Ian Rowe’s eyes slightly moved when he saw Maya Monroe, but before he could react, Maya’s roar sounded.

"What the hell are you doing? What the hell are you doing?!" Maya walked up to Ian, clutching her chest as if heartbroken, "To think I worked so hard to bring you lunch, do you know how much precious sleep I sacrificed for this?" As she said this, Maya truly felt a twinge in her heart, "But Ian, just look at what you’re doing! You dog of a man, can you look in the eye?!"

Maya’s acting skills were quite impressive, playing the part of a love-crazed and resentful wife from a wealthy family with ease.

Ian’s brows furrowed slightly, and he stood up straight: "Listen to ..."

Maya’s shrill voice interrupted him: "Listen to what? What explanation could you possibly have? Do explanations not really just cover-ups? Am I disturbing your quality ti together, and are you just itching to see leave now?"

Yvette Jacobs was startled nearby; she hadn’t expected the rumors to be true—Maya was just like a fierce wife from the countryside, a tigress, completely unreasonable. She expected Ian to soon find her intolerable.

But when she looked over with expectation, she only saw a crack in Ian’s usually calm and collected expression—not anger but...concern.

Yvette couldn’t help but speak: "Miss Monroe, you’ve misunderstood my relationship with Ian. We only ever discuss work, really nothing more..."

"Shut up!" It was unimaginable that these words ca from Ian’s mouth.

Maya secretly rejoiced in her heart; she’d been waiting for Yvette to speak those words. To be honest, Yvette’s scheming and acting skills were too subpar. Had it not been for the rare chance of catching Ian with another woman, Maya couldn’t be bothered to use Yvette as a target.

"Ha, Ian, you’re really sothing. The girl’s calling you ’brother,’ and yet you remain stubborn without sha, do you think I’m a fool? I heard Vincent say that you appreciate capable, independent won, and now it seems you’ve found one! So the next step is to kick out and fly off with soone else? I know you’ve always looked down on my clumsy nature, I won’t hold you back any longer. Let’s divorce!"

Maya said this last sentence with crisp clarity—she had finally seized this opportunity, laying her irrational behavior on thick. She didn’t believe Ian wouldn’t get angry! The best thing would be for Ian to agree to a divorce in anger, thus losing his backing, making it easier for Kiki Monroe to mock her, and completing her task sooner.

After saying this, she waited for a while but didn’t get a response from Ian, only felt an increasingly chilly atmosphere.

Yvette had long hoped for Maya and Ian to divorce, believing soone like Maya didn’t deserve Ian: "Don’t misunderstand, we’re really not what you think, in fact..."

Suddenly, a docunt was hurled fiercely to the ground next to her, startling Yvette. She looked up only to see Ian’s eyes bloodshot, as if a fierce beast about to devour soone.

"Get out!!"

Now he looked like he was about to lose control, nowhere near his usual composed noble deanor. Yvette suddenly felt afraid, her teeth chattering, hunched over she hurriedly fled.

Now the room was left with only Maya and Ian. Looking at Ian’s current state, Maya felt a bit of fear—perhaps she had pushed too far; perhaps saying a couple of things to achieve her goal would’ve sufficed.

Maya took a step back.

Ian, however, sidestepped the desk, pressing closer with each step.

"You want a divorce?"

His voice was calm again, but his imposing presence grew ever stronger.

Ian wore just a white shirt, without even a tie. He wasn’t the frail type; Maya could faintly see the outlines of muscles bulging on his arm. She wondered if she’d be able to get up from the ground if he hit her. However, Maya didn’t rember Ian having any tendencies towards dostic violence in the story. So what was with this intimidating deanor?

Maya swallowed, ultimately cowering: "Why are you in such a hurry? I won’t spread rumors about you, this is between the two of us, I won’t make you look bad..."

Maya was now downcast, her previously overbearing deanor toned down a notch.

Ian gazed at the red mole on the tip of Maya’s nose, bending down again.

"Maya..."

The distance between them suddenly closed; Maya grew even more afraid. Why was Ian suddenly so close?

Ian reached out his hand.

Maya’s heart skipped a beat—was he really going to hit her?

But instead, Ian gently caressed her soft hair, leaving Maya montarily stunned by his tender gesture.

A strange feeling brushed through Maya’s heart, although it quickly vanished.

"Yvette is the daughter of one of the company’s directors. Mr. Jacobs asked to guide her on so company managent issues, and I agreed, which is why she was in the office discussing matters with . Because I sent the secretary downstairs to pick you up, the room was left with just the two of us. I’ve never harbored any inappropriate thoughts about her. This was an oversight on my part, and I will have her dismissed imdiately. This won’t happen again."

Maya’s incomprehension was already showing on her face, was Ian explaining himself to her? Why explain? Was he afraid she might ruin his reputation? Didn’t she just say she wouldn’t embarrass him?

Maya found herself rarely without words again. Why is this mission world so strange? In previous tasks, it wasn’t uncommon for the original character to be married to a big shot. Maya was already skilled at playing the irrational act, and big shots would get so eager to divorce her within half a month. But why is Ian not following the script? Is it because he’s better looking than all the other characters?

Okay... off track.

"Do you understand? So next ti, do not casually ntion the word ’divorce’." Ian’s eyes were deep, like a pool of water.

Maya nodded dumbfoundedly.

The coldness in Ian’s expression finally subsided, and he called out to Secretary Liu.

Kane Davis imdiately pushed the door open and walked in, still holding the lunch box Maya had forced on him.

He had been waiting outside the whole ti—the boss’s family business, especially this chaotic scene, was really not sothing suitable for a little secretary to watch.

Ian glanced at him blandly: "Bring the lunchbox over."

Kane understood, imdiately serving the lunch onto the table from the lunchbox, as an enticing aroma wafted upon opening it. Kane paused montarily.

This was such a feast, not like what Ian would typically enjoy!

Kane steeled himself and finished placing the dishes, after all, he had done as Ian instructed, and whether Ian ate or not was no longer his concern.

Seeing the at laid out, Ian arched a brow slightly.
