Eden entered, followed by a man in his mid-twenties, a Westerner. "An, this is the psychological expert Doug I told you about." Eden pointed at Ya Xi. "Doug, this is the patient I ntioned to you."

Doug nodded, walked to the table, and squatted down. He didn’t speak to Ya Xi right away but observed her for a while before standing up. "There are too many people here now; please step outside."

Shen Qinglan glanced at Eden, saw him nod, and was the first to leave. She didn’t go far but stood just outside the door, constantly paying attention to any movent inside.

About half an hour later, Doug ca out. The first thing Shen Qinglan did was glance inside and see that Ya Xi was already asleep on the bed. She asked, "How is Ya Xi?"

"She beca like this after a trauma, and in order to recover she must have pharmaceutical treatnt combined with psychological therapy. But first, I need to know what caused her stress before I can treat her properly."

Hearing this, everyone fell silent. Doug looked at them all. "Without identifying the cause, I can’t proceed with the psychological therapy."

"I’ll tell you," Eden said, glancing at Shen Qinglan, whose expression was grim. He took Doug and left.

Mu Liancheng and others had already returned to their country, and Cissily and Andre had also departed, leaving only Eden, Jin Enxi, and Fu Hengyi here.

That afternoon, Doug conducted a session of psychological therapy for Ya Xi. Combined with the dication he prescribed, Ya Xi cald down considerably, but she was limited to just that—calm. Often, she would sit alone in a corner, staring into space, still not allowing anyone near her.

Shen Qinglan stood in the hallway, watching from a distance as Ya Xi sat in the garden, lost in thoughts. Eden approached her. "An, don’t worry, Ya Xi’s condition will gradually improve."

"How long is ’gradually’? Five years? Ten years?" Shen Qinglan asked softly.

Eden was at a loss for words; he couldn’t answer. With Ya Xi’s condition, the chances of improvent were too slim. Even Doug had said that unless they erased her mories regarding the incident and all related persons, she might remain like this for life.

"Eden, I want to take Ya Xi back to our country," Shen Qinglan said after a while. Given Ya Xi’s condition, staying here was not suitable, and perhaps returning ho might actually help her condition.

"Okay, I’ll arrange the flight. I’ll ask Doug to co back with us."

"Thank you, Eden."

Eden just smiled. "An, there’s no need for thanks between us."

That afternoon, they flew back ho. Ya Xi leaned against Shen Qinglan, sleeping peacefully. Before departure, Ya Xi had been very resistant to getting into the car, screaming and causing a commotion, so they had no choice but to administer a sedative.

At the airport, Yan Shengyu was already waiting. As soon as he saw Shen Qinglan, he hurried over, checking that she was unhard and slightly relieved. "And Xiao Xi?"

Eden, carrying Ya Xi, followed behind. Yan Shengyu was startled. "What happened to Xiao Xi?"

"She’s asleep," Eden said, quickly speaking before Shen Qinglan could.

Yan Shengyu stepped forward and softly called Ya Xi’s na, but there was no response from her, making him suspicious. "Why is she sleeping so deeply?"

"She’s been a bit shocked these past few days, and her emotions are a bit unstable, so we gave her a sedative before the flight," Eden explained.

Yan Shengyu didn’t say anything else, taking Ya Xi from Eden’s arms. "I’ll take Xiao Xi ho now."

"Yan Shengyu," Shen Qinglan called after him. "It’s better if Ya Xi stays with us for now... She is..."

"Qinglan ant that she was worried that Ya Xi’s emotions were still unstable, so she wanted to take Ya Xi back and care for her for a couple of days," Eden hurriedly chid in.

Upon hearing this, Yan Shengyu let go of his suspicion, slightly smiling, "No need, I’ll take good care of her."

Just as he turned to leave, Shen Qinglan called out to him once more, "Yan Shengyu, I’m sorry, I didn’t take good care of Ya Xi. Ya Xi, she’s sick."

Yan Shengyu’s footsteps halted, and he stared fixedly at Shen Qinglan, "What do you an she’s sick?"

