"Belladonna Vyre..." Wraith No. 1 muttered from underneath his mask. Because his face was covered, no one could see his expression. Of course, that didn’t change the outco.
"Hmm? You know who I am?" Bella asked, feigning curiosity. Honestly, in this part of the Southern Region, who didn’t know who she was? And Wraith No. 1 confird it.
"Surely, you jest. Who in this region doesn’t know who you are?" He replied.
"Then you should know that resistance is futile. Obediently lay down your weapons, and I would at least give you a swift death."
"Haha, I would respectfully decline. You see, we quite like our lives." He responded with a chuckle.
"Suit yourselves. Don’t say I didn’t warn you." Bella said with a shrug. As if she wasn’t bothered about their rejection. Well, it wasn’t as if she was expecting them to actually follow her orders.
"Heh! You have a lot of guts for a re Golden Core realm cultivator. Do you think just because you are from the House of Vyre, you can disregard everything?"
This ti, it was Wraith No. 2 that spoke. He had grown frustrated listening to the conversation between their leader and this girl. Sure, she was from the House of Vyre, but that didn’t an that she could say whatever she wanted.
Especially in a situation where personal strength mattered more than your family’s background, like this one.
Bella simply glanced at Wraith No. 2 before turning her attention back on the leader. Wraith No. 2, seeing that he was ignored, his anger increased, and he couldn’t help but curse.
"Hmph, just a bitch relying on her family’s power."
Hearing his words, the guards who had co with Bella finally couldn’t hold back and started yelling.
"How dare you speak to the Young Miss that way!"
"You must be tired of living!" Two of the three guards said angrily.
anwhile, Bella didn’t even waste her ti responding to him. However, just as the guards were about to continue, the figure of Wraith No. 3 blurred.
In the blink of an eye, she was right beside Bella, with her dagger poised to strike. However, just before her dagger could connect, the guard that had remained silent all this ti finally moved.
With a single swing of his sword, the dagger that was about to pierce into Bella’s chest was blocked. Not only blocked, but the force of the strike was enough to send Wraith No. 3 flying back.
However, with a graceful sorsault, Wraith No. 3 was able to land on her feet and quickly rejoin her team.
"Tch. I thought I would be able to kill that bitch." She muttered underneath her mask. Yes. Everything that had been going on was a plan set up by the Wraiths.
They knew they wouldn’t be able to complete their original mission, with them being exposed. However, they didn’t want to leave the city without achieving sothing.
If they were able to kill one of the Young Mistresses from the House of Vyre, it would make up for their blunder on this mission. Perhaps they might be able to avoid punishnt and might even be rewarded.
After all, both were the Heirs of the Noble Houses. The value of the lives should be similar. However, their plan failed. They were hoping to land a sneak attack on Bella while her guards weren’t paying attention, quickly ending her life.
She was a Golden Core realm cultivator, so she shouldn’t be able to react to the speed of a Nascent Soul realm cultivator, especially an assassin who specialized i in speed.
It was a hasty plan with not much thought put into it. There were many factors they hadn’t considered; however, they didn’t have ti to think things through.
In their current situation, they could only act first and think later. They knew that soone like Bella probably wouldn’t be without a trump card. A life-saving artifact that could ensure her safety until help ca wouldn’t be surprising.
However, they were holding on to a sliver of hope.
What if...
What if they were able to pull it off? That was the only motivation they had to attempt that attack. And attack they did. However, contrary to what they were expecting, it wasn’t so artifact or treasure that saved Bella. It was one of the guards that they had dismissed in their minds.
anwhile, Bella was still locking eyes with Wraith No. 1. From the start of the attack till now, she hadn’t broken eye contact with him. As if she didn’t care whether she was targeted, her body didn’t even flinch when she almost got stabbed.
Seeing their Young Miss almost get hurt, the remaining two guards who were verbally berating Wraith No. 2 froze. They imdiately realized what had just happened.
In the next second, they turned their anger back onto the Wraiths.
However, they didn’t move. At least not at first. However, a single soft-spoken word released the reins on them.
"Attack," Bella said.
Then, without hesitation, everyone dashed out, engaging the Wraiths in a head-on battle.
The Wraiths, seeing the sneak attack failing, were already preparing for the clash. They t the attacks of the guards head-on, and soon the battle erupted.
The alley was too narrow for them to fight, so the battle quickly dissolved into the street. It was an equal battle, with each mber facing one opponent.
The guard that blocked the sneak attack on Bella was facing Wraith No. 1. With both of them being the strongest and both of them being at the sixth level of the Nascent Soul realm, their battle quickly beca a heated one.
The remaining two guards were facing Wraith No. 2 and Wraith No. 3, respectively. They were quite similar in strength, with only the difference of a single level of the guard facing Wraith No. 3.
anwhile, Bella was left with Wraith No. 4. His realm was the lowest among the Wraiths. Plus, he was already injured, leaving him the perfect opponent for Bella.
Of course, he didn’t think so.
"To think a re Golden Core realm cultivator would think she could beat . I guess the arrogance from the Noble families is really sothing else, huh." He said.
"You guys really like ntioning your opponent’s realm, huh. Let show you what this re Golden Core realm cultivator can do."
With that, Bella dashed towards Wraith no 4, while lashing out with her whip.
Wraith No. 4 sneered beneath his mask as he sidestepped the whip’s strike, the crack of leather against stone echoing through the street. Though injured, he was still a Nascent Soul cultivator, a full realm above Bella. He wouldn’t lose to so pampered noble girl.
"Predictable," he scoffed, darting forward with a burst of speed, his dagger aid at her throat.
Bella’s lips curled into a smirk. It was the first ti she had such a look on her face. Wraith no 4, seeing this, narrowed his eyes. He felt sothing was wrong, but it was too late.
Just as the blade neared, her speed suddenly shot up, and her body flickered, an afterimage dissolved into the air as she reappeared behind him. Her whip coiled around his wrist like a serpent, yanking his arm back with enough force to dislocate his shoulder.
Wraith No. 4 snarled in pain but twisted midair, slashing downward with his free hand. A second dagger, hidden in his sleeve, glead in the sunlight.
Bella leaned back, the blade missing her by a hair’s breadth. Before he could recover, she pivoted on her heel and delivered a brutal kick to his ribs. The impact sent him skidding across the cobblestones, his breath hitching.
"You-" He coughed, pushing himself up. "How?"
She twirled her whip lazily. "You talk too much."
His eyes narrowed. This wasn’t the fight he’d expected. He knew she was strong, but for her to be able to fight soone a full realm above her? Now that he wasn’t expecting.
However, Bella didn’t give him the chance to think. She moved closer to him, stopping just when she was a bit closer to him.
A whip user worked well at mid-range, and she was going to take advantage of that. Without hesitation, she lashed out several tis, sending multiple attacks towards Wraith No. 4.
Overwheld by the attacks, Wraith no. 4 could only avoid the attacks while looking for a chance to back away and regroup. However, would Bella let him do what he wanted?
Of course not. She stuck to him like glue, making sure he didn’t leave the effective range of her whip while simultaneously making sure that she didn’t get too close to him.
Wraith No. 4 could only curse under his breath when he noticed what she was doing. In his mind, if he weren’t injured, he would have been able to dispatch her easily.
He blad it all on his injury. His pride as a Nascent Soul realm cultivator didn’t let him believe that Bella could match him. His mind had to make up so bogus excuse. If it didn’t, he might have lost his marbles.
