After Maya Monroe got in the car, she took off her coat. Finding it cumberso, she casually tossed it onto Ian Rowe sitting next to her.

"Honey, why did you suddenly co to pick up?"

Ian Rowe withdrew his gaze from the window and replied nonchalantly.

"It was on the way."

"Do you still have work tonight?"

"Yeah."

Vincent Sumrs maneuvered the steering wheel and upon hearing this, gave a sarcastic smile, "There’s no better way to say it’s on the way."

Ian Rowe turned his head to look at Maya Monroe. His handso face was highlighted by the dark night outside the window. His eyes were like deep wells, unfathomable, and he asked seemingly inadvertently, "Have you and Leo Lancaster been in touch all this ti?"

In Maya Monroe’s impression, this wasn’t Ian Rowe’s first ti ntioning Leo Lancaster.

Why? Why does he care so much about her and Leo Lancaster? There wasn’t any ntion of this in the storyline!

"Ah... Leo, well, we just happened to et while filming a variety show. Since we’re in the sa circle, it’s more common to bump into each other."

Ian Rowe didn’t say anything more. He closed his eyes, recalling a scene just monts ago. He was almost certain about one thing...

By the ti they arrived at the villa, Maya Monroe was already too sleepy to keep her eyes open. But her mind was still sowhat clear, and she woke up the mont the car door opened.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Ian Rowe leaning over. His naturally deep and dark eyes always gave off a sense of distance that was hard to breach. But at this mont, the night shrouded him, softening his features slightly.

Seeing Ian Rowe reaching out his hand, Maya Monroe guessed he was about to carry her.

Maya Monroe moved her feet slightly and felt a little soreness in her ankle. Standing there foolishly on stage and participating in that silly ga made her feet and legs hurt more than usual.

She wasn’t pretentious, directly extending her arms to wrap around Ian Rowe’s neck.

The abrupt closeness radiated the heat of their breaths. Ian Rowe felt his heartbeat slow half a beat.

"Didn’t you want to carry ? Let’s go quickly; it’s really cold here!"

Ian Rowe ca to his senses and carried her out of the car.

A hint of coolness lingered in the air, and the night wind tousled his hair, yet he didn’t find it cold.

Maya Monroe often fell asleep on the road, and Ian Rowe was used to carrying her upstairs. However, those tis were always in a princess hold. This ti, she was awake, holding onto his neck. The face-to-face distance allowed him to see her radiant face at a slight glance...

"Honey, why do you have to carry ?"

Maya Monroe instinctively snuggled closer to Ian Rowe at the feel of the cold.

She asked this question in a casual tone, yet she was genuinely curious. Why did Ian Rowe want to carry her? Didn’t he dislike her?

The other party was silent for a few seconds, and then Maya Monroe heard his voice, which had suddenly turned cold.

"Or who do you want to carry you?"

Maya Monroe looked up, first catching sight of his smooth yet slightly stern jawline.

She always felt like his eyes hid a fire, a silent fire that had the potential to blaze into a wildfire with a little provocation.

Maya Monroe thought it over carefully.

Ian Rowe must have thought she was asleep, which is why he wanted to get her out of the car. According to Vincent Sumrs, Ian Rowe had a strong possessiveness since childhood, so naturally, he wouldn’t let soone else drag her down.

Thinking like this, everything seed reasonable again.

Maya Monroe tightened her grip on his neck, saying in a muffled voice, "Honey, what nonsense are you talking about? I’ve told you countless tis, my heart is only for you. No room for anyone else. There’s a saying, hmm... I know I don’t need to say it because you surely know it..."

It wasn’t just once that she regretted not studying well before.

Vincent Sumrs also got out of the car, in slippers with socks hastily thrown on. His hair was a ss, and his face bore signs of weariness.

As he walked over, he saw Ian Rowe and Maya Monroe in their affectionate interaction.

The chilly wind blew desolately, yet he had to endure this public display of affection. Vincent Sumrs felt rather desolate.

"You’re adults, yet you’re clinging onto Brother Rowe like a child."

Earlier, when Vincent Sumrs was sitting in the front, Maya Monroe managed only a glimpse of the back of his head. Now she observed what a scruffy state Vincent Sumrs was in.

"Did you just co back from coal mining?"

Vincent Sumrs’ face stiffened, then he retorted indignantly, "Do you think I want to be like this..."

Noticing Ian Rowe’s gaze cast over as well.

"What do you know? This is the trendy style nowadays. Many people like to dress this way!"

"It’s quite unique." Maya Monroe nodded, not dwelling much on it since she wasn’t familiar with the fashion circle herself.

However, after receiving praise, Vincent Sumrs’ expression didn’t improve.

"You go back and rest well." Ian Rowe’s gaze landed on him.

Finally hearing the words for rest, Vincent Sumrs was no longer overjoyed, as the earlier ordeal had left him wide awake with a hint of excitent, despite being exhausted before.

"And a raise when you return."

Vincent Sumrs’ eyes lit up, lips parted slightly, seemingly in disbelief.

"Brother Rowe, a person as tightfisted as you... no, I an, I’m so touched!! You are truly an exceptionally kind person!!!" Vincent Sumrs said, wiping away nonexistent tears.

Busy day and night, serving as both secretary and driver, occasionally taking on the role of a janitor. Doing multiple jobs, living the life of a corporate slave, tirelessly day in and day out, he finally awaited the promise of a raise...

However, soon after, he realized sothing was amiss. Usually, no matter how hard he worked himself into the ground seeking a raise, it was never easy. Why was it so simple this ti...?

Nonetheless, getting a raise was a good thing, and Vincent Sumrs shed his downcast deanor, his face full of smiles, and even exuded a hint of pride as he said, "Then Brother Rowe, you and Maya better hurry inside and rest. It’s chilly at night; catching a cold wouldn’t be good."

"Be safe on your way back."

After Ian Rowe said this, he carried Maya Monroe into the villa.

Suddenly a fluffy head rested on his chest, and he realized Maya Monroe had fallen asleep at so point.

Wang Ma was coming down the stairs, "Sir, you and Madam are back?"

"Still busy at this late hour?"

Wang Ma’s hair was neatly tied up, and when she smiled, her eyes would crease into a few wrinkles. Yet she looked friendly, and her smile only added to her amiable appearance.

"I don’t have much to do, and it feels uncomfortable doing nothing here. Just sent my grandson back to my second son’s house today. The kids at ho have their parents to take care of them, so I’m quite at ease by myself."

Ian Rowe nodded, "You don’t need to work so hard anymore. There are other maids to help you. Wang Ma, you’re getting up in years, and you must take care of your health."
