Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Can he fall for her in a month?

Drowsy and muddled, Cheng Zhiwei was woken up by noises outside in the morning.

Upon opening her eyes, she was imdiately confronted with Zhou Lin’s handso face enlarged in front of her, his eyebrows dark and thick, his nose bridge firm, and his thin lips curved into an indifferent arc.

She was startled for a mont before realizing she was nestled in Zhou Lin’s arms.

Her head was resting on his arm, which in turn was draped over her waist, making her breathing suddenly unnatural, faintly feeling both feverish and awkward.

The pillow that had been between them the previous night was now nowhere to be seen, and the moist blanket was warm from the mingling of their bodies.

Cheng Zhiwei bit her lip, forcing herself to stay calm, and then tried to slip out without making a sound.

As soon as she moved, Zhou Lin stirred as if awakened, tightened his arm around her, and nudged forward, bringing his face so close their noses were nearly touching.

Cheng Zhiwei’s body stiffened, her eyes watery and wide as she stared at Zhou Lin.

Beneath his disheveled hair, his eyes remained firmly closed.

He hadn’t woken up.

It was just a subconscious movent.

Not knowing whether to feel disappointed or relieved, Cheng Zhiwei withdrew her gaze. She didn’t want to disturb Zhou Lin only because she didn’t want to create a misunderstanding, making him think she was trying to seduce him.

The docunts were still with Zhou Lin. She needed to be cautious with her words and actions.

But at this mont, she was held tightly in his embrace like a human-shaped pillow and unable to break free.

Continuing to be held in such an intimate position, reserved for lovers, made Cheng Zhiwei very uncomfortable. Just as she was contemplating whether to simply kick Zhou Lin awake, his tightly shut eyes twitched slightly.

She imdiately realized that Zhou Lin was about to wake up and subconsciously, she closed her eyes.

Zhou Lin had slept very comfortably, which was unusual given the poor conditions here, especially the blanket that felt damp and even a bit moldy. He doubted he could ever get accustod to it or sleep well.

However, for so reason, during the latter half of the night, the originally cold and wet blanket suddenly beca warm. He couldn’t resist wrapping it around him again and again, hugging it tight to his chest.

Yet, the mont he opened his eyes, he was utterly stunned.

The ’blanket’ he had wrapped around himself was not an actual blanket at all, but a person, and not just any person, but one he could never have imagined.

Cheng Zhiwei.

She hadn’t woken up yet, breathing calmly with her long hair tangled around his arm, her eyelashes delicate and obedient, her skin pale with a hint of pink, and her lips pursed tightly, as if she was dreaming sothing unhappy.

The warm and sweet scent mixed with his own breath, impossible to ignore, and her slender fingers were half clenched into a fist, resting near his heart, or perhaps, it was a defensive posture.

Zhou Lin felt a bit stiff because he realized it wasn’t Cheng Zhiwei clinging to him, but rather, he was the one who had held her in his arms, and thinking back to last night’s sensation, he was certain he had used Cheng Zhiwei as a pillow.

This thought caused a montary daze.

For the first ti in his clearheaded state, he was holding her this close, and it was his own doing. The woman in his arms was so docile and soft, a stark contrast to her usual cold and stubborn deanor when awake.

Lin Yu’s words from the night before last couldn’t help but surface in his mind.

It was Lin Yu who had called, berating him before finally setting a condition, "Within a month, you must drop all your work, focus entirely on caring for Zhiwei, no matter what happens, don’t bla her right away. Think about it, see if it’s because of sothing you did. If by then you still don’t like her, I’ll talk to your dad and let you two divorce."

This marriage wasn’t what he wanted, but under Zhou Chenyuan’s pressure, he had to agree, and he couldn’t divorce either.

Zhou Chenyuan nodded. Divorce would be an easy thing for him, otherwise, he would pay a great price.

So, initially, when Cheng Zhiwei suggested divorce, he disagreed. It wasn’t just out of spite and tornt, but more so because of the pressure given by Zhou Chenyuan.

Just like now, if it weren’t for Lin Yu, the first ti he saw Cheng Zhiwei in his arms, he would unquestionably push her away rcilessly, even questioning and scolding her after she woke up, as to whether it was intentional.

But now, because of Lin Yu’s words, he allowed himself to calm down for three seconds. For the first ti, he looked for reasons within himself, and he discovered it was indeed his own fault.

At this mont, it could be said that his emotions were exceedingly complex.

Without any pushing or questioning, Zhou Lin gently withdrew his arm, and even after getting out of bed he tenderly covered Cheng Zhiwei with the blanket before leaving.

The door gently closed.

Cheng Zhiwei opened her eyes, she knew everything Zhou Lin did, and precisely because of it, she felt more than just shock, there was an overwhelming bitterness.

For Seo Zhenzhen and Bai Zhuzhu, Zhou Lin could actually endure to this extent; it was clear that his love for Seo Zhenzhen was indeed true.

Now that her parents’ issue was resolved, she would go ask Lin Yu to get a divorce for sure.

She lay down for a while longer before she left the room.

Cheng Shang and Guo Cuihua had been in the mountains yesterday, they had also received the ssage to return, so they worked on the handover with the people who arrived throughout the night, without coming back.

Right now, they were having breakfast, each holding a bowl of noodles, sitting by a small square table. Zhou Lin was also there, a bowl of noodles sitting in front of him, but he had no chopsticks.

Guo Cuihua softly said, "This is how it is in the mountains, transporting anything in is not easy, and most of the ti, it’s equipnt and other essentials that are delivered. As long as the food can fill your stomach, it’s fine. Ah Lin, wait a bit and your mom will go to the kitchen and make sothing just for you."

As for this son-in-law, Guo Cuihua’s feelings were complex too, after all, during the last visit at the Cheng Family, he had truly stood by Seo Zhenzhen’s side. Guo Cuihua didn’t really want to deal with him, but thinking about Cheng Zhiwei living with him, she didn’t dare show any disrespect, afraid that he would take it out on Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei walked over and called out to her parents.

Guo Cuihua imdiately stood up, pulling Cheng Zhiwei to look her over from left to right, separated for only a brief ti, but it seed she couldn’t get enough of looking at her.

"You must have been tired yesterday," she asked tenderly, also showing concern for Zhou Lin, "Ah Lin, thank you for your hard work."

Cheng Shang’s tone was cold, "Let’s eat quickly, we’ll leave after we finish."

Cheng Zhiwei then picked up the bowl in front of Zhou Lin and started eating quietly.

Zhou Lin sat on the stool, taking out a cigarette but not lighting it, just twirling it between his fingertips.

His gaze rested on Cheng Zhiwei.

The noodles were watery and plain, unappetizing to look at, yet she was not fussy, daintily eating with her chopsticks, a touch of broth on her lips, shimring crimson. She had also tied her hair into a simple ponytail, revealing her slender, fair and lovely neck.

All three of them were engrossed in eating their own bowls, and on a closer look, indeed resembled one family.

Cheng Zhiwei still had half a bowl of noodles left when suddenly a student rushed over, "Professor Cheng, Professor Guo, sothing has been discovered, please co over."

Both Cheng Shang and Guo Cuihua almost simultaneously put down their bowls and stood up, walking out together.