A flash of pain crossed Shen Qinglan’s eyes, "Her ntal state has so issues."

Yan Shengyu stared incredulously at Shen Qinglan, seemingly unable to grasp the aning of her words. He looked down at Ya Xi, who was quietly asleep in his arms, "What has she been through?" His tone was calm, but anyone could hear the raging anger beneath it.

At that mont, Ya Xi woke up. Opening her eyes and seeing Yan Shengyu, she suddenly began to struggle violently, "Bad person, don’t touch , go away, bad person." As she struggled, she began to beat Yan Shengyu frantically with her hands. Yan Shengyu didn’t manage to hold her securely, and Ya Xi fell from his arms to the ground. Not feeling the pain, she scrambled up and tried to run away, but Jin Enxi quickly caught her. Then Doug ca forward, held Ya Xi, and softly said sothing into her ear.

After a long while, Ya Xi cald down, and her expression turned blank. She let Doug lead her, staying by his side, yet not allowing anyone else to co near.

Yan Shengyu watched all this in shock, unable to grasp why things had turned out this way. Why had his lively and adorable sister beco like this...

"Shen Qinglan, please tell , why has my sister turned out this way?" Yan Shengyu glared fiercely at Shen Qinglan, his fists tightly clenched, making one wonder if he might throw a punch at her.

"I’m sorry," Shen Qinglan said.

"Shen Qinglan, is this what you an by bringing my sister back safely?"

Fu Hengyi stepped in front of Shen Qinglan, "Qinglan didn’t want this to happen either. Now that Ya Xi is already like this, the most important thing is to treat her, not to bla soone here."

Yan Shengyu took a deep breath, looked at Ya Xi, and saw her looking back at him fearfully. When she noticed his gaze, she lowered her head and shrank back behind the man. A pang of pain struck Yan Shengyu’s heart, and he softened his expression, trying to calm himself. He stepped closer to Ya Xi, "Ya Xi, it’s your brother."

Ya Xi didn’t look at him, clutching Doug’s sleeve and keeping her head down.

"Ya Xi." As Yan Shengyu stepped closer, Ya Xi shrank back. Jin Enxi stopped him, "She’s like this right now, you shouldn’t agitate her anymore."

Yan Shengyu paused, staring deeply at Ya Xi, his eyes brimming with stormy emotions.

"Shen Qinglan, I hope you can explain this to ."

"I will explain it to you," Shen Qinglan said, her gaze gentle as she looked at Ya Xi. Ya Xi, I will definitely cure you.

Yan Shengyu didn’t take Ya Xi ho but took her to the hospital instead; he needed to understand what exactly his sister had been through.

At the hospital, Ya Xi beca agitated again seeing so many people. Eventually, the doctors had to administer a sedative to calm her down. Yan Shengyu held the dical report in his hands, his eyes reddening.

He gripped the report tightly, glaring at Shen Qinglan as if ready to kill, but before he could say anything, a flurry of footsteps echoed through the hospital corridor.

Zhao Jiaqing rushed in, "Sheng Yu, where is Ya Xi?"

Yan Shengyu was at a loss for words, not knowing how to explain to Zhao Jiaqing, "Ya Xi is asleep, Mom, don’t disturb her."

"Let at least take a look." Saying this, she pushed past Yan Shengyu into the ward, and upon seeing her daughter lying unconscious on the bed, Zhao Jiaqing’s hanging heart finally dropped.

She tiptoed over to the hospital bed and sat down, gently holding her daughter’s hand, her gaze fixed on Ya Xi’s emaciated profile, her eyes brimming with heartache, "Xiao Xi."

Ya Xi did not wake up, having just been given a sedative, it wouldn’t wear off so soon.

Yan Shengyu stepped in, "Mom, let take care of Xiao Xi for now. You haven’t had a good rest for many days, go back and get so sleep. I’ll call you when Ya Xi wakes up."

Zhao Jiaqing shook her head, "No need, I’ll stay here with her." She had finally seen her daughter, how could she bear to leave.

Shen Junyu had received news that Shen Qinglan was back and hurried to the hospital with Wen Xiyao, "Lanlan."

