Chapter 79: Ch 79: Back Ho at Last- Part 2
"Hey, can I order another drink?"
"Get
so ran as well."
"Get my order first...."
The loud yelling almost made my ears bleed but I plastered a smile on my face as I went back to work. The PC Cafe had returned to its original state once it had been reopened and that ant a lot of traffic.
It also ant that I had no ti to sit around and relax anymore. Everyone wanted sothing to be delivered to their tables.
But while it was all standard procedure, what I did not like was the way so of the alphas were looking at
as if I were fresh at.
Three of the groups of alphas had already tried to discreetly touch or harass
and one had even tried to threaten
unsuccessfully.
I had taken care of them silently to not worry Emma or Ben but the intense looks Theo was giving
and so of the alphas told
that he likely realized what was happening.
Thankfully, Theo was too good of a person to harm soone so he stayed out of the feud...for now.
"Hey-! Did you not hear ? I asked for my food-!"
The impatient alpha table yelled and I could hear snickers coming from it.
’Tsk, both Emma and Ben are too busy. Otherwise, I could have asked them to help
out.’
Now I had no choice but to pick up the food and make this delivery...or so I thought. But just as I reached for the food, soone else grabbed it.
I blinked and looked at Theo as he smiled and gave
a reassuring look.
"Don’t worry about this. I’ve got this. You should go back and prepare the next al. I will take care of the delivery."
Theo told
before he headed toward the alpha’s section. I had no ti to stop him or warn him before he reached the table.
As expected, the alpha custors did not look happy to see him and I could hear loud insults being thrown around.
’H-How dare these people-! Just because Theo is not speaking up does not an...!’
I felt angry and annoyed at the custors and I was about to throw them out when sothing weird happened.
Those alphas stood up on their own and decided to leave. They quickly paid their due and headed out before I could figure out what happened.
"Huh-! Theo, did sothing happen?"
I asked Theo and the alpha made a confused face as well.
"I don’t know. I just know that we were talking one second and the next second, I blanked out. When I ca around, those alphas were leaving...ah, but who cares? Isn’t that a good thing? I will make the next delivery as well."
Theo told
but I did not feel the sa cheer as he did.
I instinctively knew that sothing was wrong, but I could just not prove it yet. So I decided to keep an eye on the situation the whole day, but nothing happened.
And that was how the closing ti for the PC Cafe ca.
"Ugh, so much work. I hate the after-championship season. There are so many people who co to the cafe. Maybe I should keep it closed for a little longer."
Emma complained as she cleared the counter. Despite her words, the job of working was clear on her face.
"You will go mad with boredom if we did that."
Ben countered Emma’s words and Emma pouted before she turned on the T.V.
I was not one to see a lot of T.V. but for so reason, I felt my eyes gravitate toward it a little.
[On today’s fresh news, we have an exclusive interview with the only family Ace left behind. Let’s hear what his uncle and aunt have to say about the whole situation-]
I blinked as the aged-up faces of my uncle and aunt ca on screen....not that I felt anything for them.
For , they were just two people I occasionally saw and who had taken care of
for a month before selling
off.
But for the world, they were related to
by blood and hence people who were ’close to Ace’ and thus, worth hearing out.
[What do you think about the association scandal involving Ace? Do you feel angry that they used Ace’s na? What about-]
Now I felt a little curious as well to hear what my uncle had to say.
[Oh-! Don’t say that! Ace has...always been a private person. He’s nothing like our son Mike. He often likes to be in the shadows while working. So I have no questions that he asked the association to use a fake person as a stand-in for him.]
My uncle had always been good at spinning stories that benefited him. I was glad to see that he still possessed this talent.
His words almost sounded genuine and anyone who did not know
would be fooled.
[Oh-! Now that makes a lot of sense. I guess we should all respect Ace’s privacy and not look too much into this matter....by the way, you both must be so proud of having Ace in your family line-]
And from here on, the interview turned into a standard one where the couple kept getting asked about Ace and they spoke, while also throwing jabs at how bad Ace was as a person and how their son was much better.
I had stopped caring about this couple a long ti ago. I had let them go but they had clearly no intention of letting
go.
"Oh my-! Aren’t they the irresponsible couple that sold Ace to the association? I am always shocked at their audacity to co forward and sprout such nonsense. Then again, the world seems to love gobbling up such nonsense."
Emma scoffed from where she was cleaning up and I almost snorted in shock over her words.
I had never heard anyone talk like this about my uncle and aunt. For most people, these two were the saints who raised
when my parents died...
No one liked to talk about the ti between my parents’ death and my life at an orphanage. It was as if that ti never existed.
"Emma, I know how you feel about this, but let’s not...think about it anymore. That is another family’s problem. For now, we have a lot of things to take care of on our end."
Ben reminded her and Emma huffed but finally gave in. I felt a small laugh bubble in my throat that I suppressed for now.
My eyes moved to look at Theo, but he had a blank look in his eyes. He was cleaning but it did not seem as if he was here at the mont.
"Theo, are you done with that section?"
I asked but there was no reply. So I decided to walk over to him and touch him to snap him out of whatever daze he had fallen into.
The reaction was instantaneous and Theo almost jumped back to avoid my hand. His eyes looked terrified as he glanced at
before he blinked and grabbed my arm tightly.
