"Mrs. Rowe, you certainly don’t need to underestimate yourself. We chose you after considering all aspects. You’re incredible, and I really like your performance, there’s no doubt about that."

"Besides, the affection between you and Mr. Rowe is truly enviable."

The last sentence seed to be ntioned casually, but Maya Monroe picked up on a different aning from it.

Maya lowered her gaze, hesitating, "So... Did Ian help secure this audition opportunity? Did he make so investnts?"

Yvonne Hall seed slightly surprised, "Hasn’t Mr. Rowe told you?" She laughed again, "It seems Mr. Rowe wanted to give you a surprise, and I was too rash. He’s always finding ways to help you achieve your wishes; the relationship between you two is indeed enviable."

Maya didn’t respond for a mont, her eyes flickering with uncertainty.

"We’ve wanted a collaboration scenario with Mrs. Rowe before, and today it finally ca true. I look forward to our next eting."

Maya, feeling agitated, hurriedly ended the call after a few words.

Ryan noticed Maya’s visibly low mood and couldn’t help but ask worriedly, "What’s wrong? You just went out to make a call, and now you’re like this?"

To say she was down might not be accurate; she looked a bit indifferent, even without enthusiasm for her favorite food, often lost in thought.

"It’s nothing..." Maya downed the tea in her cup.

"If it’s nothing, then eat more. I never knew you liked drinking tea so much. What’s the point of drinking tea? Eat more!"

Due to the joy from the successful audition, Ryan’s attitude was even enthusiastic.

Scott looked up and also encouraged Maya to eat more; he had just finished a dessert, with a bit of cream on the corner of his mouth.

"Alright, you guys eat too."

Maya picked up her chopsticks, but her heart was a stormy sea, leaving her with little appetite.

The usually delicious food now tasted bland, and after a few bites, she put down her chopsticks and took out her phone to play a ga.

Ryan drove Maya ho, and after she had walked a few steps, she heard Ryan call out.

Maya turned back.

Ryan lowered the car window, "Maya, go ho and get so rest, your state hasn’t been great lately."

Maya nodded, "Thank you, Ryan."

When Ian Rowe ca ho, he subconsciously looked around the living room, and for once, he saw Maya’s figure.

She was curled up on the sofa, holding a bunch of grapes, occasionally popping one into her mouth.

The screen played her favorite cody show.

Inexplicably, Ian suddenly felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

Perhaps he had imagined such a scene more than once, coming ho after a day’s work to see the person he most longed to see. She didn’t need to deliberately cater or be a perfect homaker; just seeing her was enough.

Feeling the intense and focused gaze from behind, Maya turned her head.

She glanced at the clock; it was just after seven, surprisingly early for soone like Ian, who was so focused on work. He had said he would co back earlier, but she didn’t expect him to be serious about it.

"Have you had dinner?"

Maya slowly ca back to her senses from his voice, shaking her head, "No, I wanted to chat with you. There’s sothing I want to ask."

Chat?

She usually seed indifferent about things, but now seeing her so serious was rare, which intrigued Ian, prompting him to walk over slowly.

If one listened closely, his voice long lacked its initial coldness, the lower-toned sound entangled with a unique lingering softness, quite srizing to hear.

Maya moved aside, and Ian sat next to her.

Since the last incident, Maya had always avoided him, yet now, she was sowhat proactive.

Ian’s eyes slightly shifted, his gaze resting on her cheek.

"Didn’t I go for an audition a few days ago? Today I got the news that I passed it. Did you help with this?"

While Maya scrutinized Ian, he was also keenly observing every expression on her face.

Odd, why didn’t she seem as happy as he imagined?

Ian rembered Maya’s tenacity and hard work concerning the entertainnt industry, but after getting the role, she didn’t seem very excited, leaving Ian a bit puzzled.

"Did sothing unexpected happen?"

"No, nothing unexpected, so you really helped get the female lead’s role?"

Ian nodded, his eyes still focused, "I just wanted to make you happy."

Maya’s eyes welled up with complexity, "Then why didn’t you tell ?"

"It’s not a big deal."

"Ian... Are you deliberately trying to please with what you’re doing now? Just like before, do you want to willingly have a child for you?"

"Yes and no."

Ian lowered his eyes, contemplating how to explain the matter, when suddenly, Maya spoke:

"I’m neither highly intelligent nor highly emotionally intelligent, nor particularly good at managing a household. You... don’t have to go this far."

In the plot, they were supposed to divorce sooner or later; Ian’s actions would be in vain.

Ian suddenly raised his head, his eyes swirling with a storm, "I don’t understand, what do you an by don’t have to?"

Maya frustratedly scratched her head, "Vincent Sumrs said you like well-educated and reasonable intellectuals."

She slightly lowered her head, her voice tinged with dejection, "Our views on choosing a partner completely mismatch; we won’t last long."

Involving plot issues, she naturally couldn’t lay it out, so she spoke subtly, understanding that soone as rational as Ian couldn’t possibly misunderstand.

All of a sudden, a force ca to her arm, and Maya looked up, eting Ian’s intense gaze.

His chest heaved slightly, clearly indicating he was quite frustrated, his eyes a bit red, barely maintaining composure.

Maya heard his voice, icy and biting.

"Maya, have you never stopped thinking about divorce?"

His gaze carried a deep scrutiny, leaving her with nowhere to hide.

Maya suddenly felt a bit guilty, but she had a thick enough skin not to show it on her face.

"I... I’m just afraid of wasting your ti..."

Her playful and unserious attitude, mixed with the crisis brought by Leo, made Ian exhale heavily.

"Maya, let be honest with you..."

He suddenly leaned down, staring directly into her eyes.

Maya felt a slight pain in her arm, and she couldn’t help but reach out to push him away.

The force on her hand instantly loosened, but the binding feeling remained.

"Want a divorce? Not in this lifeti!"