Shen Junyu surveyed Shen Qinglan thoroughly, noticing the gauze wrapped around her arm, his expression imdiately changed, "Are you hurt? Is it serious?"

Shen Qinglan pushed him away, "Brother, I’m fine, it’s just a minor injury. Fu Hengyi just wanted to be thorough with the bandaging because he was worried."

Shen Junyu turned to Fu Hengyi for confirmation, "Really?"

Fu Hengyi nodded calmly, "Yes, it’s just a scrape, but dressing the wound well prevents infection."

Shen Junyu nodded in agreent, and seeing Shen Qinglan unhard, Wen Xiyao finally relaxed, "Qinglan, who is behind all this?"

They only knew that Shen Qinglan and Ya Xi had been taken away, but they didn’t know why or by whom.

"Let’s talk about this when we get back." Shen Qinglan did not want to say more at the mont. Although Shen Junyu was anxious, he did not press further as they were in a hospital corridor, which was not the place for such discussions.

"Shen Qinglan, you all should leave," Yan Shengyu erged from the hospital room and said coldly, "We’ll take care of Ya Xi ourselves."

Shen Qinglan hesitated slightly, "Let Doug stay, he’s an authority in psychology and understands Ya Xi’s condition best."

"We are going to find our own doctors, no need to trouble you. I don’t want to see you all right now, please leave," Yan Shengyu ordered them to leave.

His cold tone made Shen Junyu frown. Just as he was about to speak, Shen Qinglan held him back, "Alright, if you need anything, you can call ."

Leaving the hospital, Shen Junyu’s expression was a bit grim, "Lanlan, that was the Yan Family’s boy just now, wasn’t it? Why was he so harsh?"

"Brother, this is my fault. If it hadn’t been for , Ya Xi wouldn’t have..."

Wen Xiyao disagreed, "Qinglan, Ya Xi’s abduction doesn’t seem to be solely because of you. Yu Xiaoxuan was also captured with Ya Xi, but those people let her go and only took Ya Xi. Don’t you find that strange?"

Her words struck a chord, indeed. People had targeted Shen Qinglan, that much was clear, but why, after capturing Yu Xiaoxuan and Ya Xi, was only Ya Xi taken away?

Shen Qinglan obviously knew that soone was orchestrating this behind the scenes, but she was unclear on who it was. At the ti, seeing Ya Xi in that condition had wiped away all her rational thoughts, leaving her no room to question further.

"Sister Xiyao, it’s my fault Ya Xi was captured. I failed to protect her. I owe the Yan Family an apology. How is Xiaoxuan?"

"She’s alright; soone took her to the hospital but didn’t leave their na."

"Was she hurt?"

"No injuries, just an overdose of sleeping pills. They pumped her stomach, and she’s fine now. She’s very worried about you, kept asking if you had returned."

As they were talking, a dark shadow darted towards Shen Qinglan. Recognizing who it was, Shen Qinglan didn’t dodge. "Qinglan, you scared to death, wuu wuu wuu..."

The person was indeed Yu Xiaoxuan, who had just been ntioned.

"I’m fine, don’t worry." Shen Qinglan patted her shoulder, gently comforting her.

"Wuu wuu wuu, you don’t know how worried I was about you, I’m so glad to see you’re okay now."

"Alright, stop crying, I’m fine, aren’t I?" Shen Qinglan patted her shoulder.

Han Yi got out of the car and seeing that Shen Qinglan was safe, he also felt relieved. Looking at Yu Xiaoxuan, he teased, "Such a grown person still crying like this, isn’t it embarrassing?"

Yu Xiaoxuan lifted her head from Shen Qinglan’s embrace and wiped her tears away. "If you find it embarrassing, then go find soone else."

Han Yi imdiately surrendered. "Ouch, my lady, I was wrong. You’re not embarrassing; I am the embarrassing one, okay?"

"Hmph." Yu Xiaoxuan snorted and glanced around, not noticing Ya Xi. "Qinglan, where is Ya Xi? Is she alright?"

