Chapter 49: [Bonus Chapter] Chapter 49
"The more you speak, the more I wish for that child in your stomach to be a girl. I wonder if you’ll repeat these sa words or perhaps curse your child for not being a boy. What a strange world we live in when people cross their fingers for a boy. It’s odd how a woman finds a girl to be useless. Tsk tsk," Alia shook her head. "Any longer and I’ll eat all the grapes."
"Please serve the food," Margaret said to the servants on the sidelines patiently waiting to start dinner.
"I wonder where you got your personality from, Alia. Your mother was never like this or maybe, I did not know Anne well," Richard considered the possibility.
"We both know the answer. I got my personality from having to deal with a father like you. I feel like I can move mountains due to the fact I’ve remained strong with everything you threw my way. Thank you for not spoiling . I would have been clueless about my reality had you liked . I hope the heir you picked will make you proud. I hope that you don’t run into a wall and finally realize I was the best choice to rule."
"Ha! Do you think I’ll crawl back to you? Bring you back to make you queen? A Blackwell woman has never taken the throne Alia and it won’t start with you. We could have worked together to find a king from so other land to make you queen but why should I reward you after your behavior?" Asked Richard.
"I’m bored with this conversation," Alia replied.
"You two should not carry on like this. Blackwells need each other. When we are divided like this, our enemies can knock us off our feet. You two need to start fixing your relationship," Margaret looked back and forth between her son and granddaughter.
After the loss of her mother, Alia needed her father.
"It is your granddaughter who has made things difficult. She inserted herself into my business with her mother and hates
for having mistresses. Why does everyone look to place the bla on ? There is plenty that Alia has done that warrants an apology. Regardless of what she feels, I am still the king and her father. She has to apologize for her rude behavior and then we can move on," Richard said, looking for Alia to do as proposed.
"Who places bla on you besides
and grandmother? You literally have the entire castle bowing down to your every word. I am your daughter. Instead of wishing for
to bow down to you shouldn’t you try to figure out why I dislike you? You do not know how to separate being a king and a father. I have no apology to give you and do not worry, I don’t want to hear one from you. Thank you," Alia said as the servants placed plates of food all over the table.
"I’m tired of this. I’m getting older by the day and I do not have the energy to waste arguing with my daughter. I made the best decision for both of us by sending you away to be married. Do not think of it as a bad thing. Your marriage will greatly help the kingdom."
"What are you getting in exchange for ?" Alia looked up at her father. "I want to know what I am worth in your eyes. What are you going to get from my future husband? I have the right to know."
"An alliance against Killian Bune."
"Ah yes, soone to aid you in this war you started against the north. It’s an interesting exchange. Your daughter for a new friend to help you win sothing you started and you are miserably losing. I suppose creating an alliance between two kingdoms ans you sold
for a good price. I can’t complain. Let’s eat," Alia picked up her knife and fork to start cutting into the at.
"I did not sell you, Alia. I simply carried out your duty as a princess. You’ve lived a life of luxury and now it is your ti to repay a favor to your kingdom. You should feel good to be able to aid your people in so way. I am certain you will find your new ho to be wonderful. Their castle is almost as grand as our own and you will continue to be treated as royalty since you are marrying the second prince," said Richard.
He was hoping sothing could happen to the first prince and his wife so that Alia and her husband would beco the next king and queen. It would be nice for another Blackwell to sit on a throne in another kingdom. Alia would be the bridge to getting whatever he wanted from that kingdom.
’I’m surprised he didn’t pick the fourth prince to make sure I am nowhere near to sitting on a throne in another land,’ Alia thought.
"Is it official yet?" Margaret asked as she hoped to stop it from happening. She did not want Alia far away on foreign soil.
"The prince and so of their officials will visit in a week’s ti to make it official. Once our agreents have been signed, Alia will leave with them to get to know her new ho better until it is ti for the wedding. We will have two weddings. One in our kingdom and one in their kingdom. The one here will definitely be better," Richard said with confidence as he was not going to let anyone have sothing grander than him.
"I will send an invitation for you to return ho when the baby is born. I’m sure you’ll be excited to see your new sibling. It’s a sha your mother didn’t give you-"
"You!" Margaret smacked her hand against the table to cut off Annabelle. "Watch how you speak. Matter of fact, get up and leave this table. This is dinner for royals, not royals plus guests. Get out of my sight."
