Huang Ye’s expressions froze on his face, quite comically, "How did you know?"

Cheng Zhiwei stood up and started to sneer coldly, "Huang Ye, when you do sothing wrong, you always leave traces. I just don’t know how Seo Zhenzhen is going to help you this ti, or if she’ll simply give up on you."

"I told you, it has nothing to do with her," Huang Ye gritted his teeth, refusing to admit anything.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t bother talking anymore. When the police arrived, she handed him over to them. Attempted murder was a serious enough charge for him to be reford in prison.

It was already one o’clock in the morning by the ti she finished with the police statent.

He Ye had planned to co, but because he was quite famous now, being spotted at the police station could have a bad influence, so Cheng Zhiwei went alone.

She didn’t really care.

Right after stepping out, she saw Secretary Zhang waiting at the door, who respectfully whispered, "Young Madam."

Cheng Zhiwei furrowed her brows, "I’ve already divorced him."

Secretary Zhang carefully accompanied her, though his tone carried so urgency, "If you have ti, please go see President Zhou."

"I don’t have ti," Cheng Zhiwei flatly refused.

Why should she go see him and make herself uncomfortable?

Secretary Zhang hesitated to speak and looked troubled, "If you don’t go, we might have to collect his body tomorrow."

Those were grave words.

Yet they couldn’t move Cheng Zhiwei’s heart, she scoffed, "Then go ahead and collect his body."

"President Zhou got injured while protecting you after all," Secretary Zhang had to lay out the facts, "If it weren’t for President Zhou, you’d likely be lying in a hospital right now."

To say ’lying in a hospital’ was an understatent; with Huang Ye’s ferocity, she would have been killed on the spot.

For a mont, Cheng Zhiwei found herself unable to speak her harsh sentints.

Massaging her temples, she could only patiently ask, "Where is he?"

Secretary Zhang imdiately replied, "At Sparkling Sky City."

Their forr marriage ho.

During the divorce, Zhou Lin had given this villa to Cheng Zhiwei, so officially, the villa was hers.

Only, she had never been back.

"I got it. Oh, and notify Zhang Yuanheng to co over," Cheng Zhiwei arranged, always preparing for the worst.

If Zhou Lin still refused to go to the hospital later on, she would have Zhang Yuanheng inject him with a sedative.

"Sure, sure, I’ll do that right away," Secretary Zhang was teary with joy. That was a relief.

He arranged for soone to drive Cheng Zhiwei to Sparkling Sky City and went to fetch Zhang Yuanheng himself.

Standing at the front door, Cheng Zhiwei knocked politely.

There was no response for a long ti.

She could only enter using the code she rembered.

As the final digit was entered, the door clicked open.

Six years, and not a single number of the code had changed.

Inside was pitch black.

Slowly, with the help of the light from the street lamps streaming in, she could vaguely make out so contours.

She pressed the light switch, but there was no response from inside. She didn’t know if there was a power failure or sothing else.

She had no choice but to gather her courage and walk in, tentatively calling out, "Zhou Lin."

A "clang" sounded at her feet as she kicked a bottle.

The noise echoed in the empty living room, chilling to the bone.

Just as Cheng Zhiwei’s courage was draining and she was about to leave, she was suddenly embraced from behind and pulled into a tight hold.

The sll of alcohol enveloped her.

A raspy voice whispered into her ear, "Zhiwei."

It was Zhou Lin.

He drank.

The sll of alcohol mixed with the stench of blood, causing Cheng Zhiwei’s scalp to tingle.

He was injured, and still he drank?

Cheng Zhiwei’s temper flared up, her voice firm, "Zhou Lin, you’re injured and you’re still drinking. Do you have a death wish?"

What in the world was he trying to do?

Zhou Lin, however, seed not to hear the impatience in her tone. He hugged her back tightly, arms clamped around her waist like iron grips.

His tone was cheerful, "Your coming here proves you still have feelings for , right, Zhiwei? I’m so happy."

Cheng Zhiwei rolled her eyes and struggled fiercely to break free, "Zhou Lin, if you want to kill yourself, don’t drag others down with you. You’re injured, drinking, and refusing to go to the hospital - if you die, you’ve only yourself to bla."

She was far from placid, and certainly wasn’t about to softly comfort Zhou Lin.

If he wanted to die, she couldn’t stop him.

"Don’t talk like that, Zhiwei," Zhou Lin rested his chin on Cheng Zhiwei’s shoulder and clung to her like a bear, "It was a misunderstanding. Give ti, and I can resolve it."

Cheng Zhiwei felt a sourness in her nose. If only he had known it was all a misunderstanding earlier, she wouldn’t have suffered so much.

But the past was the past, and there was no dicine for regret in this world.

She clenched her palms to stay calm, "Since you’re safe, I’m going to call Secretary Zhang to find out where he is. He will take care of you."

Before she could finish speaking, her chin was grasped and her neck forced backward to endure his kisses that fell like a furious storm.

Zhou Lin, drunk with the added pain from his injuries, didn’t weaken under the dual assault. Instead, it seed to unleash an endless fury within him.

He then pressed Cheng Zhiwei down onto the couch, holding her face and kissing her intently, calling her na tenderly while doing so.

"Zhiwei."

"Zhiwei..."

Cheng Zhiwei’s struggling was futile, and both regret and anger eventually turned into tears.

Zhou Lin was injured and had been drinking, but his strength was even greater than usual, leaving Cheng Zhiwei’s lips and tongue terribly numb.

And Zhou Lin stopped only when his tongue tasted saltiness.

"Zhou Lin," Cheng Zhiwei ground her teeth, tears sliding onto her long hair, "Don’t make look down on you."

Zhou Lin’s movents halted. In the darkness, Cheng Zhiwei could feel his scorching gaze like that of a lurking beast, biding its ti. The silence now ant an even more ferocious impending attack.

Fortunately, he slowly let go.

Cheng Zhiwei gained her freedom and almost instantly pushed him away.

Zhou Lin’s body fell heavily to the ground, eliciting a deep groan and the sound of shattering glass.

Cheng Zhiwei’s face changed, "Zhou Lin?"

The answer was the sudden brightening of the lights.

Cheng Zhiwei subconsciously raised her hand to shield her eyes.

The stark white light covered the entire living room, bringing everything sharply into view.

Cheng Zhiwei’s hair was as disheveled as her clothes, her lips a shimring red, and Zhou Lin lay on the ground, his injured part impossible to ignore.

"Cough cough, sorry for disturbing you," Secretary Zhang apologized cheerfully.

If the two of them reconciled, it ant his days of suffering were coming to an end.

Was he finally... about to be freed?

Zhang Yuanheng wore a complex expression as he glanced at Cheng Zhiwei, "Look, should we co back later?"

Cheng Zhiwei got up from the couch. She stood aside, looking down at Zhou Lin with a detached tone, "Since you’re here, he’s your responsibility now."

She turned and walked away.

"Miss Cheng," Secretary Zhang hurried after her, almost begging, "To go the extra mile, could you accompany us to the hospital?"

"Secretary Zhang, what is my relationship with him that I should take him to the hospital?" Cheng Zhiwei’s anger rose, "I’ve already gone above and beyond by coming here."

It was all Zhou Lin’s own doing!
