Chapter 30: Chapter 30: If you can give her back her legs, I’ll agree to a divorce.
"Slap."
A crisp sound.
Cheng Zhiwei’s raised hand trembled, "Zhou Lin, you are the one refusing to divorce."
Zhou Lin squinted, his tongue touching the spot where he got slapped, his gaze dark and fearso, "Fine, she lost her legs, you give them back to her, and I’ll agree to the divorce. Otherwise, you will spend your life by my side atoning for your sins."
Cheng Zhiwei laughed miserably, "It’s really you."
His retaliation had always been there.
Only she had foolishly believed she could warm his heart and that ti would be the best healer.
Now she knew that ti was not a healer at all, but a poison that choked upon ingestion.
"Cheng Zhiwei, if you don’t want to drag your dear Senior He Ye into this, you better behave," Zhou Lin leaned close to Cheng Zhiwei’s ear and said each word chillingly.
"You wouldn’t dare." Cheng Zhiwei clenched her teeth, her hatred no longer concealable, "Zhou Lin, if you touch him, I will make that call to tell on you."
She spoke, turned around, and briskly walked away. As soon as she burst through the room’s door, tears rushed out competing to escape first.
Her chest ached as if it were being churned and overturned.
Secretary Zhang entered from the door and imdiately noticed the palm print on Zhou Lin’s face, gasping in shock, "Young President Zhou..."
Zhou Lin’s chest heaved with force. Cheng Zhiwei actually hit him for He Ye, impressive really.
That odious man had given her just a little favor, and she had no idea anymore which way to open the family door, running to doubt him, question him, even hitting him.
He felt suffocated to death.
Secretary Zhang hesitated, Young President Zhou was furious, and bringing up Young Madam’s affairs now was like pulling a tooth from a tiger’s mouth.
Yet just now, the madam had already called with an ultimatum.
He...
"Order them, no one is allowed to help Cheng Zhiwei. Anyone who does will bear the consequences," Zhou Lin’s voice was so cold it felt like it could drop icicles.
He wanted Cheng Zhiwei to kneel and beg him.
Otherwise, it would not be enough to avenge today’s hatred.
She had slapped him twice already; not even his mother had ever slapped him that many tis growing up.
After pacing twice in place, Zhou Lin noticed Secretary Zhang was still there and growled impatiently, "Why are you still standing there? Go and deal with it."
Secretary Zhang touched his nose and suggested cautiously, "Young Madam got caught in the rain and felt wronged today. A simple explanation from you could clear all this up."
A matter that could be easily settled with a few words has to be so awkward.
Sigh.
"Explain, she doesn’t deserve it," Zhou Lin could no longer bear it and kicked the sofa.
Look at the way she gazes at He Ye, so admiring and bright; and now look at her attitude towards him. Why on earth should he bother explaining?
Since her Senior He Ye is so impressive, let him solve her problems. Coming to his head so arrogantly, relying on his mother’s support, she’s getting completely out of control.
Zhou Lin’s resentnt was about to burst through the roof.
Secretary Zhang had no choice but to remind him, "About the madam..."
He didn’t finish his sentence when Zhou Lin’s phone rang—it was Lin Yu’s call.
Furious, Zhou Lin threw the phone on the sofa, massaging his temples, trying to calm down his emotions.
The phone was insistent.
Secretary Zhang repeated, "Madam is a person who keeps her word. If she knew Miss Bai snatched the audition opportunity from the Young Madam, she wouldn’t let it go."
Look, everyone knew it was Bai Zhuzhu who took what belonged to Cheng Zhiwei.
But nobody cared.
Zhou Lin snatched up the phone angrily, answering, "Mom."
Lin Yu’s voice was light and breezy, "How are things going?"
She asked right away about Cheng Zhiwei.
Zhou Lin replied irritably, "I’m your son. Can’t you care about
for once?"
Secretary Zhang quietly left the room.
With red-rimd eyes, Cheng Zhiwei returned to her room. Seeing her state, He Ye imdiately asked with concern, "What did he say?"
"He did it." Cheng Zhiwei covered her face, exhausted and haggard, "Senior, maybe you should ask Director Wen Ya to replace . As long as I’m here, Zhou Lin won’t stop. He will target you, and he will target Director Wen too."
"What on earth does he an by treating you like this?" He Ye’s brow was furrowed.
Cheng Zhiwei slowly sat up straight, a forced smile appearing on her face, "Senior, thank you for the opportunity you gave . Even if I can’t continue in the end, I will always rember your kindness."
At the very least, he had given her a first ray of light.
"Don’t rush." He Ye thought of a solution, "Don’t give up yet."
Cheng Zhiwei smiled bitterly. How could she not give up? She didn’t want to drag He Ye down with her.
"You were drunk that day, but Wu Chengshuang wasn’t. You don’t rember, but he definitely knows who took you away. Let’s find Wu Chengshuang." He Ye thought of this point and imdiately said excitedly, "Once we find Wu Chengshuang, those rumors online will collapse on their own."
Cheng Zhiwei also thought of this and imdiately stood up. "Yes, finding Wu Chengshuang will clear everything up."
She was so foolish not to have thought of it.
"Let’s go." He Ye nodded, taking Cheng Zhiwei by the hand and heading out, "I’ll call Director Wen to ask for Wu Chengshuang’s address."
The two hurried out only to encounter Secretary Zhang.
Secretary Zhang glanced at He Ye. Sharing a room with him was no wonder Young President Zhou was so angry.
"Secretary Zhang, is there sothing you need?" Cheng Zhiwei asked.
Secretary Zhang said with a smile, "I have sothing I’d like to discuss with you personally, may I take a few minutes of your ti?"
Cheng Zhiwei hesitated, then agreed, "Sure."
He Ye pressed the elevator button, "I’ll wait for you in the parking lot."
Once He Ye left, Secretary Zhang said, "Young Madam, you have misunderstood Young President Zhou. It wasn’t him who did this. Wu Chengshuang, who was fired and bitter, deliberately spread the news."
Cheng Zhiwei was silent for a mont, "Did Zhou Lin send you to find ?"
Clearly, she didn’t believe him.
Secretary Zhang shook his head, "I ca on my own. This really is a misunderstanding. And the day Wu Chengshuang took you away, it was Young President Zhou who rescued you. Think about it, if he really didn’t care about you, he could have just ignored the situation."
Like a bolt of lightning striking her head, Cheng Zhiwei was stunned, "He saved ?"
"You don’t rember?" Secretary Zhang was surprised.
"I drank too much, got blackout drunk." Cheng Zhiwei said helplessly. It turned out to be Zhou Lin; she hadn’t seen that coming.
"Even if you don’t rember, it’s a fact that Young President Zhou saved you. Young Madam, this incident isn’t related to him."
Yet, Cheng Zhiwei wasn’t soone who could feel grateful to Zhou Lin after a few words, cold-hearted or heartless, whatever they called her; her three years of marriage had taught her that much.
"If it was him who saved , why doesn’t he co forward to clear things up?" Cheng Zhiwei said calmly, "A simple word from him and it could all be settled. Yet, he lets
get chased down and cursed online. It’s nothing but his deliberate doing for Bai Zhuzhu."
