Chapter 87: Ch 87: Pay A Visit- Part 5
Lynn’s face twisted into an almost uncomfortable smile as I sat opposite him and another alpha.
But Lynn was professional enough not to let it get to him and just laughed it all off.
"So, Hunter Lynn, what brings you here? I thought you would be all busy with the new dungeon."
Emma asked with a curious tone as she brought out tea to serve our guest. Lynn took the tea and sipped it before he put the cup down.
His eyes imdiately found mine and I felt myself stiffen under that familiar look. I tried to discreetly look away, but it was of no use.
"Ah, I am here because of that dungeon as well. I wanted to ask Kyle for help regarding that dungeon. I know I am asking too much from him, but I don’t want more people getting hurt because of it."
The alpha’s words sounded nice on the outside, but I could tell that he was secretly trying to pressure
to agree with him.
I gritted my teeth to calm myself down, but it felt to be of no use.
"Ah, that dungeon? But why would you need Kyle’s help? You want an ordinary citizen to go into a dungeon that is dangerous? I won’t allow that."
Emma told Lynn, and I watched as Lynn stiffened before he looked at .
I turned my head away, not wanting to see the questioning look that the alpha was sending .
"Huh-! Kyle has not told you all yet? I guess that can be a heavy topic to bring up. Kyle, if you do not want to say it, should I do the honors—"
I imdiately threw the pillow beside
toward Lynn.
"Kyle—! What are you—!"
Emma asked in a shocked voice as she watched
humiliate their guest. But I could not help it.
I did not want Lynn to tell my beloved ones the truth about myself. If anyone was going to do that, it was going to be .
"I... sorry, Emma, but I felt like I needed to be the one to tell you all the truth. I... am not a civilian but a hunter as well. I just... did not want to live like that anymore, so I lied to you about my identity."
I told Emma and Ben, and I was prepared to see their betrayed or disappointed faces.
But they looked calm and even had an understanding look on their faces when they looked at .
"That... we already knew about that even before we took you in, Kyle. Do you recall that you were injured when we first t? Your injuries were too severe for a normal human to survive. But since you never said anything, we did not want to pressure you to tell us the truth."
Emma told , and I felt a little speechless. She continued once she realized I had nothing to say.
"Well, we decided to help you regardless of that, and we wanted to wait until you felt comfortable enough to tell us the truth. And it seems like now is the ti... even if it is not the best ti. So, would you like to tell us your hunter na?"
Emma asked, and she truly looked like she was ready for anything.
I braced myself to speak, but Lynn decided to speak up before I even ntally prepared myself.
"Oh wow—! You have a nice and supportive network, Ace. I can see why you wanted to stay here."
Silence followed Lynn’s words, and I picked up another pillow before I threw it at the alpha hunter.
He was pissing
off, but I did not want to risk drawing blood and make it difficult for Emma to get the stain out.
Once Lynn fell quiet, I turned toward Emma with an almost desperate look in my eyes.
"I—I was going to tell you about it soon, Emma. I promise. It’s just... I kept getting greedy and wanting just a little more ti."
I told the female, who actually looked shocked. Ben was blinking slowly as well as he tried to co to terms with the shock I had just given them.
"Kyle... I... no... Ace... ugh, this is awkward. I just... need so ti to digest this news. Ben, can you take
back to my room?"
Emma asked, and Ben nodded. I turned toward Theo to see what he had to say. But Theo looked unbothered.
"Theo... you... don’t look shocked."
And Theo truly looked calm.
"I don’t care whether you are Ace or Kyle. I just know that I like you, and I spent ti with you and got to know you. You are precious to , and being a hunter or having a past won’t change that for ."
Theo’s eyes were clear when he told
that. His grip on my hand was also tight but calming.
The more he spoke, the more I felt like I was calming down.
"I... see... that’s good to hear."
I told Theo, and he just nodded.
His words must have reached Emma and Ben as well because the pair turned to look at
with warm eyes.
"Theo is right, Kyle. It... is a little shocking to know that you are Ace and the fact that we treated you like we did... I feel ashad. But don’t you dare think it will change what I feel about you. You are still a precious person in my life."
Emma told , and Ben nodded. I almost felt tears hit my eyes at that, and I had to hold myself back from crying.
Now was truly not the ti to be doing that.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we truly cannot spend a lot of ti here. The dungeon has started to spread, and at this rate, a dungeon break is inevitable. So, I am here to bring Ace with
to help with the dungeon."
Lynn told everyone, and Emma reacted first.
"No—! I will not send Kyle to a dungeon. He wants nothing to do with the dungeons or hunters. Besides, humanity has been fine for the past ten years while he’s been gone. It is not fair for you to co for him now."
I felt my heart swell as soon as I heard Emma defending . I wanted to speak up and thank her for it.
But I also knew that Lynn was right. I had a duty to protect these people. So, I needed to return.
"I understand that you are frustrated, ma’am. But we are talking about too many lives here. Ace’s help is—"
"Not needed. Kyle is not going anywhere. I won’t let him go without ."
Theo spoke up, and his voice sounded firm. His grip on
was tight as well, and he glared at the hunter alpha in a way that said he would kill him next.
Not that Lynn was worried. He just sighed and gave
a look of frustration.
I knew what Lynn wanted
to do, and fortunately for him, I was in agreent with him.
"Everyone, Hunter Lynn is right. I do need to help out with this dungeon if it truly is as dangerous as it appears. I want to do my part to protect you all as well."
