Chapter 94: Chapter 94
Alia remained silent as she processed Leonard’s words. She always considered her father to be a fool but now, she saw that he was far more than that.
’How could he bring won into the castle to make my mother feel jealous but then turn around and get angry with her?’ Alia thought.
"It was not just . Any male guard she had around her, n in town she spoke with, or even the priest, he thought Anne must have liked one of them because she did not love him. Anne never wanted to marry your father and after you were born, you were her sole happiness so she paid attention to only you in the castle. I also think your father was jealous of that. It was foolish-"
"I don’t think foolish is the word to describe this situation. It’s preposterous that was why he hated . I honestly wish the old bastard was alive to say this was not the reason he disliked . Why on earth would he accuse my mother of cheating? Honestly, she should have," Alia said due to the fact her mother had to live with won taunting her for being able to sleep with the king.
"You have no idea how jealous your father was of any and everyone around your mother. He had almost everyone he was jealous of killed but he could not harm you as that would be the last straw for Anne," said Leonard.
Alia placed her hand on her forehead to calm down what she was thinking. "If he thought you were having an affair with my mother and was potentially my father, why didn’t he chase you away from the castle?"
Leonard thought about that in the past but then he considered that Richard was the sa man who married the woman his friend was in love with. "I believe he always wanted
to be jealous of the fact that no matter what, he had Anne. Years ago, I wanted to leave because I could bare to watch her marry my friend. Your father made arrangents for
to be the one to protect him. Instead of staying for him, I promised to watch over Anne."
"And look how that turned out. She was killed and I have a feeling you always know that but I had no one on my side to push for that to be investigated. As soone who loved my mother, you failed her. I don’t care about never being born so I wished you had never t and loved my mother. Then my father would not have taken notice of her and she would not have suffered. It’s petty," Alia had to admit. "But I am angry and you are standing before ."
"I understand. There’s also one other reason why your father disliked you, princess but it was never to be spoken of as witch doctors were exiled by the temple. While you were in your mother’s stomach, he sneaked off to check if he would have a great son to take his place as king but whatever was said pissed him off and he went to Anne telling her to get rid of the child in her stomach. I don’t know what was said to him," Leonard said before she could ask.
Leonard had not wanted to get involved with anything concerning witchcraft as sothing bad was certain to happen to anyone who got involved with it.
"Of course he went to a witch doctor just as he went to one recently to try to know the sex of Annabelle’s child. I suppose my mother would be the only other person to know what prophecy was given to my father. Can you do
a favor, Leonard? You kind of owe
it," Alia decided to guilt trip him.
"I owe your mother a favor but sure. What is it?"
"Can you please find my mother’s diaries? She had given
the ones each year before she married but she hid the ones after that. I doubt they were in her tower because I have searched for them many tis as a child and after she died, I searched the entire room. I hope there wasn’t the chance that soone else checked her tower after her death." Alia knew that in the wrong hands, whatever was in her mother’s diaries could shake up the entire castle.
"I will discreetly look for them. Please ignore Cedric while he is here. It is only a matter of ti before Fraser sends him away unless he plans to use his grandfather. Fraser has to start looking for people with power to back him up and the perfect person to use is his grandfather," said Leonard.
"Hmm. I hope they both die while trying to control each other. Fraser wants to be the sole person ruling and Cedric wants to control the throne. I bet it won’t be long before Cedric presents Fraser with choices for a wife. Girls from families he has connections with so the queen would be his puppet," Alia made assumptions about the future that she was sure would co true at so point.
"The only thing I am happy about with your union to the king of the north is the fact you will be away from this brewing ss. I know that you care about the people here but please, do not concern yourself with this castle as long as we have not found ourselves in war or hit rock bottom," Leonard advised her as he wanted her to find happiness in the north.
"I don’t plan to think about certain people present in the castle but I cannot simply forget about it so easily. No matter what, I am a Blackwell royal so this kingdom will always plague my mind. I am glad you stuck around in the castle, Leonard. You hate it but I enjoy your presence and calling you uncle," she grinned as she knew he wanted to say he was not her uncle.
"I thought you were angry with
a mont ago?"
"Am I not allowed to get over it? It still upsets
but there is nothing I can do to change the past and I have to consider the fact you must have been torn up about not being able to take her away from the castle. Honestly, I am surprised you never tried to kill my father," Alia chuckled.
Leonard forced a smile then said, "Excuse . There is sothing I need to check on and I have been away for too long. Have a good day princess," he bowed then walked away from her.
Alia stared at the back of Leonard’s body as he left with suspicion. "He most definitely tried to kill my father but how did soone as skilled as him and close to my father fail?" She wondered. Alia would bet her tiara on Leonard being able to kill her father so this was surprising.
"Princess," Cyrus stepped into the doorway. "You are going to be late for breakfast."
"Grandmother says that royalty is never late. Everyone else just shows up too early. I learned so interesting things I will share with you later. I wish to know what you know about witch doctors," said Alia.
"I know that regular people like you should stay away from them. It’s bad enough you sotis pray to the Gods for things to happen here."
"First of all, the Gods never answer my prayers and now that I am marrying a demon, they certainly will not answer . Secondly, I don’t intend to use witch doctors’ services, I want to find out information about sothing my father was told many years ago. However, if I am caught doing it there, the temple and people will be on my ass, so..." Alia trialed off and smiled innocently.
"I will take care of it," Cyrus answered as he did not want Alia anywhere near those people.
"Wonderful. I will owe you a huge favor like always so ask
for anything your heart desires at any point in ti. Today, I will try to find news about slaves being freed so that I can find the woman you were searching for." Alia could not wait to see Cyrus and this mysterious woman being reconnected.
"Thank you. Once again, you are late. You must have Gina avoiding the head maid because she can’t answer where you’ve run off to," said Cyrus.
"Then I should hurry to save her poor soul. I feel like I have hardy seen Gina these days. Later on in the day the three of us need to sit down anss enjoy our candy. I can’t believe that brute set them on fire. I could just," Alia balled up right fist insinuating that she wanted to punch him.
She continued to say, "I will give him the silent treatnt until he magically makes my candy reappear. I bet there has never been soone bold enough to ignore him. I don’t care what hell he crawled out of. I will make him experience my version."
Cyrus could not wait to see this but first he had to clarify one thing. "We don’t crawl out of the underworld. We simply walk out."
