"What exactly are you trying to say?" Fu Rong’s impatience was palpable.

"I’m just suggesting you should change your male secretary. At least he won’t co with all these ssy romantic entanglents. She knows too much, and what if she lets sothing slip accidentally?" Sun Yi pressed on, finally saying everything she’d been holding back.

"I thought I’d already made clear your position." What to manage and what not to manage—she should be fully aware of these boundaries.

Fu Rong liked won who understood their limits, like Ye Ranran. She had a strong grasp of personal boundaries, her only flaw being her rigid stubbornness.

But he still liked her.

Once this matter was resolved, he’d throw Sun Yi aside. He wasn’t young anymore; it was truly ti to settle down.

"I’m just giving you a suggestion, why are you getting angry? Besides, I think what I’m saying makes perfect sense." Sun Yi said, aggrieved.

"You think it makes sense? I’m in a crucial period where I need reliable people, and you want to push my confidant away. How do you expect others to perceive ?"

Does this count as making sense? It’s nothing but nonsense.

"Moreover, I hope you haven’t forgotten why I chose you in the first place." Fu Rong’s tone carried a warning.

Sun Yi looked at him in disbelief, "So you’re saying all the things you felt for over these past days were fake?"

"No, it’s all true. But I expect you to know your place. What we agreed upon earlier still holds, but if you can’t fulfill that, then I truly can’t help you." Fu Rong picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth.

Sun Yi’s hand gripping the knife and fork turned pale, and her smile vanished completely. He could never know how cruel his words had just been.

Cruel enough to crush all her pride underfoot.

"Then let ask you one thing: do you sincerely intend to marry ?"

"I can only tell you that I won’t mistreat you."

After saying that, he no longer looked at her and walked over to Ye Ranran’s table.

"Big bro." He greeted casually.

Being caught didn’t fluster Big Fu; he calmly responded to Fu Rong’s greeting, "Third brother, what a coincidence."

He glanced behind Fu Rong and, upon seeing Sun Yi, a playful smile imdiately appeared. "I see you’re eting a beauty. Congratulations."

"She and I have so matters to discuss. We’ll be leaving now." Fu Rong grabbed Ye Ranran’s hand and walked out.

"What are you doing?" Ye Ranran struggled, but Fu Rong only tightened his grip, half dragging and half pulling her out of the restaurant.

He shoved her into the car and then drove off at high speed.

Inside the car, Ye Ranran quieted down, staring out the window as neon lights streaked past.

Wind poured in through the window, its chill scattering Ye Ranran’s thoughts into confusion.

She suddenly missed that gentle voice—it was always soft and warm whenever he spoke to her.

If it were him, what would he have done tonight?

Her heart felt as though a feather had landed on it, tickling her, making her want to call him right away.

Fu Rong had already pulled the car over, watching Ye Ranran as she drifted off in thought. He grabbed her shoulders and forced her to face him. "What are you thinking about?"

"Naturally, I’m wondering whether Miss Sun would jump ship if abandoned. Would she go running to soone else?"

Her smile carried a trace of schadenfreude, a certain amusent, but lacked any sign of worry or affection.

"Even if that’s the case, there’s no need for concern."

"So, you’re telling you already have a backup plan?" Ye Ranran asked with curiosity.

"Hmm. With so many years in office, don’t you think I’ve gathered a few skeletons here and there?" He gestured as if gripping Sun Yi’s father’s weak points, enough leverage if they refused to cooperate.
