Chapter 175: Chapter 175
To Alia’s dismay, the day of her wedding ca faster than she would have liked. As Killian promised he did not stay with her in the night which ant she was unable to sleep and stayed awake for many hours thinking about her wedding and what would happen afterward. She was wonderful until she was left alone with her mind which thought of everything that could go wrong.
Alia was awakened early in the morning by Gina who ca with Edith to start prepping with the traditions from the Blackwell kingdom. Then they all needed to travel down to the border where the wedding would take place and right after, she would imdiately be crowned queen of the north.
"You don’t look happy, princess. I have not witnessed many weddings but shouldn’t the bride be happy? Not that I do not enjoy your sullen mood more," said Edith. She preferred seeing others sad instead of too happy. "Do you think there might be a fight from both sides?" She smiled.
"Edith, I feel you want a fight to happen so you can take part. I will task you with the job of preventing fights. I am happy but my nerves are getting the best of . I am close to getting what I always wanted. There’s a lot for
to think about aside from the wedding," Alia replied.
"Most brides feel more nervous than happy leading up to the wedding so you are fine. Once you put on your dress, get all dolled up and finally marry Killian, your nerves will fade away. I have the most experience dealing with weddings to know this. Instead of being nervous, you should be happy to see your grandmother soon," Gina said to take Alia’s mind away from the wedding ceremony.
"I am looking forward to seeing her today. We’ve been apart for too long. I hope she has arrived first so we can chat. Do you see her carriage?" Alia asked, looking out the window to try spotting her grandmother’s carriage amongst the many others as they finally arrived at the border.
Alia didn’t wait for soone to open her carriage door for her and did it herself as she was in a hurry to find her grandmother.
"What is her grandmother like? I have only heard stories of her tyrant father," Edith looked to Gina.
"Sotis you will forget that lady Margaret is royalty. She is different from the rest of Alia’s family. More fun to be around but make no mistake. She is always ready to kill anyone who tries to harm Alia. You will take a liking to her. She birthed king Richard but she is nothing like her son. Alia, wait for us!" Gina called behind Alia.
"The two of you are moving too slowly," Alia answered.
"Princess," Cyrus called to her. He was riding behind her carriage on a horse and quickly ca to her side when she left the carriage in a hurry. "There is still a lot of danger around."
"Cyrus, can you find my grandmother for ?"
Cyrus looked far behind Alia at soone watching them and said, "There is no need as she has already found you."
Alia turned in the direction Cyrus was fixated on, and just as he said, her grandmother watched them in the distance. Of course, her grandmother would be one of the first people here. Alia grabbed as much of her dress as she could and ran to where Margaret awaited her.
"Alia! Princesses do not just run around," Gina said as she ran behind Alia. "Wait-Ah! What are you doing, Edith?" She questioned, looking at her Edith had a tight grip on her shoulder.
"Stopping you from stopping the princess running to her grandmother. It is only running. You are acting like you have taken off her dress and run around naked. You need to relax," Edith said, releasing Gina’s shoulder right after.
"It is not only running. Alia gets judged a lot by her relatives and people of the Blackmail kingdom-"
"The princess must also be aware of all the eyes on her and still chose to run to her grandmother. She just admitted to us that she is nervous. Let her run to her grandmother who will comfort her instead of reminding her of silly rules. Your kind is just stupid," Edith spoke out loud.
Gina didn’t like Edith’s comnt but chose not to respond to it right now as it would ruin Alia’s day. So far, she didn’t know what to make of Edith, who loves to fight and make loud remarks about regular people who were not demons. Edith kept judging their rules and tradition when Alia was open to embracing the traditions demons had. It wasn’t fair and she was slowly reaching her end with the comnts from Edith.
anwhile, Alia reached Margaret and right away hugged her as tightly as she could.
"I have missed you so much, grandmother. This is way worse when than in the past when you weren’t in the Blackwell castle much. I am starting to consider secretly taking you away to the north with ," Alia said, her voice sounding muffled against Margaret’s clothes but Margaret understood every word.
Margaret patted Alia’s back, happy to have her precious granddaughter in her arms again. "I have missed you too, child. You have left
alone in that castle with people I hate seeing. I hope you have had a better ti than . You mustn’t cry now, Alia. It is your wedding day. Take a stand back so that I can get a good look at you."
Alia wiped her tears before standing back so Margaret could see that she was fine and no one had hurt her while she was in the north. "I am fine, grandmother. Killian has been keeping
safe from the mont I arrived."
"That is good to hear. I know I have helped push you into this union Alia and it might be late for
to be asking this but are you fine with this marriage?" Margaret asked.
Alia agreed that it was too late to be asking now but she replied, "I am."