The smile on Shen Qinglan’s face faded. "She’s still in the hospital."

"Is she hurt? I’ll go see her."

"Don’t go up." Shen Qinglan stopped her. "Her family is with her right now; let’s visit another day."

Yu Xiaoxuan thought for a mont and nodded. "Alright, you should also go back and rest soon, you look thinner."

Shen Qinglan nodded and got into the car with Fu Hengyi. Shen Qinglan was riding in Shen Junyu’s car. Yu Xiaoxuan, seeing the car was full, could only pout and follow Han Yi into another car.

When they arrived back at the Shen Family ho, before the car even stopped, Chu Yunrong had already co up to et them. "Qinglan, Qinglan, how are you?" Chu Yunrong grabbed Shen Qinglan’s arm, looked her over from head to toe, and then hugged her tightly. "Qinglan, you scared mom to death, do you know that?"

Being hugged by Chu Yunrong, Shen Qinglan felt sowhat uncomfortable, but she did not push her away and gently patted her shoulder. "Mom, I’m fine."

"People kidnapped you and you say you’re fine? What has to happen for it not to be fine?" Chu Yunrong was on the verge of tears.

Three days earlier, she had accidentally heard a conversation between Shen Junyu and Wen Xiyao and discovered that Shen Qinglan had been kidnapped, nearly fainting on the spot.

After pressing Shen Junyu, she learned that the kidnapping wasn’t for money but for revenge. At that mont, Chu Yunrong’s face turned pale, and she nearly collapsed, reminiscent of the ti years ago when Shen Qinglan had been kidnapped and sold, never returning ho after being taken away.

"Mom, be gentle, be careful or Grandpa will find out." Shen Junyu cautioned from the side.

Chu Yunrong lowered her voice. "Qinglan, what happened to your hand?" Seeing the gauze wrapped around her hand, Chu Yunrong’s recently eased heart tightened again.

Shen Qinglan nonchalantly replied, "Just a minor scrape. Fu Hengyi was worried about infection, so he wrapped it up tightly."

Chu Yunrong was still worried and wanted to check it, but at that mont, Old Sir Shen ca out, saw Shen Qinglan, and said with a smile, "Lanlan, back from a trip with Hengyi?"

Shen Qinglan’s eyes flickered slightly as she nodded. "Just got back, how are you feeling, Grandpa?"

Old Sir Shen smiled warmly and nodded. "Was the trip tiring? You look thinner."

"Actually, I haven’t lost weight; it’s just that you haven’t seen for a long ti, Grandpa, so you feel like I have," Shen Qinglan said as she walked up to Old Sir Shen, smiling gently.

Seeing that Old Sir Shen noticed the bandages on her hand, she repeated the explanation she had given to Chu Yunrong earlier.

"You, always so careless," Old Sir Shen scolded, "Tonight, I’ll have Sister-in-law Song cook sothing delicious for you and Hengyi to properly nourish you both."

Shen Qinglan smiled gently and nodded, helping Old Sir Shen into the house.

Shen Junyu and Fu Hengyi exchanged glances, and Wen Xiyao tactfully assisted Chu Yunrong’s arm, "Auntie, let’s go to the kitchen first to prepare so delicious dishes for Qinglan. She has suffered a lot recently and needs a good nourishnt."

Chu Yunrong hurriedly nodded and followed Wen Xiyao inside.

Only Shen Junyu and Fu Hengyi were left in the garden.

"What exactly happened with this kidnapping?" Shen Junyu asked seriously.

"It was BK’s people. I had so past grievances with them, and this ti they were targeting ," Fu Hengyi said, not shirking responsibility.

Shen Junyu’s expression was unreadable as he stared into the distance.

"I was negligent this ti, but there will absolutely not be a next ti."

Shen Junyu fixed his gaze on him, speaking, "You said this, I hope you can live up to it."

Fu Hengyi nodded solemnly; he would not allow such a situation to occur again.

"Who are BK?" Shen Junyu asked him.

