Lin Yang just made a casual guess, but to his surprise, he guessed correctly. Still, he couldn’t suppress his curiosity, as anything Sun Zheng specifically ntioned must have made a deep impression on him.

Seeing him agree so readily, Sun Zheng greeted the village chief and after a brief exchange, Tataro soon led the two towards a shed on the shady side of the place.

In the shed, there were all kinds of miscellaneous tools, and in the corner, there were two roughly made special pottery jars.

They were sowhat similar to the jars used for making pickles online, with a lid on top sealed with a liquid, giving the impression that they were fairly airtight.

Tataro hefted one of the jars with effort, treating it as carefully as a treasure, and took it out of the shed, finally placing it outside where it was well-ventilated.

Before opening it, he specifically warned them a few tis, and Sun Zheng translated to remind Lin Yang to beware of the sll, to not be overwheld by it when the jar was opened!

Despite Lin Yang’s ntal preparation, he was still almost knocked over by the pungent foul sll that hit him once Tataro opened the lid and poured out the sealing water.

How should one describe this sll?

It was a mix of hydrogen sulfide from rotten eggs and ammonia from decaying innards, plus the sll of animal feces.

If the odor of an ordinary rural dry toilet was scored at 20 points, then this foul, stinging sll would score at least 100 points.

"Holy shit, this sll is way too much!"

Lin Yang’s brain crashed instantly, and his lunch nearly ca back up. Compared to this, herring cans were simply child’s play.

With his nose covered, Sun Zheng said with a laugh, "Haha, your reaction to opening the jar already surpasses everyone else’s. No one who has slled it managed to keep from vomiting. These pottery jars are Tataro’s treasures, passed down from his father’s father, and they’re very effective for catching catfish.

The main ingredients, which I learned about during my previous visits, include a full set of hen’s innards mixed with several kinds of local plants unique to the area for ferntation. It’s similar to how we have a master stock for cooking at back ho, with the essence of the ferntation being the liquid at the bottom. Tataro’s ancestors were masters at fishing for catfish, and these pottery jars have a history of at least several decades...."

After hearing Sun Zheng’s explanation, Lin Yang, still covering his nose, asked with a frown, "I’ve certainly experienced the sll, but how effective is it in actual fishing? Also, do we need to set the bait in advance for night fishing?

If we can set it beforehand, these special fish baits could indeed be used.

If it’s about fishing on the spot, forget it. The sll alone is so overpowering that I can hardly stand straight, let alone fish—the potency is too great!"

"Set the bait?" Sun Zheng, who only had limited understanding of fishing, was initially confused by the term.

"It ans to toss the bait into the fishing area ahead of ti to attract fish, then start fishing at the scheduled ti. It’s a thod used in dostic platform angling. The resources here in the Amazon are richer, so I wonder if the locals do the sa? You’d better ask Tataro."

Seeing the other party’s confusion, Lin Yang specifically explained further.

"Oh, I see, I’ll ask him for you!" Sun Zheng nodded, then communicated with Tataro standing beside him to ask about the specifics.

After exchanging a few words, Sun Zheng replied, "Tataro said he can set it up for us in advance. However, we are short on ti today. If we decide to go fishing tonight, he will have to start heading to the marked spot now. It’s quite a hike, and any later will delay the trip.

"Alright then, since we’re here, let’s trouble him to go ahead. Tell him if we have a good catch, we can give him an extra tip."

"Okay!"

After another exchange, when Tataro heard Lin Yang’s promise of a tip, he visibly brightened.

Tataro imdiately began scooping out the fernted innards from the pottery jar with a hook, then took so fresh hen’s innards and started mixing and marinating them himself.

At this point, Lin Yang couldn’t take it anymore and excused himself to leave prematurely.

He felt that if he stayed another minute, his lunch would be completely lost.

Upon returning to his lodging, Lin Yang still sensed the lingering rotten stench in his nose as if he wouldn’t be able to recover his sense of taste for a while.

This was the terrifying effect from simply viewing from a distance; who knows if Tataro, who handled it personally, would end up thoroughly marinated in the stench.

After a while, Yue’er returned.

Since arriving at the camp in the morning, she had dedicated most of her attention to the local indigenous people and the children.

Besides the snacks distributed when they disembarked, she also opened the second box of snacks and completely mingled with the local kids.

"Brother Yang, I have sothing I’d like to discuss with you." As soon as Yue’er ca in, she couldn’t wait to speak up.

"What is it?"

"I was thinking, when we leave, can we leave the remaining supplies for these indigenous children? Afterwards, when I get back to our country, I want to send them so clothes and other life essentials."

"That’s possible! Except for our fishing gear and personal luggage, we weren’t planning to take anything else back. But are you sure you want to send clothes here?

Personal shipnts of clothing will incur all sorts of tariffs, shipping, and handling fees, which may end up costing more than the value of the clothes."

"Then what should I do? They are so pitiful; I want to help them."

Upon hearing this, Yue’er’s mood seed to drop.
