Chapter 96:

“Oh, there is the guild,” I said, seeing the adventure guild sign on a building co in view. Taking another bite of the packet of ribs in my hands, my eyes wandered to the opposite side where the church should be or the destroyed one. But contrary to my expectations, all I saw was another giant building of so rchant company. Looking around for a bit more, I didn’t see anything church-related.

“I don’t see any church or black pillar. Tch, did they lie to ? Even on their death beds.” I said, looking around the market area.

“Little lady, you seem to be lost? Might this old bag of bones be of any help?” Soone next to said just when I was about to take another bite out of my food.

“Well, I am new to the city and wanted to do so praying in the Church. I asked so n a while back. They said it would be at the main market area across from the guild, but I see nothing.” I said, looking towards the old lady only to feel a shudder go through my spine seeing her appearance.

“May the lady with old bones help in finding the church,” I said, giving the familiar old lady a kind smile.

“The youth of today doesn’t know how to respect their elder.” The old lady said, glaring up at .

“Does the elders of today not know that fans can hurt people,” I said, looking at the fan granny from the first ti I was on a train.

“That was your fault for almost hitting this bag of old bones.” The Granny said aggressively, giving a glare.

.....

“No, no, it was not my fault. It was the child that grabbed my tail’s fault that I needed to unfreeze my feet from the floor,” I said, making it clear to the granny.

“You should stop making excuses, fox.” The granny said, intensifying her glare.

“I am only pointing out facts. It, not excuses,” I said, making it seem her glare isn’t doing anything.

“Accept your wrongdoings, or do I need to break another fan on you.” The granny said, taking out a fan in thin air.

“... No, thank you. Can the wise elder please give the directions to the church,” I said with a clear voice.

“Thought so. I don’t know what a demon like you would really do there, but it’s another 5 blocks to the east on the right side.” The granny explains, pointing towards the east.

“Thank you, elder. As for what I want to do there. Let’s just say the black pillar intrigues .” I said with a grin.

“If that’s so, I will go to the west slums. You will get more information there about the pillars and their material.” The granny said with a sigh.

‘Black market?’ I thought hearing her ntion the west slums as well.

“You really are a wise elder,” I said with a surprised face before my eyes widen, seeing a fan directed towards .

Smack!

“Did I not tell you I will break a fan on you again.” The granny said, loader throwing the now broken fan to the ground.

“Yes, yes, and it still hurts,” I said, rubbing my head.

“Now give money.” The granny said, holding out her hand towards .

“The fan was 20 silver, right?” I said, digging through my bag of coins.

“That should do.” The granny said, walking away from .

“wait, I didn’t give you any... thing,” I said, trailing off at the end, realizing the granny was already out of sight. “Tch, she is one mysterious granny,” I said, looking at the 20 silver coins in my right hand. Shrugging to myself, I moved the coins to words on my left hand where the bag is only to realize it was gone.

“So that’s what she ant this would do. That bastard of an old hag! Old hag, just you wait.” I shouted in the middle of the road surprising everyone around .

Clicking my tongue, I looked east again before walking off towards the church.

(Old bag of bones POV)

“Old hag, just you wait!” The fox girl shouted, standing on the ground.

Seeing the fox girl shout like that made snicker to myself before I looked at the bag in my hands I got from her.

“let’s see how much she actually had on her,” I said, opening the bag only to be disappointed at what I saw. “That cunning fox. She improved better than I thought.” I mumbled, turning the bag over, making only copper and so silver coins fall out on the rooftop.

“I guess she actually got back,” I mumbled to myself, teleporting away.

“well, it’s not going to be long before she cos here. I might as well take my nap while waiting for her to arrive.” I said, yawning while dropping the illusion on myself before lying down on the dungeon floor.

(Kitsuna POV)

“Mil didn’t say anything about it being this thick and tall,” I said, tapping my foot on the top of the black pillar that was at least 2 ters thick and 20 ters high. Bending down, I put my hand on the surface, trying to feel anything coming from it other than the noticeable killing intent.