"BK is a very famous rcenary group internationally, with very strong mbers, especially their leader, King. I’ve clashed with him many tis. Last year, in one operation, many of their people died, and this was their retaliation."

"How powerful are they? What if I pay soone else to deal with them?" Shen Junyu inquired.

"Many rcenaries don’t want to ss with BK’s people because they are ruthless and unprincipled in their actions. Leave this matter to , I have a plan," Fu Hengyi imdiately dismissed his idea.

Shen Junyu didn’t say he agreed, but he didn’t object either. After inquiring so more about BK, they went inside when Chu Yunrong called them for dinner.

After dinner, Shen Qinglan accompanied Old Sir Shen for a walk. Then, after he had gone to bed, she left the house.

It was only after Shen Qinglan had left that the supposedly sleeping Old Sir Shen opened his eyes. He sighed softly, fully aware of Shen Qinglan’s troubles by observing Chu Yunrong’s expressions, but the family hoped he was unaware, so he pretended accordingly. His heart had been heavy these past few days, and only upon seeing Shen Qinglan safely back did he truly feel relieved.

Old Sir Fu was genuinely unaware of the situation. Just two days before Shen Qinglan’s kidnapping, Fu Jingtong had arranged for him to go to a health resort away from Beijing.

Since Fu Hengyi was back, he naturally had to return to the Military Region to report to his superiors. Therefore, after lunch, he left.

"Call if there’s anything; you absolutely cannot bear it alone again, and you can’t keep quiet like this ti, understand?" Before leaving, Fu Hengyi pulled Shen Qinglan aside and whispered, "Leave the matter with King to . You must not interfere, nor put yourself in danger, for I don’t know what I’d do then."

Shen Qinglan tiptoed and kissed Fu Hengyi on the lips, "Fu Hengyi, don’t worry, I won’t do anything to make you worry anymore."

"These past few days, let that friend of yours nad Jin Enxi stay with you. Soone needs to help you change your dressings."

Fu Hengyi said sothing, and Shen Qinglan just nodded.

"Fu Hengyi, you won’t have any trouble when you go back, will you?" Shen Qinglan, thinking about how Fu Hengyi had left the military to co and rescue her, asked worriedly.

Fu Hengyi smiled, "Do you really think they don’t know I’m out? Don’t worry, they’ve tacitly approved it, so all I have to do when I get back is write a report. Don’t worry."

Shen Qinglan smiled but said nothing more. However, she didn’t feel completely reassured in her heart. She watched Fu Hengyi leave and then turned to go inside.

"Shen Qinglan, stop right there," a woman’s sharp voice commanded.

Shen Qinglan paused montarily and turned around to see a car stopping in front of her. A woman got out of the car, and when Shen Qinglan saw her face clearly, she imdiately understood.

"Shen Qinglan, give back my healthy daughter," Zhao Jiaqing lunged at her, pounding on Shen Qinglan.

Shen Qinglan didn’t dodge, nor did she even struggle.

Fu Hengyi had already driven out of the compound, but at the gate, he happened to see Zhao Jiaqing checking in. He saw her go inside and didn’t pay attention, driving away. However, he hadn’t driven for more than two minutes when he suddenly rembered that this woman was Ya Xi’s mother. Startled, he quickly turned the car around and ca back.

He caught sight of Shen Qinglan standing still, allowing herself to be hit. A flash of anger crossed his eyes. Fu Hengyi swiftly got out of the car, pulled Zhao Jiaqing away, and shielded Shen Qinglan behind himself. "What are you doing?"

Zhao Jiaqing glared fiercely at Shen Qinglan, "Shen Qinglan, you destroyer of lives, give back my healthy daughter."

Her eyes were swollen, clearly from crying for a long ti.

Fu Hengyi frowned, "Madam, please watch your words."

"Watch my words? Shen Qinglan, you tell , do you deserve any respect?"

"Mom." Yan Shengyu arrived and saw his mother arguing with Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi. "Mom, I’ve told you, it’s not all Shen Qinglan’s fault. If it weren’t for her, my sister wouldn’t be back," despite also blaming Shen Qinglan, Yan Shengyu couldn’t help but defend her.

