Chapter 1465: Chapter 1388: The Taboo of Being Soft-hearted
The hunger pangs made her stomach uncomfortable. Ye Ranran slightly covered her stomach and asked, “After I finish eating, you’ll let go?”
After working through the night, fatigue inevitably showed on her face. Noticing the dark circles under her eyes, he nodded, “Yes.”
“Alright then.”
Fu Rong brought her to a clay pot porridge restaurant and placed the nu in front of her. “Order whatever you’d like to eat.”
Ye Ranran was about to push the nu back, but her fingers hovered over it before giving up. Forget it—ordering sooner ans getting the food earlier, eating, and then leaving.
Why waste ti lingering here?
She ordered a seafood clay pot porridge.
After setting the nu down, she picked up the hot water on the table and peeled off the outer layer of the sterilized bowl’s packaging film. Then, she rinsed the cup, bowl, and chopsticks with boiling water.
Once she was done with her own utensils, Fu Rong pushed his tableware toward her.
Ye Ranran pushed the tableware back and placed the hot water in front of him. The rebellious gleam in her jet-black eyes sparkled.
Faintly, Fu Rong seed to see the sharp-edged girl from back then.
“Why are you still the sa as when you were young?” His cold black eyes softened slightly, like sunlight on snow.
Ye Ranran didn’t respond. She was starving and had no intention of engaging him.
Besides, she had already said that she wanted to draw a clear boundary with him.
A woman’s worst enemy is her own softness. Many people fall for bad n simply because they give them chances to take advantage and ruin themselves.
Over the years, she had trained herself to be emotionally tough. While not entirely hardened, she certainly wasn’t easy to break down.
No amount of sweet talk outweighs the importance of a marriage certificate. If he can’t promise her a marriage but still takes advantage of her, then he’s just playing gas!
Fu Rong acted as if he didn’t notice her indifference and enthusiastically began to speak.
“You used to be so headstrong. If soone said sothing harsh to you, you would demand an apology no matter what. If they didn’t apologize, you’d stubbornly hold it against them.”
After all, she was the proud young woman of her family, pampered by her parents and elder brother.
In the days of youthful ignorance, she had been arrogant.
That kind of personality often led to trouble. When she first started working, she suffered a lot, endured many setbacks, and slowly began to smooth out her edges.
Now, even he couldn’t do much to sway her.
Seeing her looking listless, he ordered so cold dishes. “Eat first.”
She didn’t hold back, picking up her chopsticks and starting to eat.
The porridge arrived quickly, and she ate twice as much as usual. After finishing, she grabbed her bag and said, “I’ll leave now. Take your ti eating.”
“Wen Cai.” He stood up as well, calling her full na.
“Do you still need sothing? If it’s not urgent, can it wait until I’ve had so rest?” She glanced at her watch.
It was already 11:30 p.m. Getting ho would take at least forty minutes. Then, she’d have to remove her makeup, take a shower, and only after all that could she finally lie in bed—probably around 1 a.m.
She had a peculiar habit: she had to thoroughly clean herself from head to toe before lying down. Otherwise, she’d feel uneasy and wouldn’t sleep well.
“I’ll take you ho.” Facing her clear and dazzling gaze, his temper dissipated entirely.
She shook her head, instinctively refusing. “No need. I’ll just hail a cab—it’s very convenient.”
Was this really about convenience?
“Let’s go.” He took the lead and walked out.
Looking at the half-finished porridge, she realized he hadn’t eaten much earlier, having spent most of the ti watching her eat. She wanted to call him back but then thought better of it, feeling it would be overly sentintal.
Forget it. After all, it’s him who’ll be hungry, not her.
