Zhou Lin dropped off Cheng Zhiyin downstairs and Cheng Zhiwei accompanied her up.

Zhou Lin waited in the car.

He smoked a cigarette, and as the smoke swirled, his gaze suddenly narrowed, staring at a black car not far ahead.

Almost imdiately, he got out of the car and rushed into the building, making a call while heading upstairs.

By the ti he reached the door, his heart was pounding.

A deep breath helped calm his emotions before he rang the doorbell.

The doorbell rang once or twice before soone pulled it open from the inside.

Only a warm orange light was on in the room, slightly dim. Cheng Zhiwei’s long hair was still damp, and she had changed into a nightgown.

"You..." Zhou Lin frowned.

"I’m staying here with my sister tonight," Cheng Zhiwei said, not letting Zhou Lin in, just quietly looking at him, "You go back first."

Zhou Lin stayed silent for a few seconds, a barely noticeable change crossing his gaze as he raised his hand, perhaps intending to touch her face but quickly restraining himself.

"Okay, then I’ll co over tomorrow morning to pick you up."

"Mhm."

The door closed, and Zhou Lin turned and left.

Cheng Zhiwei stood by the window, expressionless, watching Zhou Lin’s car drive off before she finally relaxed.

She went to the master bedroom.

In the bedroom, Cheng Zhiyin’s hands were tied behind her to a chair, and her mouth was sealed with tape.

Cheng Zhiwei, no, precisely He Mingzhu, she tore the tape from Cheng Zhiyin’s mouth, her smile scoffing, "Fairly obedient."

"He Mingzhu, where have you tied up Zhiwei?" Cheng Zhiyin angrily demanded.

Just now, when she and Cheng Zhiwei entered, they were grabbed and tied up; she was pushed into the room while Cheng Zhiwei was taken away.

He Mingzhu sat in front of the dressing table, looking at her still stiff face in the mirror, humming softly, "Naturally, she’s in a useful place."

She looked and beca angry; if it weren’t for getting close to ng Qiancheng, she wouldn’t have disfigured herself like this.

"Did ng Qiancheng make you do this?"

He Mingzhu’s lips curved with disdain but didn’t deny it was him, neither did she admit it.

"He Mingzhu, Zhou Lin won’t let you off," Cheng Zhiyin could only weakly threaten.

She regretted letting Cheng Zhiwei accompany her ho.

Moreover, she did not expect ng Qiancheng to arrange these people in her house.

He Mingzhu carelessly said, "Whatever."

Since that incident, she only harbored hatred for Zhou Lin.

Besides, Zhou Lin liked Cheng Zhiwei’s face, and having that face would allow her to get close to Zhou Lin again.

Zhou Lin drove to the corner, then got into another car.

Secretary Zhang handed over a tablet, "This is the surveillance, no abnormalities detected, the exits are also guarded; no one has co in or out."

Zhou Lin did not turn away ignorant of everything but knew Cheng Zhiwei might be in trouble and did not act rashly.

He Mingzhu had her face altered to look like Cheng Zhiwei’s, and even her voice and deanor were sowhat similar, with only a dim light intentionally on in the room.

But Zhou Lin still recognized that it was not Cheng Zhiwei, but He Mingzhu.

With He Mingzhu here, Cheng Zhiwei’s situation can only be imagined.

He could not act rashly, hence he turned away as if nothing was amiss.

After viewing the surveillance, no suspicious individuals were identified.

"Go find ng Qiancheng," Zhou Lin tossed aside the tablet.

Actually, there was no need to watch the surveillance; if ng Qiancheng could do this, he must have cleaned up all traces nicely.

Since nothing was found, it was ti to confront directly.

However, ng Qiancheng claid he had never been there.

Zhou Lin scoffed, kicking over a stool nearby, "ng Qiancheng, you do such deeds and still think you can maintain a foothold in Yucheng?"

ng Qiancheng’s face turned terribly somber, "I did not go looking for her."

He had such plans, but they were not yet implented.

"Yet I saw He Mingzhu," Zhou Lin ntioned the na, feeling disgust.

He Mingzhu purposefully made her face like that, ng Qiancheng’s high-profile marriage was all for this day.

"Smash everything," Zhou Lin tired of talking, instructed his n to smash everything possible in ng Qiancheng’s villa.

Yet they genuinely found no sign of Cheng Zhiwei inside and out.

ng Qiancheng watched without trying to stop it.

Because he discovered that he couldn’t reach He Mingzhu by phone.

He went directly to Cheng Zhiyin’s house.

No doorbell was rung, just the locks cut and the house entered forcibly.

The rooms were empty, completely unoccupied.

He then went to the master bedroom and discovered Cheng Zhiyin tied up.

Cheng Zhiyin detailed everything, her eyes red as she questioned ng Qiancheng, "From the ti Zhiwei knew you, she was always good to you, and this is how you repay kindness with malice?"

"I didn’t know about this."

"Who else could harm her like this other than you?"

ng Qiancheng repeated his stance, "Not , I will investigate and bring her back."

...

When Cheng Zhiwei woke up, it was already evening, and the neon lights outside the window flashed, brightening the room slightly.

She tried to move, feeling weak all over.

Struggling to get up, she was dripping with sweat.

A sowhat hoarse voice suddenly spoke up, "So you are that child she gave birth to and then disappeared."

Cheng Zhiwei was startled before she understood the other was talking about Yu Man.

Very few people could say this statent.

But... But...

Zhou Chenyan was supposed to be dead.

As if to confirm her guess, the room suddenly brightened.

Cheng Zhiwei could see everything in the room clearly.

It was an ordinary room, not far from a sofa, a middle-aged man in a wheelchair, smiling yet not smiling at her.

That look...

Cheng Zhiwei’s lips trembled, unbelievingly, "Zhou Chenyan?"

He was supposed to have been killed by ng Qiancheng, how could he appear here?

The man in the wheelchair was paler than the Zhou Chenyan she had seen before.

It was the pallor of soone who hadn’t seen sunlight for years.

Moreover, he looked unwell, lacking the arrogance he had in Yucheng before.

"You’re not dead?" Cheng Zhiwei directly asked.

Zhou Chenyan scoffed disdainfully, "I’ve lived most of my life, always scheming against others."

aning, he had never been outmaneuvered.

Even being shot by ng Qiancheng.

Was within his control.

"What do you want to do?" Cheng Zhiwei tried to get out of bed, but dizziness struck her with every move.

"I don’t want to do anything, I just heard, your daughter looks a lot like Yu Man?" Zhou Chenyan spoke indifferently.

Cheng Zhiwei’s heart skipped heavily, finally understanding why she was here.

Zhou Chenyan knew about Cheng Xing resembling Yu Man.

He had his eyes on Cheng Xing.

"Don’t touch her," Cheng Zhiwei scread in despair, "She’s just a child, she knows nothing."

"Don’t get worked up, I’m just asking."