"Smack." A heavy slap landed on Yan Shengyu’s face.

"Yan Shengyu, your sister has been hurt like this, and you still defend her? Have you lost your mind?" Zhao Jiaqing was furious.

"Hey, I’m talking to you madam, maybe you’re the one who has lost your mind. Your daughter was kidnapped, it was our Qinglan who rescued her. Now, not only are you ungrateful, but you’re also blaming her, do you have no sha?" Wen Xiyao heard so argunts outside and hadn’t seen Shen Qinglan co in, so she stepped out to see the commotion, instantly becoming furious.

"If it weren’t for her, how would my daughter have been kidnapped, how would she..." Zhao Jiaqing couldn’t continue, thinking of Ya Xi’s current condition, her tears started falling again.

Wen Xiyao saw her crying and softened her tone, "Even if Ya Xi was hurt, at least she’s still alive."

Who would have known that this remark would touch a nerve in Zhao Jiaqing? She lifted her head, her eyes blazing, "In Ya Xi’s current condition, she might as well be dead."

"How can you, as a mother, curse your own daughter to die?" Wen Xiyao said in disbelief, yet she had a sinking feeling that Ya Xi’s situation might be quite serious.

"I’m very sorry about what happened to Ya Xi, I’m sorry," Shen Qinglan said apologetically.

"Sorry? What use is sorry? Shen Qinglan, why isn’t it you lying in there? Why aren’t you the one experiencing all this?" Zhao Jiaqing pointed at Shen Qinglan, saying angrily.

Fu Hengyi pulled Shen Qinglan aside and, frowning at Zhao Jiaqing, said, "What happened to Ya Xi wasn’t sothing any of us wanted to see, and blaming Qinglan now is of no help. The most important thing now is to find a way to cure her and allow her to lead a normal life."

"How do you cure her?" Zhao Jiaqing cried. "Tell how to cure her. My daughter is only nineteen years old; she hasn’t even celebrated her nineteenth birthday yet. What is she going to do with the rest of her life now that she’s like this?"

"I will cure her, no matter what it takes, I will cure her," Shen Qinglan declared firmly, but Zhao Jiaqing ignored her, her expression filled with sorrow and despair. Just an hour ago, Ya Xi woke up, and upon seeing strangers in the room, she started screaming, not allowing Zhao Jiaqing and Yan Shengyu to co close.

Yan Shengyu stepped forward, forcefully holding her in his arms, but Ya Xi bit down on Yan Shengyu’s shoulder. If the doctor hadn’t arrived in ti to restrain Ya Xi, she might have bitten off a chunk of his flesh.

The diagnosis from the doctor after examining her was that Ya Xi had suffered a trendous shock that resulted in ntal instability and an aversion to anyone approaching her, exhibiting aggressive behavior, and it was recomnded that Zhao Jiaqing have Ya Xi committed to a psychiatric hospital.

At that mont, Zhao Jiaqing felt as though her world was collapsing, so when Ya Xi had cald down, she ca looking for Shen Qinglan.

"Shen Qinglan, Ya Xi treated you like her own sister, she was so close to you. What did you promise ? You said you would take good care of Ya Xi. Is this how you took care of her? Do you know she has gone mad? She is only nineteen!" Zhao Jiaqing sobbed and scread.

Wen Xiyao watched Zhao Jiaqing in shock, unable to believe what she had just said; Ya Xi had gone mad.

This commotion attracted Chu Yunrong, who ca out, saw Zhao Jiaqing, and though she did not recognize her, frowned at her endless crying, showing clear disapproval, "Who are you, and why are you causing a scene at my daughter’s expense?"

"Mom, let’s go. Ya Xi is alone in the hospital right now; she needs soone to take care of her," Yan Shengyu, slapped by Zhao Jiaqing, did not care about the pain and spoke urgently to her.

Zhao Jiaqing, overwheld with crying, was led by Yan Shengyu to the car and they left.

"Qinglan, are you alright?" Chu Yunrong asked.

