Chapter 296: Chapter 296
Margaret knew her family’s history and knew not to listen to the words of witches who liked to trick others. Then there was Anne, who should be dead. These witches had done the unthinkable by bringing back the dead. The dead was ant to stay dead for a reason. Now Anne was walking around in a body that did not belong to her. The castle needed the priests now more than ever.
Margaret hoped that the other priests not in the castle were already planning an attack. It had to be their biggest one yet since so many demons were roaming the kingdom. The most important targets were Anne, Killian, and the devil’s wife. Alia would be taken to be made pure again and fed dicine to get rid of any children she might be carrying but was not aware of.
Margaret decided to be silent. Nothing more had to be said from her end to Anne or these witches.
Anne walked away from where Margaret stood, leaving Cordelia and Ramona confused.
"Anne! Where are you going? We are not finished with the woman yet," Ramona said, following Anne to a corner of the throne room where no one stood. "Don’t tell
that little conversation has satisfied you."
"It hasn’t. I feel the need to feed, and if I start now, Alia will return and find
trying to eat every human here. I do not want my daughter to see
like that, so I will stand here for a mont. The further away I am from them, the less I think about eating," Anne said.
"The one ti there is soone in front of you who you should eat, you can’t. We will stand here with you until the urge passes. We should have gotten you a quick al before coming here. We passed a few farrs when-"
"I don’t want to eat any more of my people. We must get the rest of my soul out of the underworld so this stops, or you must kill
after I have t with Alia. The extra ti you have given
in this world is enough. I do not want to make life difficult for you two. I must sit," Anne said, touching her chest where there was pain.
She sat down on the floor, not caring how she would look to others. She was not the queen right now, so there was no need for her to stand around looking poised all the ti.
"We are your mothers. You’re supposed to make life difficult for us, and we will not let you die again, so do not ntion it. There are many demons here that are on your daughter’s side. We can get soone to find your soul for you, and then you will be back to normal. There is a chance they might try to eat your soul, but we should be positive. Rest your head on my leg and sleep. We will wake you when your daughter is here," said Ramona.
"Isn’t the floor cold, Anne? We should find you a chair to sit in. No matter what you look like now, you are still a queen. The throne is free. You should sit there," Cordelia suggested. She peered down at Anne leaning against Ramona’s foot.
"I am better down here. I do not have the strength to move. I just need to close my eyes for a mont."
While Ramona stood still for Anne to rest, Cordelia looked in the direction of where Margaret stood, now surrounded by n, and Sybil, who still stood there for so reason. The old woman needed to be punished right now.
Cordelia didn’t see why Anne was holding back now that it was revealed her daughter knew what her grandmother did. Anne could kill the old woman, and not have to worry about her daughter. If killing the old woman upset Alia, then Cordelia would take Anne ho. Alia should be on her mother’s side since she was killed for simply being raised by witches.
"Why is Sybil still over there? I told you we should have left her behind. I am going to kill that old woman-"
"Why kill her? She’s so old that she is awaiting death at any mont. She and that group of n around her would be better suited as frogs. Those little creatures are annoying to catch. Why run around the swamps trying to get them when there are many people we can change?" Ramona smiled.
"Sister, you always manage to impress . I am not only in need of frogs. There are other animals. Anne, point out all the people who have treated you poorly in the past. Your mothers will take ho pets for you to play with and creatures for us to create potions with," Cordelia said, already having a few animals in mind.
"Do as you wish," said Anne. She ignored the fact that they continued to speak as if she were a young child. After many years apart since she lived in the castle, they were making up for what they missed and viewed her as a child.
While the throne room was full of chatter about Anne and her death, Alia stood at the gates with Lilith to her right and Sadie to her left. Gina stood behind Alia, with Edith by her side as a guard.
"What is with the water?" Alia questioned as a large body of water was seen going through the nearby woods. There was no lake or river that could have caused so much water to be seen from this distance.
"It is that demon who loves to control the sea. She is going back to the sea, and she has this annoying habit of pulling water from all around her and flooding the land. I cannot believe you wanted her to co down to this castle. She is better off where she is now. Can I ask you sothing?" Sadie asked, turning to face Alia.
"You just did," Lilith snorted.
"Then can I ask another?" Sadie asked again, causing Lilith to laugh.
"You can," Alia answered so the two would stop.
"I asked around about you, and I was told that there was another man who loved you. I don’t see how you have gotten two n to fall for you, but since I cannot steal the king away from you, where is this other man?"
Alia was puzzled by Sadie’s question. The only man around her who loved her was Killian. If there were any other man to love her, she would not have noticed it. "Wait," Alia said, suddenly knowing who Sadie might be speaking about. "I hope the man you an is not Cyrus."
"It is!"
Alia could not believe there was still sothing being said about Cyrus loving her. Was Cyrus leaving her side to find Jahi not enough to show that it was Jahi he loved, not her?
"Cyrus does not love
that way. He has always been and will always be a friend. Unfortunately, there is soone he loves, and I assu that he must already be going back into the underworld with her right now, so you cannot et him. Still, you cannot find love for yourself by chasing after the n who love
or anyone else. Focus on yourself first, Sadie. Love will co to you when you least expect it," Alia said.
"Perhaps the person you are ant to love and will not die by your touch has been around you for a long ti, but you’ve been looking in the wrong place and have not noticed them. I will help you find love when this is all over. Now, can we please go back to making sure none of the demons aren’t secretly eating my people?" Alia questioned, turning her attention back to the town.
It was a hard task to get the people to stop screaming and running around, trampling each other as they tried to get out of town. Alia did not know how Lilith got the demons to speak in unison and tell the people to co to the castle if they wanted to live. She concluded that being the queen of the underworld gave Lilith a few talents of her own, like controlling demons.
"Have them search the other villages and start directing the people here. There are rebels all over the woods that cause trouble for the people. The demons can kill them. It is easy to tell the rebels from anyone else. Also, have them find all the priests still on this land and kill them. Reassure them that there will be more to eat when I am finished judging the people in the castle," Alia said, leaving Lilith to communicate with the demons.
Alia could speak with the demons on the north mountain since they spoke her language, but she discovered that demons who spent many years in the underworld spoke a language she could not understand. Lilith was the bridge between her and those demons. One day, Alia wanted to learn the language since Killian also spoke it.
