Chapter 46: Chapter 46
"Princess, you called for ?" Cyrus questioned as he entered Alia’s bedroom. After news of her engagent, he was expecting her to be alone for a little while longer. When he received the ssage that Alia wished to speak to him instead of Gina, Cyrus was surprised. Gina would be better at comforting her.
"Close the door quickly Cyrus. We have a lot to discuss," said Alia.
"Do you want
to go around and figure out who it might be?"
"No. It won’t be long before my father or one of his underlings tell
about it. I have thought this over since returning to my room and I have not been able to talk myself out of it. I am going to kill the king," Alia said then waited for Cyrus’s response.
"Co again?" Cyrus was certain he heard it wrong. He had always joked about Alia killing her father but to hear her say it was odd especially when it didn’t feel like she was joking. "You cannot kill the king, princess."
"Not on my own. You are the only person I have to help , Cyrus."
"Princess," Cyrus sighed. He knew her emotions must be getting to her and driving her to these rash decisions. "I know that you are upset and you must not be thinking straight but you cannot kill your father."
"I can and I will. I will not leave the castle in his hands, Cyrus. How many wars must we allow to happen because of his ego? Do you know how many of his corrupt friends he will put in high positions if he remains king? The people will soon be drained of everything they have. They have already lost many of their sons who went and fought in the north while my father sits around and drinks. If you don’t help , I will find a way on my own."
Alia knew he could not allow her to carry out a plan like this on her own. Cyrus agreed soone should kill the Blackwell but he did not want it to be Alia. She could be killed if anyone were to find you she killed the king. A royal would not be saved from punishnt.
"My father’s death will prolong my engagent. Regardless of whatever deal they have created with the man they chose, I will not agree to it. I must quickly find a husband here and get married before anyone can stop it. It wouldn’t be hard to find a suitor because of how many families want their son in the castle. Let’s talk about how to execute him. I am aware the north specializes in poisons that are hard to detect. Many of them make their way to our black market."
"Will you make Killian Bune a suspect? If they think the north has soone on the inside, all fingers will point to , princess. I am the only northerner here," said Cyrus.
Alia smiled because that was not the truth. "Have you forgotten my father celebrating capturing so of Killian’s n? There are more northerners in the dungeon. We need to find a way to release them the sa day we poison my father. We’ll need a distraction to get so guards away from the cells and away from my father’s tower."
Alia moved to the window where her mother’s tower remained untouched. "My mother is going to help us. Everything she ever owned is trapped in that tower. I will release her from being chained to the castle even in her death."
"Are you going to destroy it?" Cyrus found this surprising considering how much Alia had been fighting to gain entry into the tower and be able to clean it up. No one would suspect Alia was the one who destroyed her mother’s tower.
"I’m going to burn it to the ground. It will spark outrage in the people and they might even point fingers at Annabelle. It is well known how much she hated my mother and with the king dead, everyone knows her son might have a shot of being king. I want everyone around my father to point fingers at each other after his death."
"I will leave clues to point to the culprit as soone close to my father. They’ll reveal a lot of their dirty secrets when trying to fra soone else. To cleanse this castle, we must first have chaos. I can only hope news of my father’s death would make Killian see an end to this war and return to the north. I hope my father is all that he was coming for," Alia muttered.
Creating chaos in the castle would provide an opportunity to strike. Luckily, Margaret was now in the castle and would be able to reason with the king of the north.
"You need to search for a poison fast but you must be careful. You will need to cover your face so no one can identify you. I know that I am asking a lot from you but don’t have anyone else who can help. If this plan backfires, I will make sure you are able to leave this castle unhard," Alia promised Cyrus. She was not afraid of dying but she was not going to let Cyrus be killed alongside her.
"Everything will go as you wish, princess. I will see to it that your plan succeeds," there was a high amount of confidence in the way Cyrus spoke.
He had an advantage that not even Alia knew about. If the king were to know about it he would not keep northerners in his castle. Many people from the north had special blood that made them different from regular humans. Just the thought of killing a king excited a side in Cyrus that he kept suppressed for many years.
Cyrus chose to live as a farr just as he told Alia because he no longer wanted to give in to his natural thirst for blood. After Alia’s request, he could no longer keep the chain around what he truly was.
