The kitchen wasn’t particularly large or small, but with two people sharing the space, Ah Chuan couldn’t help but overthink.
As the laughter inside grew louder, Ah Chuan finally beca restless.
“Where are you going?” Just as he got up, Luo Xuan blocked his path.
Ah Chuan was about to push past him when he suddenly rembered what Luo Qi had said.
Why wouldn’t he seize such a good opportunity?
“Let join you for so practice,” Ah Chuan said, taking off his jacket.
Luo Xuan had learned Taekwondo and would often hassle Ah Chuan to practice with him when he was free.
Ah Chuan had a lot on his plate, so he’d agree one out of five tis Luo Xuan asked.
This ti, on the rare occasion that Ah Chuan offered, Luo Xuan put on airs, “No need, Lin Yan brother will practice with .”
“He knows how?”
“Of course, he does, he’s a black belt, really skilled.
Not a single problem protecting my sister,” Luo Xuan said, pride radiating from his face.
There was a ti when his face would light up the sa way talking about him, and now had it finally changed to soone else?
Ah Chuan couldn’t help feeling bitter inside.
Before he could recover from this feeling, Lin Yan ca out from the kitchen holding a dish.
“Don’t just stand there, wash your hands, we’ll be eating soon,” he said, his tone sounding very much like the man of the house.
“Ever since Lin Yan brother arrived, my sister’s cooking pace has really picked up,” Luo Xuan teased Lin Yan with a wink.
Lin Yan raised his hand, threatening to hit him, “Keep spouting nonsense and it won’t just be , your sister won’t spare you either.”
Luo Xuan stuck out his tongue, “I’m not spouting nonsense, I’m telling the truth.”
He said this as he scampered off to the washroom.
Lin Yan shook his head helplessly and his gaze swept over to Ah Chuan, his smile freezing slightly as he gave a gentle nod of acknowledgnt.
“Thanks for your help today.” Luo Qi had told him earlier in the kitchen how much they’d needed his help today, otherwise she’d have been in trouble.
“On what grounds are you thanking ?” He wasn’t Luo Qi’s boyfriend, what right did he have to say that?
Lin Yan smiled good-naturedly, not minding Ah Chuan’s sowhat hostile question, “I care about her a lot.”
Luo Qi happened to co out at that mont and was surprised to see the two talking, “What are you guys talking about?”
That the two of them could have a conversation was really beyond her expectations.
“Nothing much,” Lin Yan and Ah Chuan answered in unison.
After speaking they glanced at each other.
“Really, it was nothing,” they both repeated, again at the sa ti.
“Pfft,” Luo Qi laughed, “You two are quite in sync, aren’t you?”
“Who’s in sync with him?” they answered together again.
Luo Qi bent over laughing, “Fine, fine, you have no sync, okay?
Continue your chat, I’ll get back to cooking.”
“I’ll help you,” Lin Yan quickly offered.
“ too,” Ah Chuan followed suit just as quickly.
The kitchen, which had been just big enough for three, suddenly beca crowded, and Luo Qi shooed them away, “Don’t all crowd in here, go to the living room and wait, I’ll be done shortly.”
“You are a guest, you shouldn’t have to lift a finger; it’s better if you stay in the kitchen,” Lin Yan said to Ah Chuan.
“Speaking of guests, you are one too, and you ca later than I did.
Even if soone is to help, it shouldn’t be you,” Ah Chuan insisted.
“You go out first,” Luo Qi said to Ah Chuan as she placed a bowl of vegetables in his hands, her expression impassive.
“Xiao Xuan will be upset again if she sees you,” Luo Qi reminded him before he could speak.
Ah Chuan reluctantly took the vegetables from Luo Qi’s hands.
After setting the vegetables on the table, Ah Chuan turned back, but this ti he didn’t go all the way in, instead leaning by the doorway.
