Remo POV ~

The darkness of the night draped around Remo like a heavy cloak as he lay in bed, his mind swirling with fragnted mories and unresolved emotions. As sleep enveloped him, the tendrils of the past clawed their way into his subconscious, dragging him into a realm where ti held no sway and the echoes of love reverberated endlessly.

In the depths of his slumber, Remo found himself standing in a familiar place – a sunlit adow where he had once walked hand in hand with his first love, Izabella. The air was thick with the scent of wildflowers, and the distant hum of bees seed to serenade their laughter.

But as Remo reached out to touch the mory, it shattered like fragile glass, leaving behind a hollow ache in his chest. For he knew that Bella was gone, her laughter silenced forever by the cruel hand of fate.

A sudden chill gripped him as the adow faded away, replaced by a haunting darkness that seed to stretch into eternity.

Panic seized him as he searched frantically for her, calling out her na into the void, but there was no response, only the echo of his own voice bouncing off the walls of his subconscious. The weight of guilt settled upon his chest like a heavy stone, crushing him with the weight of his promises left unfulfilled.

Suddenly , standing before him, was Bella– her ethereal form bathed in an otherworldly glow.

"Remo," her voice was a whispered caress, carrying with it the weight of a thousand regrets. "Why did you leave behind?"

Tears welled up in Remo’s eyes as he reached out to touch her, only to have his hand pass through her ghostly figure. "I’m sorry, cupcake," he choked out, his voice raw with pain. "I never wanted to leave you. But you were taken from , and I couldn’t bear the emptiness."

Her eyes brimming with tears of betrayal and hurt. "You promised," she whispered, her voice a re whisper in the wind. "You promised to love forever."

Remo’s heart shattered into a million pieces as he struggled to find the words to explain, to apologize, but his tongue felt heavy in his mouth, and his throat constricted with the weight of his guilt. He reached out to her, desperate to hold her close, but she pulled away.

"I’m sorry—"

Bella’s gaze softened, filled with a sorrow that mirrored his own. "I understand, Remo. But know this – my love for you will never fade, even in death."

With those words, she began to fade away, her form dissolving into the darkness until she was nothing more than a wisp of mory. And as Remo reached out to grasp her fleeting image, he was jolted awake, drenched in a cold sweat.

Gasping for breath, he sat up in bed, his heart pounding with the remnants of the nightmare that still lingered in his mind. Beside him, Abby slept peacefully, oblivious to his nightmares.

Remo’s chest tightened as he gazed at Abby, her peaceful slumber unaware of the turmoil raging within him. The weight of his guilt pressed down on him like a suffocating blanket, threatening to crush him beneath its unyielding grasp.

Why now? Why after so long of peaceful nights, did Bella’s mory co back to haunt him with such intensity? Was it the guilt of moving on, of finding happiness with soone else while promising eternal love to another? The questions swirled in his mind, tornting him with their unanswerable nature.

He pressed his trembling hands to his face, trying to steady his erratic breathing, trying to push back the mories that threatened to consu him whole.

Was this what guilt felt like? The gnawing fear, the twisting pain in his stomach, the overwhelming sense of regret that threatened to drown him in its wake?

And Abby, sweet Abby, lying there beside him, unaware of the demons that haunted his every waking mont. He couldn’t bear the thought of hurting her, of tainting her gentle soul with the darkness that lurked within him.

The pain of losing Bella, of breaking promises made in the innocence of youth, still gnawed at his soul, leaving him paralyzed with fear at the thought of opening his heart again.

Every ti he looked at Abby, he couldn’t help but see echoes of Bella in her gentle deanor, in the way she smiled at him with such warmth and understanding. And yet, the fear of repeating past mistakes, of betraying another’s trust, held him back like an anchor dragging him down into the depths of his own insecurities.

He couldn’t shake the feeling that loving Abby ant betraying Bella’s mory, that he was sohow dishonoring the love they had shared by allowing himself to feel sothing for another. It was a tangled web of emotions, a battle between the past and the present, between the fear of letting go and the desire to embrace what could be.

But even as he grappled with his inner demons, Remo knew deep down that Abby was different, that she was worth the risk, worth the pain of confronting his past and moving forward into an uncertain future.

Unfortunately he had nearly ssed it up, hadn’t he?

A bitter taste filled his mouth as he swallowed back the lump in his throat, the realization sinking in that he was his own worst enemy. The monsters in his head, the ghosts of his past, were his burden to bear, and he feared they would always be there, lurking in the shadows, ready to strike when he least expected it.

But despite it all, despite the fear and the pain and the overwhelming sense of guilt, one thing remained clear: he couldn’t let Abby go. He couldn’t lose her, not when she was the light in his darkness, the one who had the power to chase away the demons and make him feel whole again.

Remo’s thoughts swirled in a chaotic dance of desire and self-doubt as he gazed at Abby, the fear of rejection, of exposing the darkest corners of his soul to her, held him back like chains binding him to the past. Could he truly let her in, show her the reality of his life, and risk losing her in the process?

His mind raced with a thousand possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. What if she couldn’t handle the truth, couldn’t accept the darkness that lurked within him? What if she saw him for who he truly was and turned away in disgust?

The weight of his insecurities bore down on him, threatening to crush him beneath their unrelenting pressure. He knew he wasn’t worthy of her love, wasn’t deserving of the light she brought into his life, but still, he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.

With a heavy sigh, Remo brushed a gentle kiss against Abby’s forehead, his heart aching with the weight of his conflicting emotions. Maybe, just maybe, he could try to let her in, to show her so small part of himself and see if she could handle the truth.

But even as he entertained the idea, doubt gnawed at the edges of his resolve, whispering words of self-loathing and inadequacy. He felt so insecure around her, so unworthy of her affection, yet he couldn’t deny the pull she had on his heart, the way she made him want to be a better man, if only for her sake.

Abby stirred from her sleep, her brow furrowing with concern as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "Remo—are you okay?" Her voice was soft, laced with worry, as she reached out to him in the dim light of their bedroom.

Remo’s heart swelled with warmth as Abby stirred from her slumber, her concern for him shining bright in the darkness of the night. He swallowed back the lump in his throat, the words caught in his chest as he struggled to find the courage to open up to her, to let her in.

"Yes," he managed to choke out, his voice barely a whisper in the stillness of the room.

Abby’s frown deepened at his response, her eyes searching his face for any sign of the turmoil that raged within him. But before she could press further, he felt her gentle touch, her hand reaching out to him with a tenderness that made his heart ache with longing.

"Co, let’s sleep," she said softly, her voice a soothing lody in the darkness. And with a gentle tug, she pulled him close, enfolding him in the warmth of her embrace as he rested his head against her chest.

In that mont, Remo felt a sense of peace wash over him, a fleeting respite from the storm of his own thoughts. He closed his eyes and allowed himself to be swept away by the rhythm of Abby’s heartbeat, the steady cadence lulling him into a state of calm he hadn’t felt in years.

And as Abby pressed a tender kiss to his head, he knew, deep down, that everything would be okay, that he didn’t have to face his demons alone, not as long as she was by his side. With her, he found solace, he found acceptance, he found love.

And in that simple gesture of affection, Remo found the courage to believe that maybe, just maybe, he was worthy of her love after all
