Chapter 38: Ch 38: Drunken Mistake - Part 2

’What a beautiful dream. The beach waves feel nice and my body feels relaxed as well. I can lie down and—’

"Hey Ace, please pay attention. We are here to take care of the dungeon."

The peaceful air was broken by those annoying words and I turned around to see who had spoken... only to see Lynn standing behind

with his arms crossed.

But Lynn was not supposed to know who I was... then how...

"What do you an how? The whole world knows you are Ace since you announced your coback. What-! Did you think you could hide your existence for long?"

Lynn asked as he took a step toward

and I took a step back. Suddenly, the peaceful beach did not seem so peaceful and the water began to ripple.

Huge waves swung at

and that took

by surprise. I did not even get to struggle as they pulled

underneath the water’s surface.

"Ace, you are back—"

"Now that he’s back, we can leave everything to him—"

"Hey, you are the number #1 hunter, right? Then why would you not save my husband—"

The voices spoke over one another but sohow remained clear. In my mind, I could hear all of these voices overlapping and trying to drag

down further.

’No more-! I don’t want to hear anymore. I am no longer Ace. Ace does not exist... Darn it! Why am I having such a nightmare? I need to wake up.’

I was aware that this was a nightmare, but despite that, I could not bring myself to wake up. This all felt like sothing I had to endure, even if I did not want to.

The heavy feeling inside

got even heavier... it was beginning to hurt as well.

’Huh-! This is new. I cannot breathe... I—’

...

...

...

I woke up with a heavy pant as I threw away whatever was making it hard for

to breathe. There was a loud sound as a body collided with the ground and I imdiately looked down at it.

"Ouch-! Kyle, you are so an. All I wanted to do was sleep with you for a bit. You did not have to be so rough with ."

Theo complained as he rubbed his arm. He looked unhard otherwise and I felt my heartbeat slow down as well once I saw that.

’I... I woke up. Thank god it was all a dream... not that anyone would ever know I was Ace. Ace is long dead.’

After pushing myself to get up, I helped Theo up as well. The poor alpha had decided to make the floor his next ho at this rate.

"How many tis do I have to tell you not to co into my room during the night and sneak into my bed like this? At this point, it is your own fault this keeps happening to you."

I pinned the bla of what happened on Theo but he just gave

puppy eyes instead of answering.

It made

chuckle to see him acting this cute so early during the morning and with my lifted mood, I picked up the can of juice I had drunk last night...

The can of juice was not there, and instead, there was a can of alcohol... and a strong one at that.

’Oh no! Oh hell no-! Did I get drunk last night? But I don’t recall getting drunk? What did I do... shit, my mory is blank...’

I tried to recall what happened and the sudden sinking feeling in my stomach told

that it was nothing good.

Due to my resistance to most poisons and high immune value as a top hunter, I was highly resilient. But there was just one flaw in my resistances— alcohol.

So, I had a strict rule— to not get drunk when there was no need to and I had abided by that rule so far. The only reason I even kept alcohol around was because of an old habit. Erin used to co around and demand it.

’Darn it Erin! You’re dear, but you are still causing

issues.’

Now I was sure that sothing had happened last night, but I needed to make sure what exactly I did and how much damage control I needed to do.

I quickly got out of bed and got ready in record ti. When I went back to my room to pick up sothing, Theo was still blinking and waking up.

"Theo, hurry up and co for work. Otherwise, you will be late."

I reminded the alpha... not that he had ever shown up on ti before.

As soon as I entered the lobby of the pc café, I heard loud noises and even the T.V. had the sa news repeating over and over— Ace’s return.

The new hunter rankings were on display on the T.V. screen which clearly showed that Ace was the no.1 hunter currently, with Lynn having been pushed down.

"Kyle, hurry up and help us out. Did you see the news? Due to this, there is a sudden interest in Luminos Guild and everyone is here to talk to them. Business is hectic today."

Emma told

and gestured for

to co to her.

My feet moved on their own and I served people without thinking. All I wanted to do was open the system and check on the situation there. But I had no ti to do that until my lunch break.

As soon as my break ca, I darted toward my room and locked the door. Then, I opened the system screen and looked at my overwhelming inbox ssages.

[PM received - 999,999,999 (limit reached)]

Most of these ssages were from last night and more were coming. Everyone wanted to know more about Ace.

"Shit! This is bad! System, delete all the ssages and block them all. Filter any ssage that does not sound like an ergency or governnt alert."

[Understood. Deleting ssages]

The system was quick and filtered my conversations and I felt my body relax.

Suddenly, I recalled that I had wanted to find more information on the hunter’s network and that’s why I decided to re-activate my profile.

"I fucking hate alcohol... ugh, I don’t even want to enter any chat room. I can just imagine the kind of chaos that would occur if I did."

I complained as I looked at the aftermath of my stupid decision.

Be it online or offline, people could only talk about

at the mont and the reason I ca back.

"Kyle, are you done with your break? Sorry to call upon you like this, but we are short-staffed right now. I would have to ask you to co back."

Emma’s voice interrupted my inner monologue and asked

to return.

I almost scread at her to leave

alone because I was having a ntal breakdown. But I did need the job and money, so I pulled myself together.

Now that the world knew that Ace was back, it was only a matter of ti before they launched an investigation to look for . I really needed to do sothing about my looks to not get recognized.
