Chapter 286: Chapter 286
Edith kept her head low, both disappointed and angered by her actions. She had gotten ahead of herself and almost went against what Alia wanted. If Killian had not shown up, she would have taken Margaret’s life.
Now that Edith had sowhat cald down, she noticed how easily Margaret was accepting death.
"Kill
and get it over with," Margaret said to Killian. She knew he was itching to do it just as much as Alia’s guard wanted to do it.
Killian smiled, entertained by her ordering him around. It was not fun to kill soone who desperately wanted to die. "Not yet," he answered, turning to face Alia. "Are you alright?" He asked.
"Demons are walking around not affected by holy water and I am affected by it. Twice," Alia held up two fingers. What had she done to deserve this? "It should be thrown at you not . At least pretend like you are hurt so I am not hurting alone."
"Yes yes," Killian said, picking up Alia. She was damped and he wanted to dry her.
Alia rested her head on Killian’s chest. Her hands no longer ached and the warmth of his body felt good on her cold skin. She ignored the terrible scent of blood that lingered on him. "Who did you kill?"
"The n your cousin hired. They put up a good fight. It was entertaining while it lasted. Your cousin will soon be here, acting like he had not hired n to kill , and wanting
to be imprisoned. Did you get the information you needed from your grandmother?" He asked as he took her out onto the balcony.
"The priests were the ones to kill my mother after they found out she was raised by witches. They wanted to cleanse her but she would not go through with it. I have cried on my grandmother’s shoulders not knowing she knew the answer to my mother’s death all this ti. I cannot just throw away the love that I have for my grandmother though I hate what she has done," Alia said, looking at Margaret through the open balcony door.
Her grandmother’s knowledge of her mother’s death had not yet settled in. Alia still rembered the good mories she had with Margaret. Margaret was her ray of sunshine when it ca to the family for the last few years.
Alia hated that the good mories were making it hard for her to hate Margaret as much as she wanted. Still, she could let those involved in her mother’s death get away.
"The priests I can easily order to be killed and watch it happen, but when it cos to my grandmother, I cannot. I want to let her see demons roaming this kingdom. The world becoming what she never wanted, and when it cos ti for her to die, please do it for ," Alia requested. The fond mories would not save Margaret. "Please think of a way to torture her similar to the way the priest would cleanse others."
Killian knew it could not have been an easy decision for Alia to let him kill her grandmother when it was not so long ago that Alia warned him not to hurt her. "I will take care of her. The old woman is sly. We mustn’t let her leave and hide."
"The only place grandmother would run to now is her ho, where there would be many weapons to fight against demons. A long ti before we were married, I saw carts going out into the trees near her ho. Back then, I thought she might have been hiding you, but I am certain she must have been making weapons. Send demons to destroy her ho right now," said Alia.
Alia poked at Killian’s chest with one of her fingers. "When do you have to leave?"
"Are you trying to act cute to get
to stay? I am leaving in a few minutes to start the plan early since your cousin and grandmother have attacked," Killian replied.
’It is working.’ Killian sighed, looking up at the sky so Alia’s face would not tempt him to stay.
"That wasn’t my plan, but if it is working on you, I suppose I should say yes, that was my plan. That plan was for us to have sowhat of a peaceful breakfast before fights broke out in the castle. Nothing is going my way."
"That is how it always is with war. You find yourself having to change up your plans as ti passes. When we were in the north, you thought your grandmother would be on our side. She is what caused our plans to change, but now she has been taken care of and the n your cousin has hired are gone. Now you are back to what you had planned. Take control of the castle when Lilith cos with her demons," said Killian.
Alia did appreciate the fact that she did not have to be on the lookout for anyone Fraser had planned to kill her with. She could take on the castle guards with the demons, who would join her soon.
Alia looked out at the town. It was peaceful now, but soon there would be confusion and screaming. She would open the gates to let her people in, and as they lined up, she would do a purge. Picking out the rotten people who have been hurting the kingdom for years. The demons would get to feed on those people while the innocent remained untouched.
Alia narrowed her eyes when she saw sothing moving in the sky. It was too big to be a bird and the only other thing she could think of was a...
"Demon," Alia said, pointing to the sky to alert Killian.
Killian did not have to look up to know who it was. He placed Alia on the floor and pushed her behind her. "Today is not the day to pick a fight with ."
Agramon landed safely on the balcony and got rid of his wings. "I am not here to fight you. The devil has made it clear that he will wipe out the existence of anyone who sses up his plans. I am not here for you. I am here for the princess."
"Queen-"
"Why?" Alia asked, grabbing Killian’s hands before he could get his hands on Agramon for still referring to her as a princess. As far as she was concerned, Agramon still did not like her, and he had not answered to her offer.
"You said that I am to be a part of so court. Why wasn’t I invited to this... place?" Agramon asked, looking around the small castle with disgust. It reeked of humans.
"You are mistaken if you thought I could read minds. I thought you had not accepted the offer since you wanted to be king and being a part of the court did not an you had to co here. Isn’t there so role given to you by Lucifer that you have to play today? Unless," Alia covered her mouth to hide her smile. "Lucifer did not involve you in his plans."
"When it cos to war, Agramon is useless," Killian said, joining in the fun.
"I am a demon who fights with words. I make use of my enemy’s fears," Agramon defended himself.
"So I have been told, but you have never tried to make use of my fears to harm , and if you did, it was not powerful enough for
to notice. You are not as powerful as you think you are," said Alia.
If not for Killian standing in the middle of them, Agramon would have flung Alia off the balcony and enjoyed watching her fall. Her fears were foolish. What was he to get out of her fearing she would not be a good queen? Then the fear of losing Killian started to appear. The second fear was useful, but it ant he sohow had to get rid of Killian.
There was one other ti he sensed her being afraid, but he learned that it was because of the demon in the library. He couldn’t judge her when it ca to the demon in the library since he hated to see the weird-looking demon and avoided it if he could.
Why couldn’t the princess have other fears he could make use of like her maid and guards did? Her confidence that she would be a good queen overshadowed her fear of not being a good queen. It was too hard for him to find an opening to get inside her head.
Alia squinted her eyes to get a better look at a burn mark around Agramon’s neck. "Did soone hurt you? Why hasn’t it healed?"
"Do not touch ," Agramon said before Alia had the idea of trying to see what was wrong with him.
Killian also noticed the mark on Agramon. The only person who could inflict pain on Agramon and have it not heal was Lucifer.
