Chapter 60: Chapter 60

Alia could not understand how Margaret could place her as the person behind her father’s death when there wasn’t any evidence. Did Killian and Margaret have a conversation?

If there was a possibility Margaret had soone watching her, Cyrus would have noticed them and disposed of the person. He always did when her father had soone watching her. Margaret was right when she said she would always know what is happening inside the castle.

Alia decided not to comnt on her grandmother’s words. She had been scared for her grandmother to find out what she had done but her father’s death was easily accepted.

"The throne room will be in chaos. Everyone will look to throw soone else into the fire. Alia, you may not like it but use Killian’s interest in you to get what you want to say heard. Your father is no longer here so now is the ti for you to shine as one of the two Blackwell royals present in the castle. You will be the one to bring peace back into this castle," said Margaret.

"We should have been more prepared even before the day Killian’s n killed all the guards around ."

"I know," Margaret patted Alia’s hand once again. "I am also at fault. I should have returned to the castle and knocked so sense into your father."

"No one is to bla but my father. Regardless of if you knocked so sense into him, it was he who had the final say in creating good plans to fight against the north. I would love to know what his bright idea was," Alia’s words died down when she spotted Killian leaning up against a pillar near the throne room.

"He must be waiting for you. Alia, he’s not a bad man when he’s not on the battlefield. He’s much better than the list of n your father had as candidates for you. Ultimately it is your decision and I stand by what you want. It’s unfortunate we’re in a predicant that if we can’t find another way to create a truce with the north, you would have to marry him but don’t worry, grandmother can always sneak you far away."

Alia smiled, happy to hear her grandmother would help her run away if she wanted to. After Margaret had been suggesting she consider marrying Killian before he stord the castle, she was now offering to help her escape. "Thank you grandmother but there is no need. I am going to do what’s best for the people."

"I will head inside the throne room first to see what those blabbering fools are up to. Please refrain from getting into an argunt with the king of the north."

"I won’t," Alia promised but she could not guarantee she could keep that promise. Alia watched her grandmother safely pass Killian and enter the throne room. "Why did you have to announce that option at breakfast?" She approached Killian.

The edges of Killian’s lips curled. "I admire how you do not address

as king while I always call you princess. You’re the only one in this entire castle bold enough to speak to

as if I am a regular man. Funny how the princess is the one with the biggest set of balls."

"There is no possible way I have captured your attention to this degree. I threw a shoe at you. Are you into that kind of thing? Is the king of the north a pervert?" Alia couldn’t stop herself from asking.

"Technically, that would not make

a pervert, it would make

have a kink. It is the fire in you that has captured my attention. It is not every day I co across a princess with this much determination in her. Well, a princess that is not from a tribe. Have you thought about my proposal? What is your answer?" Killian stood up straight with his hands behind his back. "I will be a good husband to you."

"How on earth do you know? Can you see into the future?" Alia sarcastically replied.

"As your grandmother said, I am not a bad man when I am off the battlefield and I am not angered by the treatnt of my people. You desire a throne and I have one without a queen," said Killian.

"Honestly, it feels like you are just interested in

at this mont, and then say six months from now you’ll grow bored of

and find interest in another woman. That’s not so convincing for

to marry you. Isn’t there anything else that can make you create a truce with us and leave? I told you, I have dread of becoming the queen here," said Alia. "Besides myself, I don’t see anyone else fit to sit on the throne."

"Make them regret not choosing you. We can always send our second child to be ruler one day."

’Isn’t he thinking too far ahead when I have not said yes?’ Alia thought.

However, she would love to see everyone who doubted her turn around and beg for her to return. Fraser would no doubt run this castle in the ground. The only reason she did not like this idea was that the people would have to suffer. Unless she offered aid to them from the north.

Alia was starting to see the many reasons why she should marry Killian Bune but she was scared. Was everyone else this scared when they thought about marrying a man they did not know?

"The fact that you are attracted to

should influence your decision. Hopefully, you are not the type to be in denial. Are you?" Killian peered down at Alia.

"What attraction?" Alia looked up at him confused. He was certainly an attractive man like he was crafted by the Gods themselves and then sent down to this world. There was definitely a fluttering feeling in her stomach when she heard his voice but there was no attraction there. This was her enemy after all. She would never ever be attracted to her enemy.

"So you are the type to be in denial. I notice a lot of princess things. Luckily, I am a patient man when it cos to monts like this. Co, we can’t keep them waiting for much longer. Besides your grandmother, is there anyone else on your side?" Killian questioned due to the sole fact he wanted to know what life was like for her in the castle. Did she have to fight against everyone on her own?

"There is but I suppose you have him locked up with all the other good fighters. Please do not take my words the wrong way but you are strange Killian Bune. Why not just take what you want? This castle or ? Why are you being kind enough to ask for my response to marrying you? You are nowhere near what little I’ve heard about you and I know I shouldn’t judge from rumors but still," Alia couldn’t stop herself.

"There is no mistake that I am a dangerous man and I would have destroyed this castle and kingdom if not for the fact you have captured my attention. I finally understand what others an when they say won can get in the way of war. To think I’ve fallen into this trap," Killain shook his head in disbelief.

He would have laughed if anyone told him he would beco interested in the Blackwell princess. A human of all things enticed him but not a demon. He had only felt this emotion towards one woman in the past.

Most of the won he entertained were to warm his bed. Demons rarely sought after soone because of romantic emotions. They were trying to quench their thirst for lust.

"I’m a lot more powerful than I thought. I made a man like you practically fall for

without doing anything. Shouldn’t I be able to conquer the world?" Alia turned to Cyrus who quietly walked behind her and Killian.

"You should," Cyrus agreed with her.

Alia rembered sothing. "I have one request, King Killian."

"Speak."

"Stop referring to Cyrus as a traitor. Even though he stayed with

that day he had his own reasons. At the end of the day, he is still a northerner. I value Cyru’s opinion on what I should and should not do. If there is no place for him in the north there is no place for . I’d rather kill myself than marry you if Cyrus will be mistreated," Alia said.

Once again Killian wondered what type of relationship Alia had with her guard to be this concerned about him. He could see now that it was nothing sexual however he couldn’t figure out how she won a northerners loyalty.

"I will see what I can but I cannot force everyone else to like him. Is that all? Everyone on the inside must think I’ve changed my mind. Walk with

inside," Killian offered his hand for her to take.

’This man is hard to understand,’ Alia thought as she placed her hand in his and entered the throne room.
