As Killian flew back to the north before Alia could find that he was not there, he could not stop thinking about Anne. He had found the woman to be stranged, but never had he placed her to be raised by witches. It was odd how she ended up as Queen if she was raised by witches. How exactly had she married the King with no background?

It was good news that Alia was still just a normal human. If her mother was a witch, it would have been harder to turn her into a demon. Still, he had to think about how Alia would take learning about her mother potentially being alive. He half expected her to be ecstatic to have her mother back, but he also expected that she would be angry.

Killian had no intention of keeping what he now knew about Anne to himself. Alia had already asked Samuel to see what happened to her mother’s soul so he would find out about Anne and then alert Lucifer who would look to punish the witches for stealing. Since he was taking Alia back to see Sybil, he knew the witch would not be able to keep her mouth shut about Anne.

Killian quietly landed in the courtyard. His wings disappeared from behind him the mont his feet touched the ground. "Miss ?" He asked.

Alastor closed the book he was reading. "No, I will miss the peace I got to enjoy when you were not here. Why do you look so...gloomy?" He asked after finding the right word. "Is there trouble?"

"There is always trouble here in the north. Where is my wife?" Killian questioned. He could not sense her nearby.

"I am not her keeper," Alastor reminded Killian. "She’s in the library," he answered. Alastor was surprised to hear that Alia had buried herself in books about demons and other wonders of the world. He had to give her credit for putting her mind to it and studying for hours. She was doing more than her husband.

"Has anyone troubled her today?" Killian inquired as he started to walk toward the library.

"The castle has been oddly quiet despite how many demons are staying here. No one has made an attempt to bother the Queen-"

"How do you know all of this? I thought you said you weren’t her keeper?" Killian teased.

Alastor frowned. He most definitely was not her keeper, but she was still the woman Killian picked to have his offspring. He could not help but keep an eye on her. "It is not easy to avoid hearing about the Queen. All eyes are on her to see how she intends to prove herself. A spy has returned and it seems her grandmother has taken on the role of priest. I have a bad feeling about that. She holds the secrets to how to wound us."

"Margaret Blackwell is a woman who scares others, but I am not afraid of whatever she is planning. As long as Alia is safe, Margaret will not be looking to harm us. The sa cannot be said for her other relatives. Any word about Fraser?" Killian asked since the new king was more of the issue.

"He is just as we left him. A boy who does not realize the dangers that surround him. I must feed your wolves before they co into the castle looking for food. Do not cause any trouble, Killian. Would it hurt you to sit around and look at our history like your wife?" Alastor asked and then disappeared.

"Killian."

Killian reached the library just in ti to see Alia walking out with Gina and Edith. All with books in their hands.

Alia looked back inside the library before going close to Killian to whisper, "You did not warn the demon in there was that scary. Why are there so many eyes?" She poked his stomach.

Killian grabbed her finger as he laughed. "You know she can hear you from right here?"

"That," Alia paused and looked behind her. At this point, she would have to send soone else to the library. "I found a lot of books about demons and other incredible things. Things about priests, Gods of other realms like Lucifer, weapons, creatures like vampires-"

"Take a deep breath," Killian touched her shoulder to calm her. "I’m glad you found so much, but there is sothing I must speak to you about. It cannot wait."

Alia’s excitent died down as she noted how serious Killian was. "Okay. Edith, Gina. You two should rest and get sothing to eat. You’ve been in the library with for hours. I will co to you when I need your help again."

Edith and Gina bowed their heads before walking away.

"Can we talk about it here?" Alia asked since it was never safe to talk about sothing important outside of their room. Unless it wasn’t sothing the castle was already aware of.

"No," Killian held her hand and took her to their room. "You will want to sit down for this."

Alia walked to the bed to place the books down. "You’re starting to scare with this," she sat down. She nervously played with her fingers. This could not be about Fraser since Killan would have just told her right away. Perhaps Agramon did sothing?

"I visited a witch on the mountain to ask about you. When your back was hurting, it healed on its own. Lucifer wasn’t helpful in telling why such a thing would happen. You are human in our eyes. There is nothing aside from the fact you are a golden child. I found out that your mother Anne was raised by witches-"

"That’s impossible," Alia quickly spoke.

"As hard to believe as it is, I don’t think Sybil was lying. She is not one to carry on a lie for so long. She said her sisters heard a child crying and took the child to raise as their own. It is unclear how your mother ca to be Queen," said Killian.

"I know that she t Leonard first and they liked each other. Then my father saw her with Leonard and wanted her for himself. I guess it makes sense why I have never seen any of my mother’s relatives. She didn’t like to talk about her family, but to be raised by witches," Alia said, still finding it hard to believe.

Anyone caught going to witch doctors, as they were normally called in the Blackwell kingdom, would be burned alive in a fire. Such a punishnt was not done in years as everyone tried to stay clear of witches. If her mother being raised by witches were to be ever known, the kingdom would not love her the sa.

"Please have the witch not tell anyone about this. I don’t want my mother’s image ruined. Regardless, she loved her people and never did anything to hurt them," Alia softly spoke. She started to think back to the witch in the stories her mother told her. ’Was she trying to tell back then?’ She wondered.

"I will be taking you to see Sybil when the sun sets. Sybil spoke of the witches who raised your mother going back into the Blackwell castle to take her body. They wanted to take you too, but one of them dropped a spell on you, and it might be the reason you had trouble sleeping. Sybil is working on stopping the potion from affecting you. I was told that they perford so ritual to bring your mother back alive-"

"What?" Alia felt her stomach drop. "How- I an. What?" She asked again. Her mother’s body was well protected in a special place for all royalty. How could it have been taken? "This witch must have lied to you. We should go and make her tell us the truth," Alia stood up so he could fly them there or do whatever was needed to go to this witch. "Why are you just standing there? Must I truly believe this story?"

"Sybil said they were able to pull so of her soul out of the underworld into another body. I don’t know anything about the ritual, but stealing sothing from the underworld never goes right. Your mother has a liking for human flesh now. Just like so of the wandering souls in the underworld. I will get Lucifer’s permission to bring the rest of her soul from the underworld so her hunger for human flesh will end," Killian promised.

Alia didn’t hear much of what Killian said after there was sothing about her mother’s soul going into another body. The woman that she was mourning for two years was now alive again? Not only alive but with witches. "I’m sorry for my silence. I just need a mont to let this all sink in," she said.

"I know," Killian replied. It was already hard for him to fathom so it would be harder on Alia. It was a lot for her to process at once, but she needed to know. "Normally, your kind would like a hug in a mont like this. Should I?" He asked first as he was uncertain how to help her. Human emotions were still complicated.

Alia stared at Killian for a few seconds before walking toward him to rest her head on his chest. She was feeling a mix of happiness to have her mother still alive and confusion about the witches and everything else.
