Upon realizing it was a Chinook salmon he caught, Lin Yang felt a bit puzzled; isn’t this a fish from the island? How did it end up in the sea?
He then rembered it’s a migratory fish, born in freshwater, growing up in the deep sea, and then returning to freshwater to spawn, so catching it in the sea isn’t unusual.
It was probably Lin Yang’s preconceived notion, having caught them in freshwater streams before, that made him surprised to catch one in the sea.
After unhooking the fish, he released it back into the sea.
Currently, it’s the season for Chinook salmon to spawn; they are likely heading to the river mouths for reproduction.