Shen Qinglan shook her head, "You go ahead, I’m fine," she said to Fu Hengyi.

Fu Hengyi nodded, "Don’t think too much about Ya Xi’s situation."

"I know, go ahead."

**

The next day, Shen Qinglan went to the hospital again. In the room was only Yan Shengyu, "Where’s Ya Xi?"

Yan Shengyu, who looked like he hadn’t slept all night with stubble on his chin, said, "She was taken for a test by a man nad Doug."

"You should get so rest," Shen Qinglan said, noticing his exhaustion. Normally, Yan Shengyu would have been happy to hear Shen Qinglan show concern for him, but now he couldn’t feel any joy and looked at her with complex eyes.

"Don’t take to heart what my mom said yesterday, she was just panicked and spoke without thinking."

"I know," said Shen Qinglan indifferently, "Your mother wasn’t wrong, it’s right for her to resent . A girl’s whole life is ruined, even if Zhao Jiaqing killed with a knife, I would have nothing to say."

Half an hour later, Doug returned with Ya Xi, who followed him with a wooden expression and vacant eyes, looking just like a pretty Barbie doll.

"Good girl, it’s your bedti now. Lie down on the bed and sleep well, okay?" Doug said gently.

Ya Xi obediently did as told, and it was only after she had fallen asleep that Doug motioned for Shen Qinglan and Yan Shengyu to leave.

"Andre, Ya Xi has severe post-traumatic syndro; right now, I’m not sure I can fully cure her. I can only administer dication to support psychological treatnt to help calm her emotions so she won’t easily attack anyone," said Doug.

"Is there really no way at all?" Yan Shengyu asked.

Doug glanced at him.

"This is Ya Xi’s brother," Shen Qinglan said.

"There is one thod," Doug said, "but it’s extrely risky."

"What thod?" Yan Shengyu asked eagerly upon hearing this.

"It involves putting her through deep hypnosis to make her forget the incident. Her psychological trauma stems from being... violated, and if she forgets about it, she won’t dwell in that pain."

Upon hearing this, Shen Qinglan understood imdiately. It was the sa principle as when the psychologist had used hypnotic suggestion on Chu Yunrong years ago. "What are the possible consequences?"

"I’ve attempted this thod on other patients before, but out of five, only one fully recovered. The rest all had so lingering effects. The worst-case scenario is the patient turning into a complete idiot, needing care for even basic needs."

Yan Shengyu took a step back, Shen Qinglan’s face darkened, "By fully recovered, you an back to how she was before?"

Doug nodded, then shook his head, "You could say that, but it’s not entirely accurate. This thod could erase the painful, unbearable mories in her heart, and she might be happier than before. But the catch is, you will be forgotten too."

Doug looked at Shen Qinglan, "In her heart, those people captured her to get to you, and you hold a significant place in her heart. The ’big sister’ she kept calling out to in her first two therapy sessions, that was you, right?"

Shen Qinglan’s gaze deepened, and she nodded slightly.

"She relies heavily on you, which is why she kept calling out for you when she was in danger."

"If she forgets , will she rember when she sees again?"

"Logically, no, she won’t. You would be strangers if you t again, and she might never recall this incident in her lifeti, unless, that is, she’s severely triggered. If that happens and her condition relapses, I’d be helpless."

Yan Shengyu stared at Doug, "How confident are you in this thod?"

"Forty percent, but if I had Eden’s cooperation, at least eighty percent," Doug said, noting that Eden was also an expert in hypnosis.

"Would she forget her family?" Yan Shengyu asked, unable to imagine what would be left in her life if Ya Xi forgot her family too.

"If the word ’family’ is associated with warmth in her mories, she’ll rember so of it," Doug replied.

So of it ant she’d still forget so.

Yan Shengyu glanced into the hospital room where Ya Xi was sleeping peacefully, "Thank you, doctor. Please, let think about this."

Shen Qinglan had left before Zhao Jiaqing arrived, walking with Doug, "Doug, is there really no other way?"

Doug shook his head, "I’m sorry, An."

Shen Qinglan remained silent, knowing this might be the best option available.
