"Although we’re in the cooling-off period before divorce, we’re not divorced yet, Cheng Zhiwei," he said sarcastically. "You and ng Qiancheng had better restrain yourselves, or else you’ll be accused of infidelity before the divorce is even finalized."
"You..." ng Qiancheng was so angry he was beside himself. Zhou Lin’s words were really venomous, making one want to punch him.
"Dinner’s almost ready, co in and sit down," said Cheng Zhiyin as she ca out of the living room, looking at the three people at the door. She looked at Cheng Zhiwei disapprovingly, "What are you doing blocking the doorway? Young President Zhou is a guest, how can you behave like this?"
With that one sentence, Zhou Lin’s position was made crystal clear.
Cheng Zhiwei thought about it and then graciously smiled at Zhou Lin, "Please, Young President Zhou."
A trace of triumph appeared on ng Qiancheng’s face imdiately.
Zhou Lin raised his eyebrows slightly, walking in calmly and collectedly.
ng Qiancheng mocked coldly from behind, "The almighty President of Zhou Group can be so shaless."
His tone was sharp and even carried a hint of envy.
Cheng Zhiyin looked at ng Qiancheng in surprise, then glanced at Cheng Zhiwei, a flicker of understanding crossing her eyes.
No wonder Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t fall for ng Qiancheng.
The reason lay here.
In the living room, the four of them sat separately.
Zhou Lin was on a single-seat sofa, Cheng Zhiwei and Cheng Zhiyin were sitting together on a long sofa, and ng Qiancheng sat opposite Zhou Lin.
The atmosphere was a bit eerie.
Cheng Zhiwei and Cheng Zhiyin watched a variety show, while Zhou Lin was busy texting soone on his phone, not even bothering to look up, as if he really was just there for a free al.
The one who was most restless was ng Qiancheng.
His gaze kept falling on Cheng Zhiwei and Zhou Lin, observing if they exchanged any secret glances.
After about ten minutes, when he noticed that neither of them had looked at each other even once, he felt relieved but couldn’t resist swaggering and deliberately asked, "After your divorce, Young President Zhou, do you plan to marry Seo Zhenzhen?"
Zhou Lin didn’t even lift his head, his tone indifferent to the extre, "You sure do pry a lot."
That was clearly an evasive answer. ng Qiancheng glanced at Cheng Zhiwei slyly, and seeing that she had no reaction, he continued, "Just asking casually, why so agitated? Don’t tell you don’t plan to marry her? Or do you despise her for being disabled and plan to find soone better?"
The words beca increasingly unpleasant to hear.
Cheng Zhiwei’s face was expressionless. ng Qiancheng’s words were harsh, but Zhou Lin deserved it.
Zhou Lin put away his phone, smiled slightly with a sneer, and finally looked ng Qiancheng straight in the eye. After a few seconds of silent eye contact, he chuckled, "Doctor ng is so interested in my personal affairs. Are you planning to spill the beans to the dia and make so extra money?"
ng Qiancheng’s face got ugly from Zhou Lin’s deliberate mockery, "You are really petty. I was just asking casually, and now you’re accusing of wrongdoing."
"After all, I’ve heard that your relationship with Seo Zhenzhen was so passionate back in the day, very close indeed. Now that she’s back, I still hope you’ll take the initiative to take responsibility for her and take good care of her for life."
Despite the twists and turns, it always ca back to Zhou Lin being the scoundrel.
Zhou Lin stretched out his legs comfortably crossed together, showing no sign of his mood being affected by ng Qiancheng’s words, "Doctor ng cares so much about Zhenzhen, I’ll thank you on her behalf."
"Dinner is ready." Guo Cuihua called everyone into the living room, she paused upon seeing Zhou Lin but still nodded her head and greeted him coldly.
What was originally dinner for three turned into dinner for six, filling up the small dining table.
Cheng Zhiwei sat opposite Zhou Lin, eating seriously as if Zhou Lin didn’t exist.
Halfway through the al, soone banged on the front door "bang bang."
"I’ll go." Cheng Zhiyin put down her utensils and went to open the door.
No sooner had the door opened than six or seven n barged in, led by Gao Wei’s mother. As she entered, she wailed and beat her thighs, crying to the heavens, "My poor son, frad and imprisoned, now even his house has been taken over. This old woman is left holess and wandering the streets. Is there no justice in this world?"
The man beside her imdiately shouted fiercely, "Cheng Zhiyin, you wicked woman, you sched to get Gao Wei jailed and now you want to take over his house too? I’m telling you, you are dreaming. We, the Gao family, will never allow you to do that."
These n had been summoned from their hotown by Mother Gao.
After listening to Mother Gao’s tales of woe about how her son and herself, as a widow and orphan, were bullied by her daughter-in-law and how not only her son was imprisoned but even their house was seized, they were each filled with righteous indignation, resolute in seeking justice.
Cheng Zhiyin’s face turned pale as she backed away and said sternly, "Please leave this place, or I will call the police."
"Cheng Zhiyin, you despicable woman, give back my son, give back my son!" Mother Gao rushed forward, bawling and causing a scene as if she had suffered the greatest of injustices.
"What are you doing?" Guo Cuihua pulled Cheng Zhiyin over and looked at Mother Gao with disgust, "Gao Wei beat my daughter to such a state, and I haven’t yet sought reparation from you, yet you dare to co here causing trouble. Do you have no sha?"
"Guo Cuihua, your daughter is nothing but a barren hen. You conspired together to deceive my son into a marriage, causing him such misfortune. Our Gao family will never stand together with your Cheng family! Smash everything!" Mother Gao shrieked.
The n she brought, each ard with a baseball bat, upon receiving Mother Gao’s command, imdiately spread out and started smashing everything around, shattering objects to pieces.
Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fists and was about to intervene when ng Qiancheng pulled her back and whispered a scolding, "Have you lost your mind? If you rush in now and anger them, they will take your life. I’ve already discreetly sent a ssage for soone to call the police. Don’t worry, the police will be here soon."
"But..." Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes reddened, many things in the house were newly purchased by her and Cheng Zhiyin, yet they were being smashed to bits.
How can they bully people like this.
"If things are broken, they’re broken. We can always buy them again later, but if you rush in now, it’s like giving them your head, understand?"
No matter how heartbroken Cheng Zhiwei was, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and endure it.
Just as they had finished smashing the living room and were about to move into the rooms, Cheng Zhiyin could no longer bear it and charged forward, blocking one of the n, "Stop this at once."
Mother Gao cackled wildly, "Cheng Zhiyin, you harbinger of doom, you want the house, do you? I’ll destroy it and then see how you can take it."
The man who was wildly smashing things raised his baseball bat toward Cheng Zhiyin when she stopped him, "You woman, you’re asking for death."
How could Cheng Zhiyin withstand such a blow if it landed.
Cheng Zhiwei’s face changed dramatically, and without thinking, she charged forward, gritting her teeth and threw herself on top of Cheng Zhiyin.
But the anticipated pain did not co. Instead, there was a weight on her back, followed by a muffled groan from above her head.
Then she was pulled up.
A familiar scent enveloped her suddenly, along with Zhou Lin’s furious bellow, "You’re courting death."
He lifted his foot and kicked the man fiercely, sending him flying out.
