Arriving before his apartnt ho, Amon gazed at it silently.
It was close to morning now, with no one roaming the streets.
The fading moonlight parted through the gaps of the wispy white clouds, embracing the land below with its light.
Usually, even though it would be this late into the night, most people would still be roaming in the streets and such.
However, before the event in the morning, most of the people were observing the day in silence, as a form of gift and rembrance to the people.
To honor their souls.
Amon stood alone on the elevated tal corridor, the cold seeping through his clothes but he remained unaffected.
He let out a sharp exhale as he finally arrived before his door, halting his steps.
He was finally ho, after 4 days of his disappearance.
For a mont, his gaze drifted to his right, where the apartnt of Elizabeth and Alice was situated right next to them.
Since a vacation had been given, Amon was sure that they were probably back at their manor, leaving the apartnt empty.
The faint sounds of grasshoppers rubbing their legs could be heard in the silent breeze, an invitation to their prey into their nest.
Contemplating silent over his thoughts for a second, Amon pushed them back with another exhale.
It was now or never. He couldn't just stand here and avoid her inside for a century.
The only reason Amon didn't want to face Katherine was because of her condition.
Seeing Alia had put him out of his trance, reminding him that the incident had affected others as well.
One of them was Katherine, who was the first to co to his mind as she would have not suffered from Arthur's disappearance.
But just like Alia, soone close to her had also disappeared without any news or whereabouts.
And seeing Alia, who was worried so much for Arthur reminded him of Katherine's condition.
Because he would be dumb to notice the large amount of care and sisterly love that Katherine had for Amon.
It was obvious that she cared for nobody other than him. Nobody more than him. Not even Lily.
And it ward Amon's heart as well, filling a large portion of the gap that had been left in his heart after being separated from his sister.
At the sa ti, it made him despise and loathe the previous Amon even more for not reciprocating Katherine's love and care.
Who would be so dumb and indifferent to do that?
But that wasn't the only thing. The more he heard from Alia and others about the previous Amon, the more he lost respect and increased his hate for him.
Just what kind of a prick did you have to be to misbehave and act like that?
Amon didn't know. But he was sure that if had any chance to et his past self in the future, then he would beat the shit out of him.
Seeing Katherine get more and more happier every day was sothing Amon appreciated from the bottom of his heart.
He was glad that just like her, he could also be the brother she always wanted, even if his relationship with her was built on a million lies and deceives.
He knew what he was doing was wrong, manipulating her into believe that he was still the sa Amon but now ever caring.
But... Amon didn't want to tell her that he was not her brother anymore, that he was another guy who had taken over her precious brother's body.
He knew it was a sin but...
If he could make himself and her happy at the sa ti by continuously committing this sin...
Then he was ready to be a sinner for life.
Nevertheless, Amon still prayed that one day, one day at least that he would have the courage to tell her about this.
It was selfish but... Just for so ti...
Amon longed for a sister.
He didn't want Katherine to hate him, that was the last thing he wanted.
Pushing back his thoughts with a pained expression, Amon shook his head in a dismissive expression to shake off any remaining thoughts.
He focused on the doorknob in front of him.
Taking in another deep breath, Amon moved forward, grabbing the doorknob.
Twist. Creak...
Twisting the doorknob, he slowly opened the door, finding himself in front of a shroud of darkness.
The lights had been turned off and the blinds had been pulled down so naturally, there was no other light source in the apartnt.
Amon had expected it to be like that. No one in their sane mind would still be awake at this ti of night.
Closing the door lightly behind him to mitigate any noise that could wake up Katherine or Lily, he took off his shoes.
Then, he stored his cloak, mask and cane inside his storage, revealing back his dirty
appearance.
His hair and clothes were still covered in dried blood but fortunately, his face was perfectly
clean.
He was imnsely grateful to Alia for not only taking care of him but for washing his face. Lightly walking on the wooden floor to avoid any creaks, Amon arrived in the living room. And his eyes widened as his eyes finally landed on the two figures in front of him, sprawled out on the sofa.
The first concerning thought that imdiately crossed his mind was why weren't they in bed?
But the painful reason was obvious to him. A sharp piercing pain shot through his heart as he realized just how worse it had been for them.
Arriving in front of the sofa, he saw Lily's peaceful figure sleeping on the sofa, covered in
blankets.
But the tired expression and puffy eyes on her face dealt a sharp blow to Amon, making him realize just how much the poor child had cried after him.
Her small hands tightly clung to her blanket as if she was afraid of sothing.
But then, Amon's eyes moved to the figure beside her, his gaze landing on her face.
And that was the final nail in the coffin for him as he felt his chest constrict with pain, his lungs being knocked out of breath montarily.
