Chapter 51: Ch 51: Cornered - Part 2
"Why won’t you let
see your face? What are you hiding? The more you behave like this, the more I want to know."
The alpha told
and I cursed him in my mind.
’You dickhead-! You piece of shit-! What do you think you are doing? Just because you are an alpha and a top hunter, you think you can dominate
like this? I should show you...’
However, no matter how much I wanted to act and show Lynn his place, I knew I needed to keep evading him and find a way to run away.
The alpha was forcing
into a corner and his hand felt like a looming threat as it ca toward .
Finally, I was cornered and my back hit the wall. I was truly cornered by the alpha’s huge fra.
"Hmm, what’s this? Now you have nowhere to run. Why don’t you surrender to
now and allow
to unmask you—"
The alpha asked and I used the ti he was distracted to attack his vulnerable side.
I did not expect the attack to do much, so when the alpha clutched his side in shock and pain, I was taken aback as well.
"Y-You—!"
The alpha tried to grab
but I used this opening to run away from him.
"Tsk, just for the record—what you did was harassnt, but you look like you are not in your right mind at the mont. Next ti you do this, I will report you to the hunter association."
I told the alpha before I left.
The last thing I heard was Lynn letting out a startled laugh as he was left behind by .
______
"Hahah... hahaha... what the hell-! Why am I laughing?"
Lynn asked as he clutched his hurt side.
He was still half in shock that the oga hunter had sohow found his injured side and attacked right there.
"Surely that was a coincidence, right? There is no way soone could have known I was injured during my last dungeon run. I should stop pushing myself hard."
Lynn complained but there was no one to hear him.
He knew that he was taking on too many dungeons and pushing himself too hard, but he could not stop himself.
Ace was back and Lynn wanted to et Ace. He had requested to et Ace a few tis already, but he had been rejected by the hunter association.
Lynn had a sharp nose so he could sll the conspiracy brewing in the ranks of the corrupted officials.
He also had a fascination with Ace so he could spot the fake Ace the association planted within seconds.
But despite that, he did not do anything about it and kept requesting to have a eting with Ace with a simple objective—to find the real Ace.
"Tsk, I thought that if I let the association use Ace’s na, the real Ace would show up to clear his na. Clearly, that was the wrong thing to count on. Now, I can only count on dungeons to run into Ace."
After all, everyone knew that Ace had a fascination with the dungeons and often went on dungeon runs to clear his head... or so the association claid in their interviews about Ace.
’But knowing those shitty and cunning people, I wonder how much of that is the truth and how much of it was a publicity stunt.’
Lynn had t Ace once, and he had been struck by Ace’s indifference back then.
The oga hunter carried himself in a way that drew Lynn in and he had decided then and there that one day, he would et Ace again and stand by him.
But now that he had the power to do that, Ace was gone.
"By the way... that hunter that ran away... he felt a little like Ace, right? And also like Kyle... now I am just thinking too much. I need to rest for so ti."
Lynn complained. But despite that, he did not get up and walk away. Instead, he walked toward the bench and sat down on it to rest for a while.
Not even half an hour passed before he realized that he was not alone.
"Did my team ask you to find , Rhiner? I told them I needed so ti alone, but it seems like they don’t trust my words."
Lynn reminded the new alpha and his voice almost sounded bitter at the end of his words. Ace decided to keep his distance from Lynn just in case Lynn were to lash out at him, but the current no.2 hunter never lashed out.
Instead, he cald down even more and his eyes went colder.
"It’s not like that. Your team just... respects you too much to confront you directly."
Rhiner reminded Lynn.
As soone in a similar situation to Lynn, he could understand how Lynn felt. But still, unlike Lynn, he was not that well-liked or powerful.
So in a way, it would not be wrong to say that he was jealous of Lynn.
"I see. I guess you are right. But I still want to stay out here for a while. Who knows, I might run into Ace while I’m doing that."
Lynn joked around but his words caused Rhiner to pause.
"Speaking of Ace... do you think the hunter association is hiding him because he asked them to? Maybe he’s tired of all the attention—"
Rhiner had not even finished speaking when Lynn broke off into laughter.
"Are you hearing what you are saying? Those old fools would even sell their sons if it ant they’d profit, never mind a goldmine like the no.1 hunter. It’s clear why any information regarding Ace is being kept locked up so tightly."
Lynn’s words caused Rhiner to go quiet as well.
Truthfully, he had already noticed that but he had not wanted to say it out loud. He had at least a little hope that the hunter association would not play around with such a heavy topic.
"Anyway, when you go back, tell my team that I will et them when I return. Until then, they do not need to care about
or co out to find
either."
Lynn told Rhiner and the alpha had no choice but to head back after that. Staying around any longer would cause him to make a bigger fool of himself.
Once Rhiner was gone, Lynn closed his eyes and decided to relax. The day had exhausted him and his life had gotten hectic as well.
"Shit-! If I knew I was going to be so busy, I would have kissed Kyle before coming here. That way, I would have at least one mory to distract
from all this ss in my head."
Lynn spoke out loud, but even he knew his words were fucked up.
Not that he cared because he knew what he was talking about would never happen. He just had a feeling that if he moved in to kiss Kyle at any ti, he would have faced more than injuries.
The current situation was interesting, but what was even more interesting to him was how too many people reminded him of Ace in the past few days compared to the last 10 years.
