“I just wanted a peaceful night’s sleep. Besides, it was already late at night when you tried to reach yesterday. As a woman, I don’t think it’s appropriate to go out at that hour.” Her indifferent tone firmly created a barrier between them.
Fu Rong was about to explode in anger, but when he glanced at her pale face, he swallowed his fury forcefully. “I was only worried you’d catch a cold from the rain.”
“That’s all?” Her gaze was clear and unwavering as she stared at him, her eyes as tranquil as lake water, reflecting his silhouette.
“Did you receive the email I sent you yesterday?”
“Mm, got it. I’ll revise it today.”
“My system shows it bounced back. Are you sure you received it?”
Was he trying to indirectly inspect her computer? Ye Ranran smirked. “I’m sure. I copied it onto a USB stick. If you don’t believe , co to the office, and I’ll show you.”
“Then why does my system indicate the delivery failed?”
“You should ask your computer that.”
“Everyone else’s emails went through just fine. Maybe there’s sothing wrong with your computer, not mine? Let take a look for you.” Fu Rong effortlessly made the suggestion.
“That won’t be necessary. I’ll have my brother check it for . I’m going to eat breakfast now; I’ll be late for work soon.” Ye Ranran walked toward the dining area.
Fu Rong headed upstairs. “I’ll take a look while there’s still ti.”
“What are you doing?” Ye Ranran reprimanded sharply. “Who gave you permission to go up there?”
“What? Is there sothing in your room you don’t want to see? Sothing I shouldn’t know about?” Fu Rong gazed at her indifferently, his cold eyes frosty. “Don’t tell you’ve been hiding a man?”
“What do you an by ‘hiding’? I’m a single woman of a certain age—what’s wrong with bringing a man ho? You’re not my parents; you’re overstepping.” Ye Ranran said slowly.
Fu Rong’s face changed slightly, his eyes sharp with danger. “You really brought a man ho?”
“What does it have to do with you?”
Fu Rong pushed past her and went upstairs. “I’ll find out soon enough whether it has anything to do with .”
Fu Rong reached the door to Ye Ranran’s room, his hand hovering over the doorknob for a mont before he pushed it open.
Blue curtains, light blue sheets, a fluffy cream-colored carpet laid on the ground.
In the corner stood a potted plant; on the side of the wardrobe, two vases of flowers. On the third shelf, a picture fra, and lastly, a stuffed doll.
The entire room had a bit of a pastoral vibe, fresh and clean.
The breeze stirred the curtains, and a faint floral fragrance wafted through the air.
The room was empty. Where was the man?
“Satisfied with what you see?” Ye Ranran stood behind him with her arms crossed.
Perhaps because she’d spent too much ti in wet clothes the day before, she felt slightly dizzy, her limbs barely responding.
Fu Rong didn’t respond. He walked toward Ye Ranran’s computer.
“What are you planning to do? You’re not thinking about installing so kind of spyware to monitor , are you?”
Her words made Fu Rong snap his head around. His gaze was probing, half-investigative and half-intense, as though he’d spotted sothing.
She t his eyes without a hint of fear. There were so many things she wanted to ask him—she had no reason to avoid him.
