Chapter 21: Chapter 21

"You are not a man of the north," Cyrus thought about Killian’s words in the privacy of the room Alia gave to him. His room was near the servant quarters but not too far away from Alia’s room.

"I can’t go back to the north when I find her," he muttered thinking of where he could go when he found the person he was looking for. He didn’t belong in the Blackwell kingdom and now he did not belong in the north. Pledging his loyalty to Alia gave up his chance to ever return ho.

Cyrus sighed pulling his damaged clothes over his head to get rid of them. The journey to a village was so unexpected that he wasn’t able to return to his room to put on his armor. There wasn’t a chance in this world that any of the Blackwell guards would have given him armor to wear.

His shirt was completely torn apart in the shoulder area thanks to the wolves. With his shirt off, Cyrus stared into his mirror at the dry blood marks but no scars on his body. The bite marks from the wolves already healed but they took longer than normal because of what the wolves truly were.

"I need to avoid those two in the future," he said, rubbing his hand against his smooth skin. He felt that Killian made a promise to the wolves that they would in fact co across Cyrus to eat him. "It’s dangerous for them to keep the n they captured from the north."

Cyrus had listened to Alia’s conversation with her father in the throne room. The Blackwell kingdom like many others had no clue what the north contained. Killian Bune was not a man to be ssed with. Capturing so of Killian’s n today was only a small victory.

If Cyrus was the king, he would call back all of his n and try to enter a truce with Killian. Both sides had killed enough people from the other side where they should be tired of fighting by now. Though that would be impossible when it ca to Killian. The man enjoyed killing his enemies and no doubt dreamt of killing king Richard.

Cyrus dipped a piece of cloth into a bucket of water he brought from the river outside of the castle. He didn’t have the luxury of warm water or a tub like the royalty in the castle and he wasn’t allowed to bathe with the other servants. Cyrus didn’t mind anything he faced in the castle considering the other captured people from the north who beca slaves were treated much worse.

He twisted the cloth getting rid of so of the water before rubbing it against his skin where the blood was. He silently continued to clean himself until he caught sight of himself in the mirror.

"What a nuisance," he sighed, realizing his hair had changed to white and his eyes were now blood red. Cyrus ran his tongue against his fangs almost piercing it in the process.

If only the people in the Blackwell Kingdom knew the secrets hidden away in the north, they would beg Killian for rcy now.

The next day, Alia woke up early thanks to Gina once again. Alia went to sleep late in the morning which was becoming a habit. She found herself unable to sleep after her mother’s death. She kept telling everyone she was up reading books but that was far from the truth.

Alia tossed and turned each night unable to close her eyes. The only way for her to sleep would be to visit the castle doctor but didn’t want anyone to know her condition. She didn’t want it to spread around so that she was unable to sleep at night.

Alia walked around the castle inspecting what everyone was doing. Breakfast was long over but unlike yesterday, she ate it in her room to avoid speaking to her father and Annabelle.

Her father annoyed her once for the day already when a doctor was sent to her room to inspect for any signs of her not being pure. Alia had Cyrus chase the doctor away since she was not playing the ridiculous ga with her father questioning what happened when she t Killian.

"Today seems so boring."

"After the excitent, you had yesterday by eting Killian Bune, a boring day is the best thing for you. Word has spread around the castle of you running into Killian and surviving. So are saying he was enchanted by your beauty while others say Cyrus had protected you well. Well done Cyrus., you are becoming popular," said Gina.

"I did nothing to help the princess. Do not pay attention to the rumors," Crys replied.

"Still, use this to your advantage to gain more friends here," Gina advised him.

"I do not wish to lie just to gain friendship with people who ca off with their own judgnt of

before I had the chance to talk with them. As a northerner, I will not go out of my way to make friends with anyone from this kingdom. Besides the princess," he looked at the said woman.

"I don’t bla you," Alia replied, also disliking Cyrus’ use of rumors to gain friends. People should just naturally beco his friend. When those rumors fade away they’ll all see him as a northerner again and stop talking to Cyrus. "It’s not like he doesn’t have any friends. He has ."

"Why am I not included in his list of friends? I consider him my friend," Gina said. At first, she had been scared of him but once she spent ti around him, she saw he wasn’t so bad. It was just how mysterious he was that kept her wary.

"I consider you to be my friend too," Cyrus said to Gina so she wouldn’t feel left out. He also cared for her even if it wasn’t to the level he cared for Alia.

"Well look who I managed to run into," soone said as they approached the trio.

"It’s obvious you’ll run into

considering I live here, Fraser. What are you doing here?" Alia questioned her cousin.
