Margaret stord into the living room, her face a mask of fury. She had heard enough whispers and seen enough signs to know that sothing was terribly wrong. Her husband, Jas, was seated at his desk, a glass of whiskey in his hand, staring blankly at the stack of reports and docunts that littered the surface.

"Jas!" she snapped, her voice cutting through the silence. "What the hell is going on?"

Jas looked up, his expression weary and defeated. "Margaret, please, not now."

"Not now?" Margaret echoed, her voice rising. "You’ve been saying ’not now’ for days. Our company is collapsing around us, and you’re sitting here, drinking yourself into a stupor. I deserve to know what’s happening!"

Jas rubbed his temples, the weight of his troubles evident in his slumped shoulders. "It’s complicated. There are forces working against us, Margaret. I’m doing everything I can to fix it."

Margaret’s eyes flashed with anger. "Forces working against us? What does that even an? You promised , Jas. You promised that all our hard work would pay off, that we would reap the benefits of everything we’ve sacrificed. Now, it’s all falling apart, and you’re telling it’s complicated?"

Jas stood up, his own frustration bubbling to the surface. "I’m telling you that I’m handling it. Do you think I want this to happen? I’m fighting to keep everything together."

"Fighting?" Margaret scoffed, crossing her arms. "From where I’m standing, it looks like you’re losing. Our stocks are plumting, suppliers are pulling out, and clients are leaving us. How did we get here, Jas? How did you let this happen?"

Jas slamd his glass down on the desk, the liquid sloshing over the sides. "I didn’t let this happen! There’s sabotage, Margaret. Soone is orchestrating this to bring us down."

Margaret’s eyes narrowed. "And who is this soone? Do you have any proof, or is this just another excuse to cover up your incompetence?"

Jas flinched at her words, but his anger didn’t abate. "It’s Abby. She’s been working against , undermining everything I’ve built. I’ve been trying to stop her, but she’s smarter than I gave her credit for."

"Abby?" Margaret’s voice was incredulous. "How can she do that?"

Jas ran a hand through his hair, his frustration palpable. "I don’t know. Revenge, maybe. She’s found allies, people with money and power, to help her."

Margaret shook her head, trying to process what he was saying. "Even if that’s true, why didn’t you see this coming? Why didn’t you have safeguards in place?"

"I did," Jas insisted, his voice hoarse. "But she was too clever. She found ways around them, exploited weaknesses I didn’t even know existed."

Margaret’s anger turned to desperation. "So what now, Jas? What’s your plan? Are we just supposed to watch everything we’ve worked for crumble before our eyes?"

Jas sank back into his chair, the fight seemingly drained out of him. "I don’t know, Margaret. I’m trying to find a way out, but every move I make seems to backfire. I’ve hired investigators, tried to buy back the shares, but nothing is working."

Margaret’s eyes filled with tears, her voice breaking. "We didn’t work so hard all these years for you to destroy everything with your hands before we even reap the benefits. We sacrificed so much, and now it’s all slipping away."

Jas looked up at her, his eyes hollow and defeated. "I know. And I’m sorry. I never wanted this to happen."

Margaret stepped closer, her eyes locked onto his. "We have worked too hard and sacrificed too much for you to destroy everything. If you don’t fix this, I swear I will leave. I’ll take Lily and we’ll go."

Jas’s expression turned dangerous, a dark glint in his eyes. "Leave? You think you can just walk away from this? From ?"

Margaret crossed her arms, standing her ground. "Watch ."

Jas took a threatening step towards her. "Don’t you dare, Margaret. We’re in this together. You’ve been part of this every step of the way. All the bad things we did, we did together. You’re just as guilty as I am."

Margaret felt a shiver run down her spine, but she refused to back down. "I know what we did, Jas. But I can’t stand by and watch you destroy everything."

Jas’s eyes blazed with fury. "You’re not going anywhere. You think you can just take our daughter and leave to face this alone? You’re delusional."

Margaret’s voice trembled with a mix of fear and determination. "You’re threatening , Jas? After everything we’ve been through?"

Jas clenched his fists, his knuckles white. "I’m not threatening you, Margaret. I’m reminding you of the reality. If I go down, you go down with . There’s no escaping this."

Margaret took a step back, her heart pounding in her chest. "I don’t want to fight with you, Jas. But you have to see reason. Fix this ss, or I will do whatever it takes to protect our daughter."

Jas’s anger seed to simr just below the surface, his eyes filled with a mixture of rage and desperation. "You think you can save her from this? From ? You’re a fool if you believe that."

Margaret’s eyes filled with tears, but she refused to let them fall. "I’m not a fool, Jas. I’m a mother. And I will do whatever it takes to protect my child."

Jas’s expression hardened. "Fine. But know this, Margaret. If you try to leave, there will be consequences. I will not go down alone."

Margaret felt a wave of fear, but she also felt a surge of determination. "I’m not afraid of you, Jas. I will do what’s right for Lily, even if it ans standing against you."

She turned and walked out of the study, leaving Jas fuming behind her. As she made her way to her room, her mind raced with the implications of their confrontation. She knew that things were far from over, but she also knew that she couldn’t stay silent any longer. For Lily’s sake, she had to take action.
