Chapter 130: Chapter 130
"Nervous?"
Alia found Killian’s question to be ridiculous when he was leading her to a large crowd of demons waiting to hear what their king had to say. Of course, she would be nervous. Everyone present could easily kill her. "Obviously. Wouldn’t you be if you were in my position?" She asked.
"You are doing a good job at not letting it show. Keep that up. Be the sa girl who threw the shoe and went against the king. Don’t show them fear or many of them will feed on that to ss with you. Many of them fed on humans’ fears to control them and later on eat their souls," said Killian.
"Good to know right after I said I was nervous. That’s the perfect thing to make
even more nervous. I’ll picture all of them as the n in court I had to deal with. Honestly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if you told
a few of them were demons. Maybe I had to deal with the awful people back ho because the world wanted to prepare
for this. You won’t leave
alone right?" Alia stopped right before they reached the front doors.
"No. I will be by your side. You are overthinking this too much," he ruffled her hair enjoying the sight of her glaring at him for ssing up her hard work. That was the side she needed to show the people. "Co, we cannot keep them waiting for much longer," he extended his hand out for her to take.
Alia held his hand without any complaints. She took a deep breath to get over her fears. First impressions were important and she would not ss this up.
The front doors opened when Killian and Alia got near. As they walked out, Alia could see people standing outside the gate talking, and when they noticed Killian coming their way they got happy.
"I have one question before we greet them. All of you follow the devil because he’s a powerful man right? The most powerful man in the underworld. So, for you to co up into this world and have demons follow you and respect you as a king you must be quite powerful. You spoke of levels so after the devil, what rank are you?" Alia looked at Killian. She wanted to ask this based on how excited the people looked to see Killian. Anyone would think he was the devil, king of all demons.
Killian grinned at first amused by the fact that was on her mind now instead of trying to get advice on how to make people like her. "I am right under the devil. Why? Are you becoming afraid of
all of a sudden?" He looked down at her.
"No," Alia shook her head. "I just needed to know why they are so eager to call another king. There is so much I need to learn about you. Good to know my future husband is one of the second most powerful n in the underworld."
Alia’s confidence grew with each step she took toward the gate. She was confused as to if the gates were going to open or if they would talk behind them. Her question was answered when the gates made a loud noise before they started to open. The people’s excitent died down and they all looked at her. Clearly, they all knew she did not belong in the north.
"King Killian Bune has returned to the north. He has brought back many of the people stolen from our land!" A man high up on the gates in a lookout tower yelled. "With him is Alia Blackwell, princess of the Blackwell kingdom."
"And your future queen," Killian finished the announcent. "The north and Blackwells are working toward peace. You will not have to worry about attacks on this land anymore. I have chosen their princess to rule by my side. You are to respect her-"
"She is not one of us," a man in the crowd hissed.
Alia was intrigued by how quickly his brown hair changed to white and his eyes a bright red. ’This is their true form,’ she thought. She could see tiny horns on his forehead. Alia now wondered why they put on appearances like normal people when no one but northerners lived in the north. They should be able to walk around like this unless the rules from the underworld were really strict.
Killian ran his tongue under his hidden fangs that resembled the ones vampires had. He knew there would be that one fool to cut him off. "Do you think that I have gone blind or lost any of my other senses? I know what she is but that does not change the fact she will be my wife. Either you get used to it or you can return to the underworld. A threat to her life is very much a threat to my own. Anyone who tries to harm her, I will wipe their existence from all worlds."
Chatter amongst the people started again. Alia still received harsh stares which she found no different from the ones she would receive from the n in the court back ho.
"I will work hard as our queen and make sure that the feud between the Blackwells and the north no longer exists. Yes, I am not like any of you standing before
but that does not an I will not make a good queen. Give
a chance before you judge . I know many of you might think I am like my father but that is far from the truth. Just like you, I despised him too," Alia confessed her true feelings and received weird looks.
She continued to say, "I did not say that for you to like . I want all of you to rember that I don’t plan to be the type of ruler my father was. The mont I marry Killian, I will consider myself a northerner. I may never be a demon and I won’t try to act like one but I will care for your wellbeing and be a good ruler."
A woman folded her arms and eyed Alia with envy. It wasn’t fair that a human got to be with Killian when many demonesses wanted the chance to be with him. In her eyes, Alia’s beauty did not compare to the won here so what was so special about her? It wouldn’t be so hard to break the woman ant to be their queen.
Alia found the woman staring at her and offered her a smile. A lot of hearts would be broken today since Killian was now off the market. He better be if his little immortal behind wanted to stay alive forever.
"Are you cutting ties with the Blackwells? You have to pick a side."
"I will not. I will always be a Blackwell princess even when I am the queen of the north. I will make fair judgnts and not listen to any commands from the Blackwell if it will put anyone standing here. Soon you will be my people too and I will put my life on the line for all of you. I truly wish for peace which is why I am here with your king. You do not have to worry about being attacked anymore," Alia replied.
"Your people used to hunt and kill us. If you are on our side, destroy that thing in your hair. It reeks of holy water," the woman who had been staring at Alia called out the weapon in her hair.
Alia squeezed Killian’s hand for help. She did not intend on getting rid of the one thing she had to protect herself but they would judge her for bringing a weapon that could harm them around. Why didn’t Killian warn her he could sll the water used on the weapon? She would not have worn it out until she found a way to mask the sll.
"Why should she get rid of her when all of you look as if you would harm her at any mont? She’s wary of being attacked and she has every right to be. As long as none of you try to attack her, there will be no reason for her to use that on you. We are not here for you to question her. She will be your queen so fix the way you look at her. That is all," Killian turned to leave with Alia.
He ignored their cries and complaints as they had more to say. Killian couldn’t be bothered about the ridiculous questions they would have. All they needed to know was that Alia would soon be the queen of the north. He intended to marry her sooner than she was thinking to get all of this over with. Planning a wedding seed to be a pain in the ass and he was not in the mood to deal with countless questions about cake and whatnot.
Alia released a sigh, glad that it was over for now. This was only the beginning. The real challenge would start now.
