Shen Yuzhe quickly tossed the towel aside and offered a sheepish smile. "Sorry, I panicked for a mont and forgot. So, what should we do now?"
"Do you have any unused towels or clothes? I’ll change and leave in a bit."
"Yes, wait a mont."
Shen Yuzhe rummaged through boxes and drawers, eventually finding a towel and a set of clothes for her. The clothes were gray and oversized, looking more like pajamas on Ye Ranran.
She dried her hair and walked out of the bathroom.
Hearing her footsteps, Shen Yuzhe erged from the lab.
"Don’t say anything yet—I’ll ask first," Ye Ranran interjected before Shen Yuzhe could speak.
She sat across from him. The clothes weren’t originally low-cut, but her petite fra made them appear that way.
A faint glimpse of her chest was exposed, prompting Shen Yuzhe to quickly avert his gaze.
She was the lady of the house—he couldn’t let himself think otherwise.
Noticing his discomfort, Ye Ranran looked down, her eyes flashing with frustration. She then draped the towel over her neck to cover the unintentional exposure.
"You said I’m not Wen Cai, so why do I have Wen Cai’s mories?"
This was sothing she had always wondered about. How could one person have mories belonging to soone else? It was her last lingering doubt.
If she couldn’t figure this out, she would always feel unsettled.
"Because Fu Rong implanted Wen Cai’s mories into a chip, then embedded the chip into your brain and hypnotized you. Naturally, you lost your original mories and gained Wen Cai’s instead."
Ye Ranran listened in shock. "Is this for real?"
It sounded like a sequence from a cri drama—layer upon layer, flawlessly executed.
Knowing she wouldn’t easily believe him, Shen Yuzhe took out a brain CT scan and included the color images as evidence. "See for yourself."
Ye Ranran looked at the small dot in the images, her astonishnt plainly visible.
"Can you help remove it?"
"I can’t."
As Ye Ranran’s gaze turned piercing, Shen Yuzhe responded with an awkward smile. "It’s not that I don’t want to help—it’s just that you’ve already undergone one surgery. The chip is placed near a blood vessel, and if there’s even a minor mistake leading to a brain hemorrhage, you could lose your life."
Ye Ranran’s expression grew despondent, but Shen Yuzhe acted as though he hadn’t noticed and continued explaining. "Fu Rong never intended to remove it, which is why he placed it in such a dangerous location."
Yes, he never planned on removing it. He just wanted her to live the rest of her life as Wen Cai.
"If my mories have changed, has my heart also changed?" Ye Ranran asked painfully. "Then what are these feelings I have for him?"
"Please calm down, madam," Shen Yuzhe quickly tried to soothe her. "Feelings are always epheral and elusive. You inherited Wen Cai’s mories, so naturally your consciousness tells you that you love Fu Rong. That’s why you feel this way."
Shen Yuzhe offered a brief explanation, avoiding the subject of Song Ze—both because it was a long story and because he wasn’t well-inford about the matter between Ye Ranran and him.
He was a doctor, not a gossip columnist digging into people’s private lives.
"So I have no choice but to live like this?" Ye Ranran murmured. She couldn’t help but feel guilty toward Jun Mochan.
How was this any different from emotional betrayal?
Before realizing it, she hadn’t thought much about it. But now, after sensing his deep affection for her, her guilt and unease had grown stronger.
She had forgotten him. She no longer rembered him. How could she let this happen?
"Once you regain your original mories, these feelings will naturally fade over ti. You can treat Fu Rong as your first love, sothing that’s in the past. Although letting go might not be easy now, soday you’ll be able to move on," Shen Yuzhe reassured her.
