redith furrowed her brows at the annoying voices. It was so loud yet so quiet since she couldn't exactly decipher what they were saying.
She lay silently unmoving trying to recall what had happened and where she was.
She froze when it all ca back to her. Soone..soone has tried to raped her. All of it flooded through her head, in a flash of color and events. She had went to the bathroom and the guy and attacked her. Fortunately Marcus had co to save her.
Her line of mories were interrupted when she realized what they were saying. It was obvious they didn't know she was awake.
"I screwed up. I promised to protect her and I-I couldn't even protect her from this. She probably even hates ." She heard him blow out a shaky breath. The frustration and pain in his voice was clearly evident.
"Marcus calm down. You saved her rember? He didn't even-"
"No. You don't understand. I know this isn't the first ti sothing like this is happening to her. I kissed her last night and I got a flash of her mories Kate.
The trauma and pain she had been through and now she had to go through all of it again."
redith stiffened when she heard him. He saw her mories? Now that explained why he knew about Atlas.
"We fought last night and I was planning on apologizing to her but now I'm sure she hates
even more. I have failed her."
Marcus sighed.
"You love her don't you?" She heard Kate asked him.
Silence enveloped them for a second before she heard him speak.
"Does it matter?" Marcus scoffed as he continued, "She would never love . I might marry her but I know her heart will never be mine."
Guilt crashed into over redith and a moan escaped her lips. She wasn't sure if it was from the pain in her body or the tornt in her heart.
Even though Marcus was a good guy she knew she could never give him what he wanted.
They must have heard her , because Katrina was by her side in an instant. Concern evident on her face as she asked, "How are you feeling?"
redith swallowed the lump in her throat and just nodded. Her gaze averted to Marcus who was standing at the door as if he was afraid to approach her. They stared at each other for a second before Katrina cleared her throat breaking the silence.
"I will leave you two to talk. If anything just call
okay?"
redith throat bobbled and she nodded once again.
"Alright I'm leaving." Katrina said and walked out the room leaving her with Marcus.
redith struggled and sit up. She fidgeted with her hands in her lap as the silence was almost deafening.
"M-Marcus." redith uttered and within seconds he was in front of her , hovering his hand near her jaw like he was too scared to touch her.
He swallowed harshly while he stared at her with
his devastated eyes.
"I'm sorry sorry…" he whispered, his voice full of pain.
"It's okay." redith said as she forced out a smile.
"No it's not. You don't have to pretend redith. I know you're sad and hurt and angry and it's okay. It's all my fault. I'm such a bad person right? This is all my fault" he murmured
solemnly, making it sound like he was the one who tried to hurt her.
"You didn't know that was going to happen, neither
did I. you couldn't have known"
redith urged, feeling her
heart ache at how he looked like he was crucifying himself, it was written all over his face.
Marcus shook his head and raked his hands through his hair. His eyes snapped to hers , and he grimaced "No. I should have protected you.... No one should ever be able to do that to you. I could have stopped it."

He clamped his eyes shut and his face screwed up
"Marcus stop, you ca right? I'm safe now. You saved ." redith said gently, unable to hide the tinge of sadness in her voice.
"I know I'm the last person you want to see right now." He said and took a step back from her.
"M-" she was interrupted when the door opened and soone rushed in.
"Angel-"
redith felt herself being engulfed in a hug. Atlas pulled her tight against his chest as his arms wrapped around her shoulders and his hand rested on the back of her head.
"Tell
you're okay. "
redith could feel his heart hamring against his chest, and once she slt that familiar scent of his cologne. She crumbled into a million pieces, her shoulders shaking as a sob broke through her throat.
"I was so scared." She whimpered, burying her face in his neck.
Atlas tightened his arms around her , rocking her gently and rested his cheek against the top of her head
"You're safe now. You're safe now." he repeated like a
chant.
"I was so scared" redith choked "No one was there to help , he wouldn't stop."
Atlas' body stiffened, his arms flexed around her like he was
trying to calm himself.
"Shsss…. You're safe now. Don't think about it."
Atlas said and pressed a kiss on her forehead.
He murmured
sweet words as he rubbed her back, calming her down.
redith closed her eyes to stop the tears forming in them. Every ounce of pain she felt tonight disappeared as he held her in his arms.
Suddenly redith stiffened in Atlas' arms and she abruptly pulled away.
Her eyes widened and her face paled.
"Atlas? How did you get here? Also Mar-"
redith trailed off as she glanced around the room but there was no sign of Marcus.
Her heart slamd in her chest at the sudden realization. Marcus was here when Atlas ca to he might have seen their romantic gesture.
She couldn't imagine the pain he was going through right now.
