the way downstairs from the dorm, heading straight for a waiting figure under a tree.

"Why are you here?"

Chen Qingtian looked at Wu Qian tenderly, "I missed you, so I wanted to see you."

Wu Qian looked down, her face full of shyness.

Chen Qingtian glanced at Wu Qian, "Why aren’t you wearing the new clothes I bought you today?"

Wu Qian smiled, "I washed the new clothes, they’re not dry yet, so..." In truth, she feared the other three in the dorm noticing them, not daring to wear garnts clearly beyond her ans.

Chen Qingtian didn’t mind, waved it off, stepped forward, and drew Wu Qian into the space between him and the tree, "No worries, I’ll take you to buy more sets tomorrow. I missed you, did you miss ?"

Chen Qingtian was her boyfriend, whom she’d t a month ago while working a part-ti job at a karaoke bar. She worked at KFC during the day and at the karaoke bar at night.

Though she didn’t talk much, her face was delicate. When Chen Qingtian went out with friends, he noticed Wu Qian at a glance and started pursuing her fervently.

An experienced romantic, under Chen Qingtian’s relentless pursuit, Wu Qian, the innocent "little rabbit," stood no chance. In less than a week, they established a romantic relationship, and within just a couple of days, they moved in together. Her delayed return to the dorm previously was due to being with Chen Qingtian.