“I did have the thought that the knife was made out of sothing weird the first ti I saw it. Then that granny said I should look into the black market. That just made think that the materials, the knife, and this pillar are similar, but that was just a thought. I didn’t think it would be the sa. But then again, I don’t even notice that Kayda was coming onto for a month.” I mumbled to myself while rubbing the black pillar while falling into my own thoughts.

“Does this pillar talk to you or sothing?” Suddenly hearing Warlurd behind , I almost jumped in fright.

“you know, for a holy man, your way too good in sneaking,” I said, turning around facing him.

“really? But I shouted at you from down there, and I had to use a light spell to get up here.” Warlurd said, looking at confused.

“Huh, did I really get so distracted to not even notice you co up here?” I said, looking down at the pillar again. “I think I understand now.”

‘The killing intent must have distracted more than I thought. Got to work on that.’ I thought before getting ready to use my demon elents.

“What do you an you understand?” Warlurd said, tilting his head at .

“I will jump off if I were you,” I said, crouching down again, putting both hands flat on the pillar’s surface.

“What!” Warlurd didn’t waste any ti and jumped off to the ground just in ti to dodge a dark lightning bolt hitting and the pillar.

Boom!!

“Black lightning magic! Everyone be ready for anything. They might have co back.” So people on the ground started shouting in a panic seeing sothing happening on the pillar. Not long after the first lightning bolt hit the pillar, another one ca down 3 tis bigger than the first.

Boom!!

“it’s breaking apart!” A sister shouted in surprise.

“watch out for the debris.” Another priest yelled.

Everyone was again in a panic state, running away from the falling pillar, seeing all the debris falling towards them.

“Tch, why can’t it all fall like I want it to fall,” I said, annoyed, jumping from rock to rock while using my dinsional storage skill.

“What did she do now?” Warlurd said, looking at jumping around.

“There, I left so for you guys if you need to investigate the thing yourself,” I said, pointing at the small pile of black pebbles.

“From that big pillar, you’re only going to leave us that much? No, you don’t even have the right to claim anything. This is church business outsiders have no right to get themselves involved.” A priest yelled, walking up to .

“what are you going to do?” I said, looking at him confused.

“this idiot just doesn’t know when to let things go,” Warlurd said, also walking up to .

“We want back all the other pieces of the pillar now!”

“Yeah, no, these things are given its killing intent. That’s way too intriguing to let you angel lovers have all the fun investigating it.” I said, shaking my head.

“Ken, just drop it. We have enough to do our own and with her taking the rest makes the clean-up easier.” Warlurd said, grabbing the priest by the shoulder.

“But archbishop, she has nothing to do with this. Why are you standing up for her?”

“because she is Kayda the sage’s comrade and helped to save us when the crimson bandits attacked us,” Warlurd explains.

“Crimson bandit? I forgot to ask who they are actually. They sound like a big deal.” I asked, confused.

“you don’t know even though you fought against them,” Warlurd said, looking at baffled.

“Nope, no idea. Anyways I got to go. The sun will be going down in so ti, and I still need to find Kayda.”

“Oh, I almost forgot. Lady Kayda told she would be at the inn next to the adventure guild. The inns’ na is Sunflower Inn. You can’t really miss it.” Warlurd said, nodding at before walking towards the debris.

“Thank you for the information. I will do that then,” I said while heading towards the west slums.

“Nova, that’s not the way,” Mil said, running up to .

“Oh hello, mil. I know it’s not. I still have sothing to do in that direction really quick before heading back.” I said, rubbing her head before walking away.

“N-nova, are you and That Dragonoid together?” Mil asked hesitantly.

“I guess you can say we are ‘together,'” I said, not turning around.

“I sniff see sniff.”

‘yeah, that’s the problem of having a weak heart.’ I thought before flash stepping towards the closes roof.
