The next morning, a small square by Qiandao Lake already had an impressive platform set up.
The platform was mainly divided into two parts, one for the on-site hosts and judges, the other for the live broadcast room; Lin Yang and his two companions were primarily in charge of hosting today’s competition broadcast.
By eight in the morning, the three of them were already in place, running through their lines one last ti and testing the equipnt to ensure everything was working properly.
At half past eight, the live broadcast of the Battle of the Kings fishing competition officially began!
"Hello everyone, I’m Xia Xiaoxue, welco to tune in to our live broadcast of the 16th Battle of the Kings on your TV or mobile device. Sitting to my left is Old Chen, a seasoned veteran in the fishing community, and to my right is Mr. Lin, who is our special guest comntator for today!"
"Hello everyone."
As the clock struck half past eight, with the broadcast signal connected, Xia Xiaoxue seated at the center of the hosting desk began her opening monologue. Following her introduction, Old Chen and Lin Yang also took turns greeting the live stream audience.
After the greetings, Old Chen and Xia Xiaoxue took over the conversation, starting to talk about the Battle of the Kings, particularly the performance of dostic competitors in recent years.
While the two chatted, Lin Yang was gradually getting used to being fild by the cara; after all, this was an official broadcast, more formal compared to his usual casual livestreams on Salty Fish, and he needed a bit of ti to adjust.
As he adjusted, about five minutes passed, and he slowly got into the rhythm of hosting the competition, chiming in from ti to ti.
In the official live stream room, the number of online viewers was increasing, breaking ten thousand in less than ten minutes, showing the significant impact of this competition.
"The host of this competition is pretty good-looking, but who’s that young man next to her? I haven’t heard of him before. Can he fish?"
"That’s as if Xia Xiaoxue can fish."
"Seriously, you guys are clueless; Xiao Xue can fish, you know. Don’t you watch her Douyin? Besides, the one next to her is Master Lin, specialized in catching big ones."
The barrage of comnts flew rapidly, all discussing this year’s competition and the three hosts.
Old Chen was an old-tir in the fishing world, and those who often followed fishing competitions were familiar with him. Xia Xiaoxue had also been a fishing host for so ti, only Lin Yang was unaware of it.
Watching the barrage of comnts fervently flying across the screen, with the competition not yet truly started, most of the discussion, to his surprise, centered around Lin Yang. He found it a bit embarrassing; he hadn’t expected to be recognized by so many people just by making a guest appearance.
However, he just smiled and didn’t say much, rembering his role. He was just a comntator and didn’t need to do much; everything was under the control of Xia Xiaoxue and Old Chen.
Ti quickly approached nine o’clock, and this year’s dostic Battle of the Kings officially began!
Thirty-six competitors, following the old rules, began by selecting their fishing spots. A vast area on Qiandao Lake was specifically demarcated as the fishing zone for the competition. This zone had a complex terrain with deep pools, shoals, rocky shores, woods, grasslands, small bridges, and inlets and outlets. The fishing environnts were also numbered from 1 to 54.
The 36 contestants selected their fishing spots according to their points ranking. Naturally, players with higher points had the advantage. Wang Feng ranked 34th, aning he was the third to last in choosing his fishing spot. By the ti it was his turn, only the less desirable spots were left.
However, it was hard to say for sure. The fishing area was vast, and of the 54 spots marked out, each had its unique features. No one could definitively say that a particular spot wouldn’t yield any fish.
Wang Feng, who was placed further back, didn’t care because there were 54 spots in total and his rank was 34th, so the difference wasn’t significant.
Soon, the 36 anglers began selecting their locations, and when it was Wang Feng’s turn, he chose a steep slope.
The Battle of the Kings mainly calculated total weight, so the target fish were clear; one couldn’t fish for small fish or too many different types. The water flow also couldn’t be too strong, so his goal was focused - to catch catfish. Indeed, this was the preferred approach for most contestants, as it was a more reliable tactic.
After all participants had chosen their spots, speedboats transported them to their respective positions. What followed was the ti to prepare bait mixtures.
Lin Yang was once again impressed by the grandeur.
When he made bait mixtures, he would use at most a small basin, but the competitors participating in the contest were using large basins as one would for laundry, or those deep buckets.
The bait mixture seed to flow like it was free, with bags of it being poured in, usually starting at ten bags, with so even mixing up to a hundred pounds of bait, as they still needed to refill their fishing spots.
Half an hour later, after the bait mixture was ready, they began to scatter it across their fishing spots.
Wang Feng also started to set his float near the baited area following Lin Yang’s instructions, using a scattering cannon, and waiting for the catfish to bite the floating hook.
Fishing was quite dull in the beginning, apart from the initial excitent of preparing and scattering the bait mixtures that stirred up the watching audience, there wasn’t much else happening for the rest of the ti.
