Unspoken though it may be, the soup made from fresh fish in its natural state is exceptionally delicious, with a roasted fish recipe similar to Beggar’s Chicken that imparts a subtle fragrance of plant leaves. Add to that the hearty segnts of Silver Dragon Fish, and the lunch at midday is nothing short of delightful, primitive yet uniquely flavorful.
"Haha, it seems we’ve all underestimated these locals, the taste of the fish soup is really good!" Lin Yang scooped up a bowl of fish soup and took a sip, instantly feeling most of his morning’s fatigue vanish.
"What exactly is the leaf added to the fish soup just now?"
"This thod of cooking fish is a bit like our Beggar’s Chicken. The leaves and mud wrapping helps retain moisture, resulting in roasted fish that’s tender like stead fish."
"Let tell you, the most luxurious part is this pan-fried Silver Dragon Fish. Back ho, one could cost tens of thousands of yuan, and here it’s just casually pan-fried. The host is really extravagant!"
"Damn, this is making hungry. I’m so craving roasted fish."
Lin Yang took another slurp of the fish soup, then stopped chatting with his viewers, as it was ti for imrsive eating.
....
It’s apparent that these locals aren’t particularly sensitive about fish and rice and the like; they seem okay with eating more or less. However, upon seeing the canned beer being taken out, all three natives’ eyes lit up.
As Brother Sun had ntioned before, such goods aren’t produced locally and are entirely reliant on international imports, making them incredibly expensive. Many people earn less in a day’s work than the cost of a single bottle of beer.
Since soone else was footing the bill, Lin Yang didn’t mind at all and began generously distributing the entire case of beer.
Six people hid under the shade of trees at the makeshift campsite, eating roasted fish and drinking beer. If it weren’t for the slightly high temperature, it would have been quite a pleasant experience.
After eating their fill and taking a brief rest, it was unconsciously past two in the afternoon.
With the increasing sunlight, the air temperature rose slightly, reaching the hottest part of the day.
Conventional wisdom would dictate that this is the worst ti for fish to bite, but Sun Zheng says the Amazon is different. The giant bone tongue fish is accustod to the heat and tends to rise near the water surface to feed during this ti, creating a good window of opportunity.
Besides, with the fast flow of the water, the temperature at the bottom is slightly lower, encouraging other fish to bite as well.
"Alright, now that we’re well-fed and rested, let’s continue fishing and see how lucky we are in the afternoon!" Lin Yang got back on the boat, greeted his viewers, and resud casting his line.
Using his morning’s experience, he changed the landing spot of the lure in the afternoon.
The deep water area was full of Freshwater Whitebait, and Lin Yang set his new target point near the shore’s obstacle zone, similar to where one would fish for Peacock Bass.
With this adjustnt, he soon had a new catch. Just after casting his second line, he felt a weight at the tip of his rod – he had hooked another fish!
The feeling of this catch was entirely different from the others he had caught before. It didn’t have a strong burst of power, but the resistance was astonishing, almost like he had hooked a young calf, pulling the rod into a full bow.
"Holy crap, what kind of fish is this? It’s not fast, but it’s so strong!" Lin Yang exclaid.
"Could it be that I’ve encountered our target fish?"
"Giant bone tongue fish! Giant bone tongue fish! Blind guess, but I think the host has landed a giant bone tongue fish, ti for a celebration!"
At that mont, Sun Zheng, who was beside him, said in a low voice with a frown, "If I’m not mistaken, what you’ve caught should be a Red-tailed Catfish! Did it bite near the bottom?"
Lin Yang nodded, "Right! It took the bait near the bottom."
"Then it’s almost certain, Red-tailed Catfish like to fight like that after being hooked. Just grind it out slowly; it’s not too difficult." Sun Zheng said with confidence.
And he was right. After about ten minutes of effort, Lin Yang successfully pulled the fish aboard.
With its plump body, big forehead, and broad black back, its tail resembled that of a cow’s and was a bright red color.
Paired with the long barbels around its mouth, the overall appearance was extrely cute.
Yue’er rarely comnted when Lin Yang caught other fish, but when she saw this one erge, her eyes sparkled, "Wow, Brother Yang, what fish is this? It’s so derpy and cute, like a little chubby pig!"
Lin Yang: "This is the Red-tailed Catfish Brother Sun was talking about. You might not have heard of its scientific na, but there’s one na you should know. In our country’s ornantal fish market, it’s known as fortune cat!"
"Fortune cat?" Yue’er murmured to herself, furrowing her brows in thought. However, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make the connection between this fish and a cat.
Seeing her confusion, Lin Yang explained further, "This fish can make a sound resembling a cat’s ow when it’s mature, and it’s a hearty eater, hence the na fortune cat."
Many viewers in the live stream seed to recognize the fish.
"Whoa, such a big Red-tailed Catfish! If this were brought back ho, the host would make a fortune!"
"I think I rember this fish... Got it now, I saw it once at my uncle’s place. But the one he had was smaller, just two or three jin, and the colors were a bit different, if I rember right, it had a white belly?"
Using a fish grip to lock its mouth, Lin Yang pulled the fish aboard with steady force and flipped its belly to show the viewers, revealing the white underside.
It turns out that public aesthetics are quite consistent, indeed, the fish seed quite beautiful.
At that ti, Sun Zheng also added, "In China’s ornantal fish market, Red-tailed Catfish are usually between two to three jin and about fifty to sixty centiters long, but here, they are commonly seen in certain areas. I’ve seen individuals they’ve caught that are over a ter long, and I’ve heard there are even bigger
