"Lin Yang, you might not be too familiar with the local situation, so take my car, and I’ll give you a brief rundown on the way," Han Li offered.

"Ok," Lin Yang waved to Li Xiaopeng and Yue’er, indicating for Li Xiaopeng to drive with Yue’er while he took the passenger seat in the SUV.

Three vehicles set off from the fisheries research institute, heading straight into the heart of the Dongting Lake scenic area.

"I sent you an invitation letter that roughly described the nature of our research team, so I won’t go into details here, but I mainly want to talk to you about living conditions at the campsite after arriving.

Our fisheries research institute isn’t short on funds, but the provincial research center is too far from the campsite, so we can only stay in field cabins. Although equipped with power and water facilities, the temperature is quite low at night in the scenic area and the living conditions are sowhat harsh. I hope you and your companions won’t mind?"

As the liaison officer, Han Li was sowhat nervous when saying this.

It felt a bit awkward to invite a fishing expert as a technical advisor only to have them stay in a prefab house without even a decent hotel to offer, especially when he had brought such a lovely female assistant.

However, Lin Yang didn’t care at all and smiled, waving his hand, "No worries, we’re not too picky. As long as there’s a place to rest, we’re good. If you all can live there, so can we.

But I do have a request I’d like to ask, is our research team’s project classified as confidential?

You probably know I’m an outdoor fishing broadcaster, and given such a great opportunity, if there are no confidentiality requirents, I’d like to live stream the process," Lin Yang continued.

"No problem at all, our project itself is public and non-secret, and we will also publish so detailed information after catching big fish," Han Li replied.

"Then I’m relieved," Lin Yang said.

After chatting casually for about an hour, the cars, stopping intermittently, arrived at a campsite deep within the Dongting Lake scenic area.

"Lin Yang, we’ve arrived," Han Li braked, slowing the car down and coming to a stop in a relatively flat area.

Stepping out of the car, Lin Yang felt the air was truly fresh. A vast expanse of the lake t his eyes in the distance, while nearby, green shoots of reeds and grasses were sprouting.

"Just ahead is our campsite. I’ll take you to et our teacher first," said Han Li.

Lin Yang nodded, "Ok, let’s go report in first."

While talking, he was already surveying the research team’s campsite environnt.

You could tell that these people were quite knowledgeable about outdoor camping. The professional field cabins were on a south-facing, wind-sheltered slope, about thirty to forty ters away from the lakeside, with five or six prefab houses in a row, giving off the appearance of a small army base camp.

Hearing the sound of the vehicles, a middle-aged man wearing glasses soon ca out from one of the cabins.

"Teacher, we have brought back Mr. Lin Yang. This is his assistant Chen Yue and his companion Li Xiaopeng. This is the leader of our fisheries research project team and also my graduate supervisor, Chen Lin, Mr. Chen," Han Li introduced them.

Chen Lin greeted Lin Yang with a friendly smile and a handshake, "Welco, welco. How old are you this year, Xiao Yang? So young and you’ve already made such a na for yourself. Truly, a young hero!"

Lin Yang replied, "25, Mr. Chen, it’s nice to et you."

"Great, when I was your age, I was still an intern, and you’ve already achieved so much.

Xiao Han must have ntioned the situation to you on the way here, right? Our camp’s living conditions are quite spartan, and I hope you don’t mind. I’ve already arranged for soone to clean up a room for you."

"It’s fine, we sotis camp out when we go fishing, let’s get settled in first."

"Ok, get settled first. Xiao Han, call a few junior students to help with the luggage and accommodations. I’ve got so material to finish up. We’ll cook up a few hearty dishes tonight to welco Xiao Yang!"

"You go ahead. I’ll take a look around at the terrain," Lin Yang nodded.

Once Chen Lin turned away, the smile on his face faded a bit, and he felt less confident about the research project, even silently blaming his student for not doing a good job of collecting data.

A 25-year-old kid hardly looked older than his graduate students—how much could such a youngster really understand about the intricacies of fishing?

Setting aside his skill level, isn’t it a bit unconventional to co to a work project with a young and pretty girl in tow? Are they here to work or to enjoy a spring outing?

As a scientist, Chen Lin was naturally skeptical of such entertainnt-oriented distractions.

From the first eting, Chen Lin harbored a bit of doubt towards Lin Yang for various reasons.

Soon, Han Li called over a few junior students who were still in the campground to help unload Lin Yang’s luggage and equipnt.

They had assud a fisherman wouldn’t have much equipnt.

But upon opening the car, they found the trunk was filled with various fishing gear, and on the roof of the Tank 300, there was a suitcase also packed full of items.

This ti, Lin Yang had brought along not only various fishing rods like casting rods and lure rods but also three milk-crate-sized automatic inflatable fishing devices, which he had redeed in advance for this big fishing trip.

Accommodation arrangents were such that Lin Yang and Li Xiaopeng shared one cabin, and Yue’er stayed in another cabin with Han Li, who had guided them earlier.
